"My sister and I went to Sunrise of Plano. It was beautiful. It was very nice and very spacious. They have a lot of areas, like a hair salon and a place to watch movies, so it's very nice. The people were very nice, but not a lot of them speak Spanish. The common areas were very nice, spacious, and clean."

"Atria Canyon Creek is excellent. We're very happy here. The staff is very friendly and they try to be accommodating. They offer good service. The opportunities to interact and socialize with other residents are high. The food is outstanding. The size of our room is very good. Cleanliness is good. They have swimming, theater, movies, and all kinds of games. Although my husband and I don't participate, there is a happy hour. We enjoy the community church service. They have special programs for special holidays and events. The dining area is very good."

"We had an in-person tour of Hidden Springs of McKinney. We really liked the fact that there was an indoor pool, so my mother could stretch her back and get that exercise year-round. They offer meals and the pricing is still affordable for the smaller units. They get pricey for the larger units. The facility is wonderful because it's all new, so the apartments don't feel institutional. They feel like small homes. I was really impressed with the kitchen because it felt like a kitchen in a private home. My mother has seen pictures, and she absolutely loves it, so that's something that really thrilled us. Another nice feature is the valet service, so my mother is able to get her car on a bad walking day or something. She can have a valet come, pick her up, and bring the car to the front, which is really helpful. The staff member was very thorough. She actually helped us get to see a unit. The dining hall looked very nice. The facility was in a beautiful setting. It's in a more or less urban environment, but it does have a really nice courtyard in the middle of the facility. They had some kind of outdoor eating area, which I thought was really nice."

"Apartments are very nice and safe. Residents are very friendly and look out for each other. All the staff are delightful to be around."

"I liked Parkview very much. There were people all over doing things. Their swimming pool was absolutely outstanding. They had a beauty salon and a lot of activities. Different people taught classes on odd things, which is terrific because that's interesting. They served all three meals but breakfast is always available, and then you choose either lunch or dinner. The place is lovely and I saw three different apartments, most of which had decks. The food was delicious."

"My mother has moved into The Wellington at Arapaho. She has been there for two months as a resident, but she was there for two weeks before that in assisted living. She liked it. We talked with the marketer, Jennifer, and she really helped in making our decision by explaining all the attributes that they had to offer. They wear their call buttons. They have one that they're supposed to press in the morning when they get up. They have a full-time chef. They're offered three meals today, but they also have a little kitchenette. They had different-sized units, but we opted for the unit that we had because it had a kitchenette. They have one that does not have a kitchenette, and then they have one that has a full-sized kitchen and has more than one bedroom. The tenants are very happy about being there. We did talk to a lot of the tenants there, and they all had a lot of good things to say about it. With all of that, it's pretty much cinched it in that that was where we were comfortable with leaving her, and she was very excited about moving there. She has access to a doctor and a nurse if it's needed, but she's pretty much self-sufficient. They have call buttons if they need it for assistance, like helping with the shower or changing the sheets on the bed, or something like that, but not so much medical-related. They have game rooms, craft rooms, a restaurant sit-down type of cafeteria, and a music area. Sometimes, they'll have people come in and play music at the facility. They'll have entertainment. They have all kinds of offerings. Sometimes, they'll have enough people to want to go to Windstar, or they have a shopping thing that they do. The food is very good."

"We really loved it but it was just a little bit more expensive and a little bit farther away from home. The people were amazing. Since there were no COVID restrictions, we were able to interact a little bit more. We got to go out into their garden area and see the raised beds that the residents were taking care of. We really, really liked that. The apartments had a living area that you furnish yourself. They were wired for cable and internet. Then you have a stove and a fridge in the kitchen. All the other stuff is there for you, and then there are spots where you could put a full washer and dryer. There are built-in seats in the showers, and they are very well setup. The lady that took us around was so fun and so sweet. She was one of the best tour guides I think I ever had anywhere. The facility was a little bit newer and nicer. It was built like a full circle. If residents would like to do indoor exercise, they can actually do that. Each lap is a quarter mile. They can do a couple of laps inside, where it is air conditioned. They are not outside in the elements with allergens. I thought that was pretty cool. I definitely love their courtyard as well."

"Pioneer Ridge Gracious Retirement Living is very nice looking and upscale. The staff is friendly and helpful. My main problem is trying to get out of bed on my own which they assist me with. The food I have had was good. They have a full slate of activities and twice a week they have shopping outings. They also have some exercise classes and some organized field trips."

"Firewheel Town Village was nice. It's a newer place. They have a dining room, a Zen Garden, and a gym. The staff was very nice and very professional. The dining room was spacious, and they had some big screen TVs on the wall. Cleanliness and upkeep were good. They don't have individual water heaters though. They have a boiler and I thought that was unusual. Their balconies have outlets on them and that's important for me. I want to put stuff on my balcony that might require power."

"Atlas Point at Prestonwood attends to you very quickly, and they seem to care very much about your everyday living. They seem to pick the very food that's going to taste good and that's going to be appealing to each and every resident. It's always very, very clean, always upkept, and very, very spacious. They have good activities for all seniors that they can follow along with, and the administrator makes sure that they are well attended to. The value for the money is very, very good. It's pretty comparable to everybody around the Carrollton area."

"I toured Signature Pointe. They have very nice and courteous employees there. The people that live there are very nice and friendly. The whole environment looked very clean and very nice. The apartments were nice and clean. They had a lot of space. They always had something going on which was good. I enjoyed that. They have a nice lake outside. You can see the ducks and all that, so it's very, very nice."

"Atria Carrollton was just as nice as the other place, but the location was good because it's near to where I'm living now and it's convenient. The staff was friendly and detail-oriented. They offered food, but I didn't try it. This facility was probably the largest out of all the ones that we looked at."

"We loved Briarview and if we could afford it, that's where I would put my mother. It is private pay. It's an assisted living place where most of the clients will move over to the memory care facility afterward. It was very nice. We sat and chatted with Janice for over an hour and a half. I knew that if we had the money, I think my mother would love it. We saw the floor plans, but we didn't sit down and eat the food. We talked to a couple of people. They just loved it there. My mother would have to be in memory care. My very first impression of the staff was outstanding. It didn't smell like a place that was trying to hide anything. That would be where I would want to stay if it were me and that's where I would like for my mother to stay if we have the money. It would cost us anywhere from $5000 to $9000 a month to put her there and we don't have that money and they're only private pay. That's the downside. You first go in, they make you feel welcome. We talked to another gentleman whose parents had been there for a while. The staff seemed happy to see their clients. The memory care is on the opposite side of the grounds and it's a locked facility. I liked it. What I saw was great."
