"I went to Parkview in Frisco. All the staff were very nice, but it was an older building. The rooms were nice, but the room they have, I didn't like the view. I know they had a swimming pool."

"Cottonwood was awesome. It was a very clean and very nice facility. They did a great job."

"The Waterford at Plano is nice and clean. I stayed for lunch and I liked the activities and apartments that they had. I would go there if I had to. The thing that impressed me the most was the nurse. I asked if they use the Hoyer lift, and they said that they believe in aging in place. So If I need a Hoyer lift, they won't kick me out. They would let me stay and bring a Hoyer lift in. They also have a roll-in shower. Their dining area had pretty chandeliers and the food was good. I observed the people getting ready for a church service and they were also setting up for a birthday party. The person who gave me the tour even came to my house and drove me over there, which was nice. They had a wonderful physical therapy department with all the equipment you could imagine."

"We settled on an independent living facility called The Conservatory at Plano because there was a flexibility for independent. There was a personal driver that would take him anywhere within 10 miles with a 24-hour notice. There were group trips monthly to different activities like the casinos and things like that. The living accommodations were actually great. He would be in a 2-bedroom apartment unit that was almost a thousand square feet with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a full kitchen with granite counter top and new appliances. They had a free continental breakfast every day. They had free happy hour for residents and guests from 3:30 until 5:00 I believe which is beer, wine, and snacks. They also had a restaurant style dining facility that opens at 11:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., and included in your monthly fees is one meal a day in that facility. You could have a continental breakfast for free and then have a late lunch or early dinner and not even ever have to cook yourself, if you didn't want to. We would be moving him there on Saturday, but up to this point, the visits that we had made and the staff had just been great. "

"Atria Canyon Creek was really good. We really liked the place. The people were very nice, including the residents we met. It was clean, and they seemed to have a lot of activities. Their pricing was good. The place was big with a lot od residents living there. If we had made a choice, this might be the place we chose. They offered a broad dining experience with a three- to four-hour time frame for their breakfast or dinner. "

"I have my parents and Mother-in-law at Atria. We've been there almost two years, both in Assisted Living and now Memory Care. The staff is so kind, helpful, upbeat, and supportive both for us and our parents! The staff bring such a brightness to me and often help reset my mood on the way in; I really appreciate that our parents also benefit from their upbeat kindness! The feel of the building is a little old-fashioned, and I think that helps our parents feel at home - they are a little old-fashioned, too. My parents are in a Memory Care room together, so it is a little snug, but most other places couldn't even accommodate them and 2 walkers. Our parents enjoy meals with their friends. My MIL loves the MC garden (it is really nice!) and enjoys movie nights and mainly watches other activities, though she is welcomed and feels comfortable. At this stage, we most appreciate the seamless care and communication between doctors, nurse, home health, and staff; that has done wonders for their health and everyone's peace of mind."

"We looked at Briarview, and it was very nice. It would have been the place that my mom would go had she agreed to it. The place was very pleasant, and the people were professional. The woman who showed me around was very professional. The rooms were very nice. They had nicer little kitchenettes than the average kitchen, and they had a full-size refrigerator and a pantry, as well as some cabinetry and Lazy Susan lower storage cabinets. We were able to try the food there and it was very good. The menu had choices of a salad, a soup, 2 entree choices, and dessert for that day. And then on the other side of the page had the everyday menu. The dining room was very bright and inviting. There was a nice little gym facility, and a hair and nail salon combo. They had a main gathering spot with a fireplace where they have church services at 2:00 PM on Sunday afternoons. They also had Bible study groups. They had a lot of activities during the week lined up. The facility itself was clean and inviting."

"I went to Emerson at Rosemeade Park yesterday. The staff was very friendly. I got to see all the open common areas, we went and looked at one of the apartments, and they're actually pretty spacious. They've got a lot of activities that they scheduled. They served three meals a day, so that's pretty good. The one downside that I can see for my parents is that there's not a pool onsite. That was something that they were really hoping for. The staff member was great. She was very, very knowledgeablem, everybody she walked past, she knew them, and everybody was friendly and said hi all the way through. And so it was good. They have a small refrigerator/freezer, apartment size, and they've got a microwave and a sink. I asked, and you're allowed to bring a hot plate or something like that, a coffee maker if you want one, but they don't have full kitchens."

"Lakeview at Josey Ranch is a very nice place. We like it a lot. The staff is fabulous, and food is is outstanding. They also have all the great activities. The apartment we looked at was 1-bedroom, which was very nicely appointed. It had a full kitchen, which was very nice too. Lakeview at Josey Ranch is independent living. You can get outside services to come in and they'll help you do that. However, we thought my sister needed another step-up in care. Otherwise, she probably would have gone to this place."

"I toured The Reserve at North Dallas. The apartments were very new, with huge closets and big rooms. The kitchen was very nice with some granite countertops. They had some good choices of food. And if you didn't like what they were serving, they had other food available for you that you could get, kind of what they always have. The outside was nice. The places, community rooms, and community spaces looked nice, along with all the activities they provided, and there were lots of choices. The staff who gave the tour was very nice, had lots of great information, was very friendly, and took the time. The residents were nice. Some of them were sharing their stories and what they liked about them. So, that was good too."

"Brookdale Club Hill was very nice; I really loved it. Both the employees and the community were very nice and welcoming. It was clean, and they had a lot of activities going on in there. The food was good, as well. "

"The rooms at Lewisville Estates were fantastic and had a lot of room. The facility was very nice. It had a lot of common areas for people to meet. They had events going on while we were there, and people out visiting. We got to see two different rooms and two different sizes. At that point, that's when we had walked over to the other section as well, but the assisted living was great. The dining area was very nice. It allowed other residents to visit with each other and have dinner or lunch together. They had flowers on the tables. The staff was very friendly and very communicative. We got there at our appointed time, and she was delayed by a little bit, but we were always in the know that she would be coming to meet with us. It wasn't an inordinate amount of time we had to wait, and then when we were able to do the tour, she spent quite a bit of time with us."

"Landon at Lake Highlands is independent living with extra assistance if needed. The staff is very friendly. They have a very low turnover rate. This place has been open for 17 years, and they have someone who has been working here since the beginning of the conception of the agency. I like that about it. It seems like they like to work here, and they're not here for a paycheck, which is nice. They have a pool that is open during the warmer season. I like that because I can do water exercises for my arthritis. They also have a physical therapist on staff which is helpful as I'm recovering from a knee replacement surgery. I have a two-bedroom apartment, but they also have one-bedrooms and studios. The apartments are very nice. Housekeeping is included as part of the rent that you pay. They have washer and dryer hookups in the apartments, so you can do your laundry in your apartment instead of having to use a public machine. I like that, too. They provide full kitchens in the apartments. If you choose to do your own cooking, you can. You can benefit from their prepared meals as well. The chef is very good. They provide three meals a day, and they're open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., which is kind of nice. I'm blind, but my relatives said it's a very clean place. I also think it's well-kept. I have not experienced any activities as of yet because this is my third weekday. However, they have lots of activities. They also have nondenominational worship services on the premises. It is a pet-friendly community, which I like because I want to get a dog. My brother said that they have a fitness center and a gym with some nice equipment."

"We're very happy with Edgemere. It's very clean. The people are pleasant. They take good care of us. The meals are good. Maintenance and housekeeping are all good. They have a Bible study that we go to. They have a lot. We do movies and stuff. It's worth the money."
