"My father was in a rehab facility called Lake Village. We chose this rehab facility because it was just close to my mother's home so she could visit him there. His room was clean. With regard to the patients there, some of the people were in really bad shape, but others seemed to get around pretty well. The only activity I saw was that they played Bingo. "

"I received great care from everyone at this facility, they take the time to get to know their residents, whether it is a temporary or permanent residenty. I was not ready to go home (insurance) but Rose, my social worker,came,thru with offers that were very simple, yet made my transition so much easier. I wish the facility and it's employees, continued success. "

"The rehab team at hollymead is the best. The nurses are wonderful and very attentive. The food is great, and the activities are fun and entertaining."

"Prairie Estates was recommended to me. The rooms were nice, and the staff was very nice. They had a lot of activities. They used too many medicines as treatment, and my mom would sleep for a day and a half. They have high school students that come in on Fridays and work with the residents. They also have people come in and sing, bible study, and arts and crafts. They have plain medium size rooms with a moderate amount of light. They have two separate dining rooms. The security and safety was very good. It was really hard to find the nursing staff there. There should be more availability to direct contact to the nursing staff. "

"Pilot Point was an older facility, but was all functional. It was probably a little bit homey too. It was a sizeable nursing home; certainly it had a lot people. With my experience in a small community type nursing home, I would say it’s as big as any of that size. The cafeteria was relatively quiet. That time, Alice was more advanced. There were periods when she was pretty lucid, but most of the time she was more subdued. They tried to do therapy with her so she got all the attention. She also had a nurse on duty 24 hours. I thought they were very efficient and caring. She had a room by herself. They made sure she wouldn’t fall out of bed. I just couldn’t see what else they could have done for her. They kept her comfortable. She liked to listen to music and they would make it a point to introduce her to that or allow her to hear this. I never got there and she was not clean. A couple of times they would bring the food into a room and I would help her eat. I thought she was getting the care that I would accept. "

"I am pleased with this nursing home, my mother seems pretty content here compared to other places she's stayed. Most of the staff are pleasant to work with concerning my mother's health plan. Love the fact that it's a non smoking home. the rooms are kept clean and each resident has their own dressers. I appreciate that the staff allows you to hang your own curtains as long as you follow simple safey guidelines. (Thanks to Jose' for hanging my mother's valance.) Vincent for helping my mom with her therapy. David and AJ for being informative as far as medications and Victoria for showing concern for my mom's cleanliness, cleaning her although it can be trying due to my mothers' opposition. And all of the front staff Liz, 'D', the rest are kind, and the rest. And I really appreatiate Monica for allowing my Sisters come every week for Bible Study which is encouraging for me and my mom. The lady at the front desk is very pleasant always smiling when you check in and out. The food must be okay since my mom seem to be cleaning her plate most of the time and going for snacks. Unless it's the remeron medication affects. But overall the place is nice and clean compared to other nursing homes I've visited. "

"Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation was excellent. It was clean and modern. The nurses and the physical therapy people were great. I would recommend it to anybody. I got well very quickly there. The rooms were great. They were big with lots of sunshine. Security was excellent. There was a police officer at the desk, and everything else was locked. You have to be with somebody to be able to get outside. The food was good. "

"My mom stayed at Woodridge Nursing & Rehabilitation for 20 days for rehab. I really liked the facility and felt she was safe. The staff communicated with me daily on her abilities and let me know day to day on their observations of her physical and mental well-being. She was in a very clean, private room. Their shared rooms are the typical hospital setting with a bed, TVs, and necessities for a senior in that situation. It was cleaner than most. "

"My dad is in Brookhaven Nursing Center. The staff is very friendly. They provide everything from bedding to furniture. They have a doctor, nursing, and medication providers. They have a great dietary kitchen, so that way they can make sure that his dietary needs are met. His room is almost like a hospital setting because it's a nursing home. He has a medical bed, a little dresser, a chair, and a TV. He shares the room with a gentleman, but he's comfortable there. They have rooms for residents to chill in, and they have dining centers and activity centers. The place is clean, but you can tell it's definitely an older building."

