"My sister has moved into The Terrace at Denison. I like the caring attitude of all the staff, and the atmosphere is not hospital-like. There are pets and birds and aquariums. It looks like a place where you could feel at home. She still wants to go home, but other than that she seems happy and is eating well, which was an important factor. She hasn't been there long. She is in memory care, and they have programs for them. They're very helpful. So far, everybody has been wonderful and the food looks good. She eats three meals a day, so it's appetizing. It is not a new facility, but it appeared clean. They take her to doctors' appointments. She's not in assisted living, and the area looks clean."

"I moved my wife into the Memory Care Unit ((MCU) of Homestead of Denison 4 weeks ago after doing as much research as possible on several other facilities in the area. I was very happy to find out that the MCU is a women's only unit which is rare. I found their Admissions Director (AD) as well as their Financial Director (FD) more cooperative than most of the other facilities that I dealt with. The AD was willing to meet with me in their lobby when other facilities wouldn't even let me in the building (because of Covid-19). Watching their virtual tour on Youtube certainly helped as I wasn't able to tour in person. It certainly helped with the FD that I was working with a Elder Care Lawyer too. After a 10 day period of not seeing my wife as suggested by the staff, I finally got to see the facility first hand and meet the rest of the staff. I'm very pleased with the staff as I have gotten to know them quite well as they accepted my wife as part of their family and she tells them all how much she loves them. We did have a bit of an issue with diet as my wife needs to be dairy free and gluten free. Those issues were straightened out in a timely manner and has been good ever since. I visit my wife daily and several times have been at meal time. I've tasted most meals and they have been pretty good. It took them a couple of moves to get my wife with the right roommate, but I'm pleased that they took the time to see that that she was as comfortable as she could be with her roommate. I would like to see more activities in this area as she seems to be bored at times. Overall, I'm very pleased with with my choice of The Homestead of Denison. If the future changes I definitely WILL be back to write another review."

"My mother is in Mullican Care Center and our overall experience so far was very good. They communicate very well with the needs of my mother, and anything that's going on with my mother, they call and let me know. And also they provide good care for my mother. There's good communication with her, with the nurses, and with what's going on with her. Her overall care has been good. So far, everything has been very good. We've asked her about the food and she thinks it's good. It's been 3 weeks, and everything for the time that she's there has been really good. The cleanliness that I've seen with my mother has been good, so the cleanliness seems good."

"Dont let the small size fool you! This home is large where it counts! Mainly the size of the employees hearts and their ability to care. They dont just provide good care, they do care and thats what makes all the difference. "

"My husband is in Calera Manor Nursing Home. The facility is very clean for a nursing home and I never smelled anything bad. The nurses are all very nice and they always answered all my questions. My husband's room is nothing fancy. He has the room to himself, and it's just the standard nursing home room. He plays dominoes, and he loves the food. It is a very good facility. They will take care of your loved one. It is just a good experience."

"I toured Settlers Ridge Care Center. I loved everybody there. The admin was amazing. She walked me through everything. Her name is Emily. She was very helpful. She went out of her way and even stayed almost an hour after talking with us. Just amazing. There was no smell. It was very clean. I saw the lounge rec area, and it was fine. They had a big outdoor enclosed area for memory care. They have these two huge fat rabbits that live out there, and one of the nursing home residents takes care of them. They allow them to help feed and water and have a purpose."

"I went to take a tour of this nursing home in an effort to find a suitable place for my grandmother. The first thing I noticed was how clean the facility is. There was no smell of anything but cleanliness, and the staff was very friendly. The patient rooms seemed to be spacious and well taken care of. The residents are treated like royalty, and are always being helped and attended to. Meals seemed to be good for what it was, and fully nutritionally balanced. It seemed the staff was always ready to help out with whatever was needed. The only drawback I saw was that the day room was the same as the dining room. There was a nice courtyard where residents could go out if they desired and smoke or just enjoy the gardens. There is an onsite beauty and dental clinic which gives the residents confidence about themselves. Overall, a great facility and it seems well maintained and taken care of. "

"Very pleased with the care my dad received. The staff had a sweet, caring spirit. Though at times they may have been short handed., but that is the case in most facilities. "

"The room was very dirty. We ended up bring our own cleaning supplies and cleaned the room. Mom was on oxygen, they had no working oxygen concentrator. We brought hers from home. She needed breathing treatments via nebulization. they had no working nebulizer. She was on a mechanical soft diet. They served her bone in chicken. the brakes on the bed did not work. It almost rolled out from under my mom. Someone came to fix it, crawled under the bed. Told us it was ok. It was not. Again it rolled. We fixed it ourselves. Also they had a dog running free in the place. We took our loved one out after 3 days. "

"I found Texas State Veterans Home for my dad. The reason why we picked it is because it is only for veterans, and dad is a veteran. Anytime we want to call, they take the phone down to talk to my father. They give us updates on him because we don’t live near him. They are also very caring and seemed to like what they are doing. The rooms are not spacious, but it is clean and homey. He is in a semi-private room. They have bus trips, bingo, and game nights. They also go to the restaurants and theatre. The place is very secure and safe. "

"Pilot Point was an older facility, but was all functional. It was probably a little bit homey too. It was a sizeable nursing home; certainly it had a lot people. With my experience in a small community type nursing home, I would say it’s as big as any of that size. The cafeteria was relatively quiet. That time, Alice was more advanced. There were periods when she was pretty lucid, but most of the time she was more subdued. They tried to do therapy with her so she got all the attention. She also had a nurse on duty 24 hours. I thought they were very efficient and caring. She had a room by herself. They made sure she wouldn’t fall out of bed. I just couldn’t see what else they could have done for her. They kept her comfortable. She liked to listen to music and they would make it a point to introduce her to that or allow her to hear this. I never got there and she was not clean. A couple of times they would bring the food into a room and I would help her eat. I thought she was getting the care that I would accept. "

"Gainesville is wonderful. It is always well staffed. They feed them very well and if they are hungry between meals, they give them snacks. The place is very clean. They have activities in the morning and in the middle of the afternoon. They keep them busy. They are very good in communicating to me, if there is a change in medications or something is going on. I have not been there a couple of days and they call and tell me what is going on. "
