They get together every day and they have a little church group. They sing and try to get everyone involved. During the week, they have a night where the families can come. "We are very pleased with Willows at Sherman. My mother has been there for about three months now. What I like the most about the facility is the look and the feel of it was nice. The rooms are very clean and they feel a little bit more modern than the ones we looked at before. Their assisted living program includes everybody even taking into consideration those residents that are in their wheelchair, so everybody gets to be involved. With regard to their food, it is probably not as good as what she had at the other senior community, but it seems to be fine and I don't think there is any problem with it. This community also has a specialty in memory care. It is in the same building but in different separate section. It is a lockdown facility so that people won't wander away. I think that this facility comprehends memory care a little bit better than they had at other places I went to. She is not in that facility just yet, but when the time comes, she can just migrate to that without having to move her to another community. In general, we are very happy with this place. "

"I had an excellent tour experience at Preston Place. They were very helpful, very hospitable, and they're going to provide the care my mother needs. They're in a very nice, quiet residential area, and the price was very reasonable. The person who gave us the tour was excellent and gave us tons and tons of information. They have a chef on-site, a nice dining area, snacks available at all times, and a secure front door. You need to be let in and there's a code to get out. They have several different activities scheduled, like bingo and other things. They have a nurse on-site and a person who is available 24/7 (if she should fall), and a life alert button. So, she's going to feel very secure. It's an assisted living, and so they'll do her laundry, maintain her room, and they have a little kitchenette with good safety features. We're really happy with them. They've even got a little pet, a tame rabbit, that the residents enjoy. It's just a very pleasant, nice, light, bright, warm, and comforting place."

"I toured Traditions Senior Living and Memory Care. It would have been great, except it smelled very badly of urine. I don't have a problem with my mom not having a shower in her room, but the showers that they have available for the residents were pretty nasty. It wasn't necessarily dirty, but they needed repair badly. There was no lock on the door when they brought the residents in there and no curtain or anything. Primarily, the tour experience was pretty good. They were very upfront and direct. They seem to have activities daily. They have a calendar. The staff was very pleasant and they didn't try to hide things. You can tell they were being truthful about everything. Any question I ask them, they answer immediately. There was no subterfuge or anything. The rooms were OK. They're not huge, but they're not tiny either. It was sufficient. I would have liked more closet space. I saw that the residents had good food. The dining area was nice and clean. Everybody seemed to be comfortable and happy with the food in front of them. One of the aides was in there attending to their needs. They were having cheeseburgers and French fries, and it was fresh. You could tell it wasn't stale or anything like that. They go to the library, get in a circle and talk about their life experiences. They have activities like card games. If they want to get their hair done, they can get their hair done. They also have a fancy nails thing for the ladies. They have several small living rooms - some have a TV and some don't. But the TVs weren't blaring, so that was good. It was quiet, which is a good thing for dementia patients. They also had a courtyard inside in the middle of the building, so the residents couldn't get out and get lost. They can go in and out one door, but the other door is locked. I saw the nurse's station. It was locked off, so the residents can't go back there and mess with the medications. I didn't see a lot of staff members inside that memory care. I saw more staff members outside of memory care, in assisted living. But I did see a couple of staff members inside residents' rooms caring for them. "