"First of all, people with complaints are most likely to review a place. I had a short period of time to decide and actually visited 3 facilities and found Carlyle to be the cleanest (notice smells and sounds when you tour a facility) and most inviting. The place looks like a 4 star hotel with bright lights and nice crown moldings. The outdoor areas are a pleasant way to get fresh air. The therapy rooms were outstanding and provided a bright place with many options for therapy. The therapists were excellent and really made a difference in my mother-in-law's recovery from CHF(pacemaker). The nurse that worked with my mom, Jennifer, was the favorite on the hall. George, the night nurse and Clarice, the weekend nurse, were also helpful. The charge nurse (sorry I can't remember her name) was very understanding and truly advocated for some tests and x-rays that helped to monitor her lungs. They were all great to talk with about the medicines and care she needed. She was quick to complain that she waited forever for someone to respond to her call button, but she never had an accident. She was also a frustrating patient, because she would press the call button for a pillow that fell on the floor, or not being comfortable in her chair, or not being able to adjust the bed or TV. We kept telling her that the button was for pain or potty only. When she was able to get to the bathroom by herself (week 2), she would still press the button because she couldn't remember that she wasn't supposed to have someone check every time she went (they did this in the hospital to make sure she was regular). They would come and tell her that they didn't need to check any more and she would complain to me the next day that they refused to check the toilet. The staff was really patient with her. Christie in the cafeteria knew that she wasn't eating well and frequently offered to make her something she knew would be eaten (toast and fried egg, grilled cheese, etc). She even found out that my mother-in-law liked sherbet and told her she could always ask for it even if it wasn't on the menu. I tried a bite of the things they were serving and the chicken fried steak was excellent. I didn't have any complaints about the taste of any of the things I tried. I saw many times that they were short in the cafeteria and the rest of the staff worked as a team to get the meals out. I did feel that the nurses were overloaded just because they were so busy all the time. Sharon, the speech therapist, was great with my mom - so patient and helped me to better understand what my mother-in-law needed. I found the best way to make sure that your loved one is cared for is for you to be their advocate and to get to know their caregivers and to be kind. This really is a thankless job and sitting with my mother-in-law and listening to her complaints was so frustrating. She was so quick to complain, but she got better and is home now. She didn't want to eat, do therapy or stay anywhere other than her apartment.. With the nursing shortage, there is no perfect place. I do agree with the review about leaving. The social worker was hard to find and she seemed irritated when I tried to clarify what we needed for going home. You get 48 hours and it is hard to get medicines and equipment in line, but part of this is the Medicare requirement that they won't authorize anything until there is a discharge date. My mother-in-law was transported to an appointment and had the last appointment of the day with her heart doctor. The transport had told the receptionist to call when ready for pickup, but she had left before we came out and there was no driver. We called the Carlyle and they provided the number and we called. Took 50 minutes for them to come. This is not a complaint, just wished someone had explained the process better to my mother-in-law or at least given her the number to call when ready. If she has any need for rehab, I would bring her back here. "

"My wife has been at Remarkable Healthcare. She was there in February, and she has just come out. She seems to improve by the day. They do have the ongoing living system there as well. I think it’s very difficult to describe the staff because everybody is different. If you had a line up of 20 people, you’d find probably 19 different characters. As far as appearance, it’s very good; I think it’s only about 40 months old. It’s very modern and very newish. You have a physical therapist there, and you have like a gymnasium for exercise; plus, you have medical care. "

"My mom got here just few days ago. We had a terrible experience from the previous center and I was quite reluctant in choosing another facility in taking care of my mom. But when we were touring the place, I found the place neat, nice, and the people were nice, too. You feel this home-like environment. They provide short and long term care services and have a comprehensive treatment plan. Overall I am happy and comfortable with my choice "
