"Heritage Place Assisted Living was a nice facility. I like the fact that they would let mom take her dog with her. They've got a courtyard inside the facility where you can take your animals out and walk and I thought that was nice. The rooms were nice sized. The atmosphere was peaceful. It's kind of out in the country a little, kind of close to Huguley Hospital. They had physical activities. They were having Jeopardy when I was there visiting, and I liked the fact that their cafeteria was restaurant-style where you have menus and they come out and take your order, bring your food to you like you're eating in a restaurant. The lady that I spoke with took me and showed me two of the rooms, their smallest room, and their biggest room, and I talked to her a little bit about the VA assistance."

"I toured here. I met several of the staff, and they were very helpful and very inviting. When you first walk into their community, they have a very warm and inviting entrance, and the feel of it is very, very nice. It's a beautiful place, and walking through it, there are so many different things that I know my parents would be able to take advantage of like meeting others and having things to do to keep them busy and things like that. They had a very nice variety on the menu. The living spaces were very nice, too. They're going to be smaller than what they're used to, but they would be sufficient for a couple. Because it would be for my parents, the unit would probably be a deluxe model with a kitchenette. It would be very helpful because they can still have their own snacks, and if they want to have lunch there, they can provide for themselves and still feel like they're in their own place doing their own thing. The cleanliness and condition of the place was awesome. They were very clean, very bright, very open, very spacious as far as the hallways and elevators and things like that. It was very easy to move around in. From everything I saw, it was very nice, very clean and neat."

"I really liked the people and the management at Sterling House and the food was very good. They had a very nice outdoor area that was enclosed where people could sit around. They had activities like bingo, sit and be fit and exercises. But the room was too small for us that I couldn't sit in the chair with my husband in his wheel chair. "

"My father-in-law is going to Brookdale Tanglewood Oaks after he's discharged from rehab. We chose this facility because they were the only assisted living center that would accept the PEG tube for my father-in-law. They were very courteous and kind. They have been very interested in his care and in his ability to take care of himself. They contact us at least once a week just to kind of check in to see how he's doing, if there's anything that they can do to help us find him a bed, and the things that he's going to need when he moves in. So, we've been very appreciative. There had been a freeze. The pipes froze in one of the sections of their building the day before, and they already had people out there working. They had to move a few residents into other units. They were very proactive and on top of things, and I really appreciated that. The staff there knew everybody's name and spoke to everybody, and just kind of acknowledged their presence."

"We toured Tender Care Home for Adults. It turns out that this was a group home and not independent living. It was an interesting experience. They were not motor-wheelchair friendly, which is what my mother uses. It's a house that's converted into a facility. The hallways were narrow because the house was built in the 1950s. It was not what my mom and grandma needed. The bedrooms are really small. The staff who assisted me was very kind, but it took a while for her to understand what our needs were, and when she finally figured it out, she was like, 'Oh yeah, this wasn't going to work for you all.'"

"My sister is a resident of Bethesda Gardens. The room is perfect for her. It's about half the size of what she had previously and more manageable for her personality. The building has four quarters and each quarter is called a neighborhood. Two neigborhoods have their meals in one dining area and two other neighborhoods dine in another area, and that was so much better because there's not as much noise. The staff is wonderful. They have recently undergone a management change. The new manager came in last Monday, and I had an issue that was taken care of completely. They have a lot of activities. Since she has been here, she has had a total knee replacement and neurological therapy, which has gotten rid of the spasm that she had. I've been taking her here, there and everywhere for physicians, and they've been able to improve her. They have a huge activity room with all kinds of things to do. They have somebody come in the room and pick up every day and do the laundry."

"My father has already moved into Broadway Plaza at Pecan Park. It's great there. It is a very nice and clean facility. They keep it very well. I picked it because of its location. It was right in between my house and work, so it was most convenient. Also, it has a facility dealing with Alzheimer's patients and that was something that is really important to me. My father has been there now for going on two-and-a-half months and he loves it there. We're really satisfied with it too. Their residents are really good. Their staff from the administration and the aides are also equally good. "

"Mayberry Gardens is fairly new. It's only two and a half years old and seems like you get a lot for the money. It's very reasonable. The rooms were very nice with nice furniture. They're very roomy and the one we're getting has a little kitchenette with a little refrigerator. The man who gave us the tour was very nice and answered all of our questions. Maybe he wasn't as warm as the other people from the other places we toured, but he did well. They just hardly have any activities for now. He said a lot of it was due to COVID. They have a lot more group activities normally, but the individual home activities are at a minimum."
