My father-in-law is in Prestonwood Court Assisted Living and Memory Care. He's in their memory care. It has been fine. Everything went smoothly once we got him all evaluated. He's so much better now, and I think a lot of it has to do with the food. It's really good, and it's chef-prepared. He's on a good eating program, too, so I think that has helped him a lot. Everyone who works there, I have not had any problems with them. Everybody is very attentive. If you ask them questions, I can text them, email, or call, which has been great. The building is not brand new, but it has been updated. He is in an open room with a bathroom, a closet, and everything else. Most of those in memory care are more like that. It's more like a studio, but this one is roomier than some we have looked at. Some of them were smaller and felt more like a hospital room. This one doesn't, and it was bigger, so that was one of the things we liked about it. I think they only have room there for 18 people, it could be 20 max, and that's another thing I liked because it is a smaller memory care facility. I feel like there is more attention to helping the residents, and they have a lot of activities for them, too. They keep them busy. My father-in-law is not used to that. He was used to working still when he was 85, so he's not used to having a lot of activities or social life. Now, he has met new people there and he's been more social, which I think is good for him with the memory thing. They come to clean once a week and make his bed every day. They do a lot of stuff for him there. I'm not gonna say it was the cheapest one we looked at, but as far as the care and attention he's getting, it was worth it.

A friend of mine was at the assisted living facility of Prestonwood Court Assisted Living and Memory Care in Plano. She was there for a couple of years, and they appear to have a big turnover in personnel and have changed ownership several times. They had a couple of good staff members and several bad ones. Most people there also did not like their food, and they went through a number of chefs. I had eaten there myself, and the food is kind of flat, without much flavor. Other than that, it was a very clean facility, and they offered activities and outings. The dining area was very well-maintained and their housekeeping was very good.

Prestonwood Court was great, and the community was really clean. We weren't able to see many of the residents due to COVID, but the facility itself was super nice. It was one of the better facilities that we saw. The rooms were of decent size, and the gardens were decent, too. The people there all seemed pleasant and friendly. We thought my grandmother would do really well there. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way, but we were excited to have her at their facility. They had a pool and every amenity that you could possibly think of. In the assisted living part they had really nice rooms, where it wasn't just one room. It has like a living room and separate bedrooms with a little kitchenette. It didn't feel like a college-dorm type of situation, which was great. We ended up looking more at the memory care side, and those rooms were great because they were larger. In some of the other facilities that we looked at, it felt like you could touch each wall if you just put your hands out. At Prestonwood Court, it felt like an actual apartment type of room where you had enough space for all of your things, where they could actually bring more of their stuff and make it feel more like home. They would redo the room for you, like you could choose what type of flooring you will have. She had wood flooring in her house, so they're going to put that into the room for her, repaint it, and all of that stuff, so the room would look fresh and clean for her when she got there. It's just really thoughtful in what they were going to do. They were helping us step by step on how to get her there, and they got less traumatic because she has Alzheimer's; it's very difficult in transitioning. They were working really, really closely with us to help us with the transition. That was kind of a big deal, and they were really helpful in that sense.
