"I chose Sunrise of Hillcrest because of the longevity of the staff and the attractive gardens and flowers that the residents have access to. So those were two important things. It's a very pretty place. It's pleasant. The staff, a lot of them have been there for 10, 15 years, so it leaves the impression of a stable environment. Her apartment has one bedroom and one bathroom on the first floor. We had lunch there with my aunt, and the food was very good. They had a nice variety of choices on the menu from which to choose. It was very good. I saw a library, kind of a video room, and a separate eating room that you can reserve for families if you want to have a special event in the facility there. There was a little bistro deli kind of thing where you could get coffee."

"I will move into The Reserve at North Dallas. I liked it because it was very clean and nice, and there were a lot of people who worked there in the hallway. The room was very nice. We looked at the room, and a friend of mine came with me. The lady who helped us was excellent. Her name's Brittany. She answered all our questions, and she wasn't pushy. They have a refrigerator and a stove. They have a full kitchen, and they also have washers and dryers. They drove across town to come to pick me up because I was wheelchair-bound, and I didn't have a way to get over there. So, they used their vehicle and came over across town, picked me up, and took me over to the place. Then, I took a tour, and they brought me home. The food was good, but they accidentally brought me one of the wrong things."

"My brother-in-law was in here for skilled nursing and he eventually got into assisted living for a short period of time. Overall, the staff was pretty good. The facility was nice. It's spotless. He had a one-bedroom apartment and it was very spacious. They got outdoor seating and that kind of thing."

"After visiting and researching many senior living homes, we couldn’t have found a better place for my father-in-law. The staff is so kind and caring and the facility is very clean! They are so considerate of his dementia issues and treat him like family. He is very happy and content there!"

"Atria Carrollton was just as nice as the other place, but the location was good because it's near to where I'm living now and it's convenient. The staff was friendly and detail-oriented. They offered food, but I didn't try it. This facility was probably the largest out of all the ones that we looked at."

"My father-in-law is in Prestonwood Court Assisted Living and Memory Care. He's in their memory care. It has been fine. Everything went smoothly once we got him all evaluated. He's so much better now, and I think a lot of it has to do with the food. It's really good, and it's chef-prepared. He's on a good eating program, too, so I think that has helped him a lot. Everyone who works there, I have not had any problems with them. Everybody is very attentive. If you ask them questions, I can text them, email, or call, which has been great. The building is not brand new, but it has been updated. He is in an open room with a bathroom, a closet, and everything else. Most of those in memory care are more like that. It's more like a studio, but this one is roomier than some we have looked at. Some of them were smaller and felt more like a hospital room. This one doesn't, and it was bigger, so that was one of the things we liked about it. I think they only have room there for 18 people, it could be 20 max, and that's another thing I liked because it is a smaller memory care facility. I feel like there is more attention to helping the residents, and they have a lot of activities for them, too. They keep them busy. My father-in-law is not used to that. He was used to working still when he was 85, so he's not used to having a lot of activities or social life. Now, he has met new people there and he's been more social, which I think is good for him with the memory thing. They come to clean once a week and make his bed every day. They do a lot of stuff for him there. I'm not gonna say it was the cheapest one we looked at, but as far as the care and attention he's getting, it was worth it."

"The food at Appletree Court was good. I've only had one meal there, but they had variety for the guests and the patients, so it was a nice experience. They're very accommodating. They have activities and stuff for my wife to do and she is engaged in those now. The facility impressed me with its cleanliness and it didn't have any of the smells you usually associate with nursing homes. The staff is very friendly and I stay in contact with them throughout the week. Even if I can't see my wife, I can call them and check on my wife and they'll talk to me and be very responsive. She is doing Bible study. She seems to enjoy doing puzzles. They had Santa Claus come in already and they decorate for the holidays. They have decorated for both Thanksgiving and Christmas and singing Christmas carols and stuff like that. Right now, I'm impressed with the facility. The only thing I'm having problems with is the wi-fi goes down periodically and I try to watch my wife on a camera in her room. That's the only problem I've had. Lakiesha is very good. I'm getting my money's worth."

"I liked the Tradition - Lovers Lane very much. I looked at independent living. I think by the time I move I may go into assisted living, but I loved it. The rooms were very nice. They had an art studio because I paint. Everything was very clean and neat. I have not had a meal there, but I hear the food is very good. I haven't really met anybody or had anything to eat there, but I was impressed. I liked everything. Why I really looked there is because it was right next to Central Market and I love Central Market. The woman who toured me couldn't have been nicer. I met a couple of people who work there and they were very nice, too. She was excellent. She asked all the questions, and she showed me everything that I was interested in."
