"The Bentley was very nice, and I liked it. My mom will just have to bring her own furniture, but it seems like the stove and refrigerator were included. It's independent living, and the place was clean and bright. It looks very welcoming. The person who took me around was very accommodating."

"Sunrise of Plano seemed to be a nice place to live. The staff was very nice and very friendly. The rooms seemed really nice. I have visited several facilities, and this was the one I liked the best. "

"Everyone here at The Remington at Valley Ranch is very helpful. If you need help, you can get help and they're in contact with your family. The staff's work attitude is great. Everybody always seems to be happy here. They do a good job, considering that it's hard to cook for many different tastes and palates. Maintenance and housekeeping are excellent. Even though you're independent, sometimes it's not easy to make up your own bed or to change your sheets and if you have a problem if you're sick, they make sure you get your food to your room. They do a lot of little things like that that make it worth the five. I'm a Bridge player and we have a Bridge group that plays twice a week and that's fun. For the value for my money, I think I get more than I would anywhere else. The thing that really puts me at ease is that I write one check a month and that takes care of all my costs and that is a big deal to me. I don't have to worry about it."

"So far, right now, the Emerson on Harvest Hill has the top spot. I like the place and it's not that far from my daughter. It's only ten minutes from where my daughter lives. The people were very friendly. I'm allergic to cottonwood trees severely, and they have plenty of cottonwood flying around, but I like the people and everything. The only situation is the area that it is in. The apartments there are small for the furniture and stuff that I have. I like the manager. I like all the activities they got. I think my husband would have more activities and stuff there that he likes to do. He likes to play dominoes, and he enjoys talking to his neighbors. Now he doesn't go sit out on the balcony anymore. He stays in his room and the only time he goes out is when he goes to the store for his daughter to come and get him and take him somewhere. He doesn't even go out to eat anymore unless it's for a party or something, and he doesn't go to the movies, so I'm trying to get him more active around people. The person who took me around there was excellent. She was really friendly, and we enjoyed talking to her. She was very knowledgeable. They had a small refrigerator in the apartments. They have games and a movie room where they show movies like a theater room. They show different movies every night. And if you want to have a little get-together with the family, you can always reserve the room just for you and your family and watch a movie. They also have activities where they have little trips, and transportation to the stores, to doctor's appointments, or wherever they need to go. They have a bus that would take you where you need to go, drop you off, and then come back and pick you up. They have gazebos and they have a park for dogs. They have more than one area for that. They have a game room where they play cards. They have several different activities to keep them busy."

"The Conservatory at Plano was a lovely place. It's bright, inviting, and probably a little bit upscale. It had a lot more appeal, and the apartments were a good size for a couple. We viewed some apartments, so we got a good feel for the place, and we would seriously consider it because they're right in line with the amenities and the cost."

"Living in a gated palace! I am in an independent beautiful apartment. All inclusive in your rent is utilities, 2 chef prepared meals, indoor pool, housekeeping every other week, linen service, unlimited daily activities, exercise classes, happy hour, excursions, Walmart trips, movie theater, limousine rides to medical appts & personal trips within 10 mile radius, free emergency alert button. I enjoy a private balcony. Library, arts & crafts, walk in shower with seat, safety bars everywhere, social interaction, full size kitchen, maintenance free, putting green, animal friendly, ballroom, church services, friendly staff & residents and common area wi-fi. I do pay for in apartment wi-fi. Designated smoking area. I cannot foresee any reason to ever move again. Its ALL here!! Join the FUN!!"

"Lewisville Estates was very nice. If I were going to be moving to that type of facility, I would certainly consider that one. It was wonderful. The people I had contact with were wonderful. Everything about it was A+. They showed me the entire complex, and I had lunch with them. Their dining room was excellent, their chef was top notch, and the food was very good. The rooms were very nice and had kitchenettes with meals provided."

"I chose The El Dorado for myself because of the location. I liked how it's laid out. The atmosphere suits me quite well. The rooms are very nicely sized. The studios are big. I felt like I belonged there. The dining area is very much like an upscale restaurant."

"I thought the independent living community of The Reserve at North Dallas was nice, if you like the idea of living in a high-end hotel. It's like a 4-star hotel. Some people wouldn't like that, but I thought it was good. The staff members who assisted us were really good. I remember looking at the place and thinking that it was much nicer than the other place we visited, and that the prices were better. We had a meal there, too, but the food wasn't anything special. For its location, this place is probably as good as you were going to get, price-wise, in Dallas."

