"My sister moved into Parkview in Allen. It's excellent. She's in an apartment and it's excellent as well. They have swimming, they take people to activities, and they play Bridge. They do all kinds of things. They have a library and a beauty salon."

"I'm a current resident of The Wellington at Arapaho. I've been here for three years now. I believe that our directors are caring people. We have games and bingo, we have entertainers from the outside come in, and we have some new things. I think one is kind of a music and dance class and card games. There are plenty of activities. The meals are adequate for a balanced diet."

"I chose The El Dorado for myself because of the location. I liked how it's laid out. The atmosphere suits me quite well. The rooms are very nicely sized. The studios are big. I felt like I belonged there. The dining area is very much like an upscale restaurant."

"Alexis Estates is amazing. It's totally new, so everything is gorgeous. The rooms are fabulous, the chef they have is very talented in making food without salt and pepper, and using other spices. The cleaning staff is great. The staff is incredible, very helpful, and very caring."

"Gracious Care Home - Allen, a residential assisted living, was a nice place. The only thing is that I don't know if they would have been able to handle my mother with her Dementia and all the requirements that she would have needed in that kind of environment. It was just a four-bedroom house, but it was very nice. I just don't think they had the equipment or the staff to deal with her condition. She's immobile, she can't walk, and she's bedridden. The medication, the fact that she can't walk, and with her dementia, I just don't know if they would have been able to deal with all that. She would have required more attention than I think they would have been able to provide. I think for assisted living or for someone who can still maintain, and just has memory problems, it would be perfect. My mom required more one-on-one attention because, although she can't walk, she's forgotten she can't walk, so someone has to watch her all the time, since she might fall and have a very high risk of falling. The staff was very nice to me. They introduced me to a couple of the people who were there, and they were also very nice. They have standard-sized bedrooms, and you can provide your own bed, which is nice. They probably need to improve accessibility. Since they're a home, it's not necessarily designed for the handicapped."

"Briarview Memory Care is wonderful!! My mother lives here and is very content. The Memory Care Director, the Activity Director, the Medical Technicians, the Certified Nurse Assistants, and the housekeeping staff are like family to us. They not only provide excellent care to the residents but they provide a loving, personal environment for the residents and their families. The facility is very secure to provide a safe environment but it also has a beautiful courtyard and screened in sun room which allows the residents to take walks on the paved walkway, plant flowers, fly kites, and enjoy the sunshine. The staff also encourages residents to participate in games, exercises, and simple tasks to stimulate their minds and to be successful at familiar tasks. There is a kitchen for the residents to help make cookies, brownies, and other treats. There are evening activities such as Family Night so that residents can enjoy a special evening with their family members. This facility is about 1 year old and is beautiful. The rooms are comfortable and feel like home. There is a beauty shop for hair care, manicures, and pedicures. I am so thankful that we selected Briarview for my mother and am so grateful for the entire Briarview staff! "

"I liked Parkview very much. There were people all over doing things. Their swimming pool was absolutely outstanding. They had a beauty salon and a lot of activities. Different people taught classes on odd things, which is terrific because that's interesting. They served all three meals but breakfast is always available, and then you choose either lunch or dinner. The place is lovely and I saw three different apartments, most of which had decks. The food was delicious."

"Atria Carrollton was just as nice as the other place, but the location was good because it's near to where I'm living now and it's convenient. The staff was friendly and detail-oriented. They offered food, but I didn't try it. This facility was probably the largest out of all the ones that we looked at."

"I toured The Reserve at North Dallas. The apartments were very new, with huge closets and big rooms. The kitchen was very nice with some granite countertops. They had some good choices of food. And if you didn't like what they were serving, they had other food available for you that you could get, kind of what they always have. The outside was nice. The places, community rooms, and community spaces looked nice, along with all the activities they provided, and there were lots of choices. The staff who gave the tour was very nice, had lots of great information, was very friendly, and took the time. The residents were nice. Some of them were sharing their stories and what they liked about them. So, that was good too."

"We chose here for my dad because we were really pleased with it and to me, when you walked in it was almost like it gave you a homey feeling versus some of the others that we have visited. Also, to be honest, it was also a financial thing. Their staff is wonderful and everyone we've met has been very, very friendly, and they are very helpful. We've had different occasions where I was trying to get my dad set up so he can go and see his wife at Christmas time, and they are just great. They are very helpful with little things -- like I had them coming to do his carpet in his room and they come and clean his place once a week and they are all very, very helpful. He's got his own one-bedroom apartment type thing, but there is no kitchen. It has a little living area, a bedroom, a nice walk-in closet, and a nice little place for him to put his actual dresser. The kitchen is just a sink, a refrigerator, and a microwave, which is just perfect for him. They feed him three meals a day; he goes down there and eat which has been wonderful. He has been very pleased with the food. They have weekly trips to Walmart and the grocery stores, and they also have a weekly trip where they kind of decide where everybody wants to go, and they'll take them to do something like museums or stuff like that. They've got a lot of church things, they have what they call a little happy hour two nights a week where they just all get together in snacks, and they have somebody there that normally just plays music for them and they can dance. They just have all kinds of activities, all kinds of arts and crafts, but they also got a library with the computers and stuff like that. There are lots of trees around, they have areas where they can go outside and sit, little garden areas, and they have little gazebos. "

"Lakeview at Josey Ranch was attractive, clean, modern and new. However, we wanted a facility that was located in Dallas. They had fewer large apartments compared to others, and I thought they offered not as much activities as the other facilities. "

"I had a very brief visit. It seemed nice but it just didn't seem nice enough for what I was looking for at that time. What was appealing to me was the outside of the place. It was very attractive. However, when you walk in, it was not. The staff seemed very kind. Their residents seem happy though I only saw a few. Their rooms were very simple. "

"Everything is very nice. The food is great, and the people are very nice. The apartment was big, which was the main positive. We tried to get my mom into another place and couldn't get in, so we're on a waiting list. The bedroom and the living room were large and felt more like a home. They have classes and all kinds of things, so it's nice."

"We were very impressed with Ariel Pointe, not only with the person that took us around on the tour, but also with what the residents had to say about the place. The staff was great, and they followed up terrifically. With some documentation that we requested, they worked over the weekend to get that information to us to help us with our decision making. We looked at a 1-bedroom apartment with a large bath and a kitchenette. It was very nice. It looks like they have a good selection of activities going on all day for everybody too. We passed by an exercise room and a courtyard area that were very nice. The place was very nicely laid out, very light and bright."
