The Best Assisted Living Communities in Tarrant County, TX

"At The Waterford on Cooper, my loved one would have had to walk a long distance from the beginning of the property to where the available units were. They showed us the facilities where they would eat and how they do the menu weekly, so I thought that was nice. The hallways were really wide, which was good because my loved one has a walker. The activities were nice and they were things I know that she likes to do. The two units that I looked at would have been great. I think they were ergonomically correct and gave enough room to move around with a walker. Everything seemed to be pretty decent. It was not the newest place that I saw but it was well maintained and clean. The staff who gave the tour was very positive and informative. She made sure when I left there that I had gotten all the information that I needed."

"Brookdale North Richland Hills was very wonderful. It was very open and friendly, and they're receptive to people asking questions even though they're not ready to live there yet. They provided a plethora of information that I needed regarding the age limitations, and what kind of financial numbers I'm looking at for the independent living. They showed me a cottage, which is a really wonderful 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom home with a garage house. It's awesome because you can live there independently but you're also able to participate in all of the activities and things that they do in the main facility. You can also have your meals over there. When it's time to give up the independent living and move to the assisted living portion, you can do that too. It's wonderful to have the other levels available, so you don't have to go to a whole brand-new facility. The staff was fabulous. The main person I worked with, Debbie Allen, stays in contact with me and checks in to see how I'm doing. She even invited me to go to some of their events even though I don't live there yet. She wants me to stop by anytime I'm in the neighborhood, which I will do."

"I like that Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living, Arlington is very attentive. When mom presses the button, they're always there in 10 minutes or less. They have a community that's kind of all-inclusive. So, there aren't different levels of care. It's kind of one price that covers everything, which is very affordable, and there's no lack of quality due to that type of rate plan. Mom has a studio deluxe and it's quite big compared to the sizes of some of the other ones that I viewed. She has a kitchenette with a fridge, a sink, a microwave, and a good size area for the bed, her chair, her TV, and her dresser. Everything fits fine. Maintenance was very helpful with everything she asked about. Like she had trouble getting the TV, working with her hands and her remote and the maintenance man came, helped her, and showed her how to get the TV where she wanted it and what channel she needed. They do the laundry and the housekeeping, and it's all very good. The dining area is also nice and clean. The tables are decorated nicely. It's kind of a restaurant-style. They probably don't have as many choices as some of the other places, but my mom's happy with the food. They have bingo once a week, church every Sunday, singing, puzzles, activities, parties, and outings."

"We toured the Good Place. They have large garden pots, and when the residents want to plant, they have pots for them, and they can tend to their flowers. I thought that was very nice. I met a resident that was a good ambassador for the place and also the manager there. The one room we saw was under renovation, but we saw a resident's room, and that was very helpful. They have transportation to doctors' visits."

"We toured Tender Care Home for Adults. It turns out that this was a group home and not independent living. It was an interesting experience. They were not motor-wheelchair friendly, which is what my mother uses. It's a house that's converted into a facility. The hallways were narrow because the house was built in the 1950s. It was not what my mom and grandma needed. The bedrooms are really small. The staff who assisted me was very kind, but it took a while for her to understand what our needs were, and when she finally figured it out, she was like, 'Oh yeah, this wasn't going to work for you all.'"

"We toured StoneCreek North Richland Hills and they looked very nice. Inside it was nice looking, too. I was just disappointed with the size of the rooms, and the dining area was nothing compared to where I am staying now. I can't comment on the food because we didn't get to eat any food, I guess because of COVID. For five or six thousand dollars, I was expecting extreme luxury. I was disappointed that for $6,000 the rooms look like hospital rooms. The dining room wasn't that fancy, and it wasn't very big. It didn't seem like it was accommodating very much to meet people, but that was the COVID situation. I can't judge completely. All I can say is that it's a high price for the accommodation. They didn't go in and show the amenities to us. In fact, when they found out that we couldn't afford that, we were rushed out the door more or less. We really didn't get that much of a tour or information. The manager, more or less, was going over pricing, and like I said, when she found out we couldn't afford her place, it was like, "See you later," type of situation."

"The tour we did at Brookdale Eden Estates was very nice. The lady that showed us through was just lovely, and she's called me a couple of times to follow up. It's just that at this point we're not ready to move my mother. Everybody was very friendly and seemed very professional. I have not tried the food, but it looked very appetizing. I liked the way they had it setup where there's table service, I think that's really nice. It's very comfortable and very clean. I thought that the room they showed us was very nice. It seemed to be a good size for assisted living. They had two assisted living spaces available, one was about 550 sq ft and the other one was 600. I don't think they have a pool, but we saw the recreation room and it was nice and adequate."