"I'm at The Wellington at Arapaho. I've been here for almost five weeks and the experience has been wonderful. The people are friendly. I've been involved in a lot of activities like bingo, Skip-Bo, and different games. I also go to a chair exercise class in the morning three days a week. They have happy hour with entertainment every Friday right before our dinner. It's friendly and sociable. The atmosphere is very nice. I know I haven't been here as long as others, but it has been a really good experience for me. They offer food and transportation for shopping, grocery, Wal-Mart, CVS, anywhere you need to go to get your business done. Tuesday and Thursday, they offer transportation to any medical appointments. We went to Braum's for ice cream one afternoon. Things like that make it much easier. It's very aesthetic. The paintings they've put on the walls (walking down the hallways to your room and to different areas) are very easy on the eyes. There are beautiful sceneries. It's very clean. I have a balcony that overlooks the courtyard, which is really nice to sit out and relax. I've done that a few times. It is a nice view. They clean our rooms, and the staff is very efficient and does a really good job. I do my personal laundry, but the cleaning person washes our sheets and towels for us, along with cleaning the apartment. I believe I'm getting my money's worth. Sometimes, the food is just not hot enough, and that would be my only complaint. I usually try the vegetable first because I like my vegetables warm, and sometimes they just aren't warm enough for me."

"I toured Pinewood Hills. I liked the three meals a day, but parking is going to be the worst. Kathleen answered all my questions about laundry. They have bingo, there's cards, and a workout room. They have a library and a movie room. They gave me a menu of what is available, and if you don't want something, you can always get something else, which is good. They showed me a large efficiency room they're keeping for me until Monday. It's fully furnished, but they don't have a stove or an oven, you get a refrigerator and a counter."

"I moved into Meadowstone Place almost four years ago and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. This is the second senior community in which I have lived and by far the best. The staff here care for the residents like they are family members not just residents. They go out of their way to make us feel special. The apartments are lovely and very well laid out and the grounds are wonderful with plants and flowers everywhere. Lots of places to wander. And activities of all kinds, a wide variety of things to choose from. The residents here are happy and our lives are full and we look forward to each day here, knowing that there is always something new and special coming up; a great meal in the dining room, a bus trip to see the Bluebonnets, a game of bridge or stopping at the Community Garden to pick some herbs or spinach for a salad later in the day! This is not just a residence- It is our home, our neighbors are our friends and we care about each other here. This is a very special place to live!"

"We got my mom moved into Solstice Senior Living at Plano last week, so everything worked out well. Right now, we've been helping her make sure everything was set up. It's an accessible apartment, she just needed a couple of things for her own personal needs. It's independent living but they do have a home health care agency that is located in that building for her use if she needs it. The grounds are very well kept. The building has been renovated. Everything is very clean and accessible to my mom. The marketing person and the executive director were very helpful. They worked to make sure that the apartment that we had chosen for my mom was off the market so that my mother can move in at her convenience. We can eat with my mom if we let them know in advance and there's a fee. But my mom goes down three times a day and has breakfast, lunch, and dinner and as per her, the food is excellent. When we originally went to tour the building, they were doing crafts, and then when I brought my mom in the following day when I walked her down, she was greeted by everybody, and they were having an ice cream social. I have seen them doing Bible study. My mom hasn't participated yet, but they do keep a printed daily calendar for the residents to get to decide on what activities they want to participate in daily. My mom has an efficiency apartment, it's the perfect size for her. It has been completely renovated. There's already handicapped accessibility in the room, which is what my mom needs. Everything is perfect. As far as I'm concerned, everything looks quality, and all the amenities that are included in her rent are keeping it affordable for her. There's a definite improvement as far as the updating, and overall, it's a wonderful place. She has only participated in the ice cream social, but from what I'm hearing as I'm meeting the other residents and from the printout, they keep them busy seven days a week. They have all kinds of activities. For everything included in her monthly rent and the discounts that they gave her to move in, I would rate the value for money a 5."

"Everything is very nice. The food is great, and the people are very nice. The apartment was big, which was the main positive. We tried to get my mom into another place and couldn't get in, so we're on a waiting list. The bedroom and the living room were large and felt more like a home. They have classes and all kinds of things, so it's nice."