"My husband is in Lake Point Assisted Living & Memory Care. It's new and they remodeled it. The staff is pretty good and knowledgeable. Care is just minimal. He has three meals a day, and he can eat in his room or eat in the dining room either way. There's a resident that is across the hall from him and he seems to be belligerent and dangerous because he wanders and he doesn't know exactly where he's at. He's pretty demented and he just wanders. He has a single room and there's no bathroom. He has to walk about 20 feet and he shares a bathroom with two others. He's on one wing that has four rooms, two on each side, and then there's a bathroom in the middle, but the bathroom and everything have all been remodeled. It's a walk-in shower, but it's shared for four people. I think that most of their patients are pretty far gone. Whenever I go to visit, at least four or five women are sitting out in this huge room by the TV or in there by the dining room. They're all in geri chairs. They're like leaned back. They sent me a picture one day of them playing bingo, so that was nice. They got him out and playing bingo. They have some activities, but I've never seen anybody go out because it's a locked facility. It's secured. I think there are about seven or eight ladies and four or five men. It's only a 16-bed, but I've never seen more than like 10 or 12 residents there. They have three staff in the morning, three in the afternoon, and then they have two at nighttime. There's been a couple of times when I was with my husband up there and they had a couple of new ladies that had come from another facility. They had come up and they were like arguing. They were argumentative and my husband seemed a little afraid of them. I was a little concerned, but I didn't say anything. I liked the regular staff that was there. The new lady was asked to do something like, "Can you go and pick up this patient's tray?" or go check on this lady, she needs to have her depends changed. The staff member just blatantly said, "No, I'm doing my job and that's it and you're not going to tell me what to do." She looked at me and then she sort of shrugged her shoulders. The other lady went off and my husband was sitting there, too. He said they're not that good. I don't know what that meant, but I was a little concerned. I've been back there a couple of times in the evening just to drop off medicine for him, and they weren't there. The food is good. When I go there to visit him, they always feed me. They said I could stay in his room with the door shut because they were on Covid. They brought us some stew that they had made. They're always making fresh food in the kitchen. It isn't a lot, but it's adequate and it's fresh and healthy. I don't see them doing many activities. There are two guys that seem to have been there a long time, one uses a walker and one uses a cane and they seem pretty good. Other than that, I've never seen any of the ladies that are there do anything but sit in the geriatric chairs. They don't converse. They're just pretty far demented or they're like nursing home patients. There's nothing there. It started where they were going to charge me $5000 a month and I said I can't afford that. Then the lady who does the admissions said, "We got him to drop down to $4200," so I gave them $4200 the first month. I got a bill this month and it was $3650, so I didn't question it. So, it went down from $5000 to $3650, that's a hefty amount, but that's an awful lot of money. He has a room and he's on hospice, too, so they provided the bed. All I had to do is bring a dresser and a couple of nightstands and his clothes."

"We have chosen Stone Brook Assisted Living & Memory Care for my husband and hopefully, he can move in this week. They cared for what I was looking for and answered all my questions. The facility looked very nice, clean, and well kept, and it felt more like home. The studio room was very nice. It had a microwave and refrigerator. The bathroom was very large for a wheelchair to go in. You can bring your own furniture. The dining room was like in a hotel with tablecloths and everything. They have a library, a puzzle room, and a TV room. They do bingo, card games, puzzles, and movie nights. They have a beautician that comes in once a week at very reasonable rates."

"Wesley Village was very nice. The staff during the tour was very nice, very thorough with us, took us around, and showed us everything. The rooms were very good. I saw a two-bedroom, two-bath, with a kitchen. It was for independent living. We came at a very inconvenient time for them. Things were kind of closed down at the time. The dining room was closed and everything. We got showed around the different type of rooms they had."

"Silver Leaf Assisted Living and Memory Care felt like a home atmosphere. My wife stayed there and it was kind of a smaller and more intimate place. Majority of the rooms were bigger with private showers. They had good food, good service, and good cleanliness. During the day, the staff service was good, and then they were kind of short staffed at night. They had basically have two people, but one would try to stay up most of the night. If they needed extra help, they would wake another person up, as they lived on campus."

"It was a fairly new facility and I liked it. They had about 90 rooms, which was quite big. The staff was very friendly as we toured the building. It had outdoor areas. Outside your window, you see a parking lot, but you had a little space where you could grow your own flowers."

"It was very nice. I have a friend whose brother has gone there and she says they're wonderful. They just seemed very helpful to any need you may have as an elderly person. They're just nice people. The rooms were small for two people. They have a salon, a small exercise room, and a sun room. The staff members I met were great."

"Just Like Home is extremely nice. It's small and they don't take many residents. They have plenty of employees per resident, so the ratio is good there. It was very clean and very homey. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. It's in the country and it's in a very nice setting. Everybody seems to enjoy it there."

"The Woodmore is a great assisted living facility. An elderly friend of mine in late stage AIDS was there and spent the last few months of his life in their care. In visiting him, I found the home to be clean & sanitary and the staff extremely friendly and attentive to his needs. The food was good- being prepared on site by professional cooks, and the activities were too numerous to count. From daily games, video games, arts, crafts & photography classes- there was never a shortage of activities to keep the residents occupied. The various amenities offered include a spa, personal mailboxes, and a gorgeous garden patio. Overall, this is a higher-end assisted living facility, and the prices are going to be higher than other comparable facilities, however; they include laundry service, Lifeline service, and transportation- which is more than any of the other facilities in the area. Overall, this is a good place for low level care. I do not have any experience with high end care. "