"My father-in-law is going to Brookdale Tanglewood Oaks after he's discharged from rehab. We chose this facility because they were the only assisted living center that would accept the PEG tube for my father-in-law. They were very courteous and kind. They have been very interested in his care and in his ability to take care of himself. They contact us at least once a week just to kind of check in to see how he's doing, if there's anything that they can do to help us find him a bed, and the things that he's going to need when he moves in. So, we've been very appreciative. There had been a freeze. The pipes froze in one of the sections of their building the day before, and they already had people out there working. They had to move a few residents into other units. They were very proactive and on top of things, and I really appreciated that. The staff there knew everybody's name and spoke to everybody, and just kind of acknowledged their presence."

"Brookdale Watauga is a great little place. It's not very crowded and the staff are really attentive. They seem to be on top of everything my sister needs. So, we're pleased. She has a private room and it has a view to the courtyard. It's a one-bedroom apartment with a little mini-fridge, a microwave, a sink, and a bathroom. They have some exercise, church service on Sundays, they play bingo, and have a little entertainment. In fact, tonight I was supposed to have a Christmas dinner with the residents. They also have a beauty salon and an exercise room."

"It had all three levels of care, but I visited the independent living. They told me that it was only built five years ago. It was good, but the rooms were probably average. I saw the dining area. They had three meals a day and there was a snack area where you could pick up snacks any time of the day. For the size of the facility, the dining area seemed to be small, but they told me that if you would go for independent living, you can eat in the assisted living dining room as well. I met one staff member, and she was friendly. She knew what she was talking about. It looked like an apartment building. It's four stories. It seemed to be clean."

"Bedford Estates Senior Living is more of what you would expect, more traditional, one-building facility, but it is very attractive, very comfortable, and appears to be very well managed. The one that I toured was suitable for two residents, each getting a separate bed and room, a nice restroom, and a nice bathroom, and it's very comfortable. It's a good space and a nice area. I didn't try their food, but I observed the dining area. It's the traditional sort of dining area for the facility, and it was attractive, clean, and conducive to dining. They've got staff, communal recreation, coffee bars, and stuff like that. It's very conducive to assisted living. The staff was very polite, very knowledgeable, and informative. She was able to answer some questions about my brother's current status and what they could do for him if his status changed. It was an excellent interview."

"My mother-in-law moved into Brookdale Westover Hills last week. There isn't anything that we have not liked. All of the staff and the residents are very friendly, kind and happy. The facility itself is very well-kept, and it's easy to find your way around. There's always someone around to help you should you get lost. It's large enough without being too large. The food is delicious. We had chicken-fried steak, a wonderful apple cobbler, and their dinner salads. My mother-in-law had several different items that she enjoyed. She gets to choose from roughly five entrees for every meal, plus choosing which vegetables she would like. She can choose what she would like to drink and what she would like for dessert for every single meal, and it's all very fresh and nice. They also invite and encourage family members to dine with the residents. And if they don't want to eat in the dining room on a given day, they can go and get their lunch to go. They'll package it all up for them to bring them back to their room, or they will deliver it to them if that's what they choose. They have a lot of choices along the way, which means at that age in a place like this, they can feel like they still have control. They have an actual movie theater with about 15 recliners. On every floor, they have multiple meeting places where residents can work jigsaw puzzles. They have one that's a designated library. They have a workout room and a couple of rooms for group meetings like Bible study, and things like that. They have field trips where they can go to two different stores. They have people come in to entertain at least once a week. Every day they put something under their door to let them know what the activities are for the day and if there's anything that they need to be aware of. In the elevators, it's also posted What the activities are for the entire month and also for the day. There are four floors, and every floor is near the center of the hall. There are super comfortable chairs. And I think if the resident needs to stop and rest before they get to the end or whatever, there are multiple places like that on every floor. There are multiple restrooms everywhere, too, so they're pretty accommodating."

"Mirabella Senior Living was very good. The gentleman that showed us around was an excellent guide. You could tell that he really cared about the residents, and he wanted to make sure that everything was taken care of. The place was very clean. The rooms there seemed to have a little more room in them and a few more options. They had activities like bingo, bible studies, and group activities. The sanitation was also excellent. They had more dining options. They had a little bistro cafe and a little convenient store where they could buy snacks and stuff at -- more than just the dining room. I would recommend them. "

"I moved into Westmore last July and love it. It's very clean, very bright, and very nice. The staff is very good; there's only one I don't like who's rude to the residents. The food and the chef are excellent. I'm living in a respite room, but I'm getting ready to move to an apartment. I like the happy hour, and the movies. The residents are very nice."
