"My sister has moved into The Terrace at Denison. I like the caring attitude of all the staff, and the atmosphere is not hospital-like. There are pets and birds and aquariums. It looks like a place where you could feel at home. She still wants to go home, but other than that she seems happy and is eating well, which was an important factor. She hasn't been there long. She is in memory care, and they have programs for them. They're very helpful. So far, everybody has been wonderful and the food looks good. She eats three meals a day, so it's appetizing. It is not a new facility, but it appeared clean. They take her to doctors' appointments. She's not in assisted living, and the area looks clean."

"The staff was quite pleasant and fairly quick to attend to my Grandmother's needs. She stayed there after she broke her leg to have round-the-clock care and to do physical therapy and ended up staying there for six months. They had pianos in the facility and fish tanks. The decor was nice and well-maintained. At times the food was less than desirable, however, you could order special menu items for the patient, or the family could eat with the patient for a nominal fee. She excelled at her therapy there and liked the nurses and therapists quite a bit. They brought her medications rapidly and came in to check on her several times throughout the day in addition to coming when they were called. The carpeting in the facility wasn't very comfortable, but the color was comforting enough. Several of the nurse aides were very strong and able to lift large patients. There was even a male nurse there who was young, friendly and helpful. The facility even allowed patients pets to come in and visit the patients, which was beneficial for patients to be able to see their pets. They had a coded entry system to get in the facility (in the back doors) so anyone off the streets couldn't just walk in and patients with memory issues couldn't easily just leave. The facility was close to the former hospital, which was nice while it was there. My Grandma was quite happy with her stay and the team members were helpful in making her transition over to this facility easy. They also had scheduled activities for everyday and a bus to transport patients to appointment, shopping and various places. "

"My mother is in Mullican Care Center and our overall experience so far was very good. They communicate very well with the needs of my mother, and anything that's going on with my mother, they call and let me know. And also they provide good care for my mother. There's good communication with her, with the nurses, and with what's going on with her. Her overall care has been good. So far, everything has been very good. We've asked her about the food and she thinks it's good. It's been 3 weeks, and everything for the time that she's there has been really good. The cleanliness that I've seen with my mother has been good, so the cleanliness seems good."

"Dont let the small size fool you! This home is large where it counts! Mainly the size of the employees hearts and their ability to care. They dont just provide good care, they do care and thats what makes all the difference. "

"My husband is in Calera Manor Nursing Home. The facility is very clean for a nursing home and I never smelled anything bad. The nurses are all very nice and they always answered all my questions. My husband's room is nothing fancy. He has the room to himself, and it's just the standard nursing home room. He plays dominoes, and he loves the food. It is a very good facility. They will take care of your loved one. It is just a good experience."

"My mother is a resident of the Settlers Ridgel's memory care unit. No place is perfect, but this place is very good. You always find a few people that are not easy to get along with, but overall it's a really good place, especially the rehab. The rehab is fabulous. The place itself is very pretty and looks like it has been there for three decades at least. There are lots of trees, and a very pretty courtyard that's enclosed, so it's safe. They have a little aviary in the lobby and there are bunnies in the courtyard. It's just really very pleasant and beautifully decorated. The memory portion is not as pretty as the rest of the place, but it's not bad. We are Medicare patients, and we're just grateful to be there."

"I went to take a tour of this nursing home in an effort to find a suitable place for my grandmother. The first thing I noticed was how clean the facility is. There was no smell of anything but cleanliness, and the staff was very friendly. The patient rooms seemed to be spacious and well taken care of. The residents are treated like royalty, and are always being helped and attended to. Meals seemed to be good for what it was, and fully nutritionally balanced. It seemed the staff was always ready to help out with whatever was needed. The only drawback I saw was that the day room was the same as the dining room. There was a nice courtyard where residents could go out if they desired and smoke or just enjoy the gardens. There is an onsite beauty and dental clinic which gives the residents confidence about themselves. Overall, a great facility and it seems well maintained and taken care of. "

"Very pleased with the care my dad received. The staff had a sweet, caring spirit. Though at times they may have been short handed., but that is the case in most facilities. "

"The room was very dirty. We ended up bring our own cleaning supplies and cleaned the room. Mom was on oxygen, they had no working oxygen concentrator. We brought hers from home. She needed breathing treatments via nebulization. they had no working nebulizer. She was on a mechanical soft diet. They served her bone in chicken. the brakes on the bed did not work. It almost rolled out from under my mom. Someone came to fix it, crawled under the bed. Told us it was ok. It was not. Again it rolled. We fixed it ourselves. Also they had a dog running free in the place. We took our loved one out after 3 days. "

"My father-in-law is at Clyde W Cosper Texas State Veterans Home. I liked that he is 100% covered because of his disability from the Navy, and also that everybody seems to care about him. They're just really nice people that work there. The staff is very concerned and caring and just kind to the men that are there and always willing to talk to us about my father-in-law any time that we are needing to talk to them. They've also reached out and called us when he's not having a good day and let us know how things are going. We did popcorn and a movie. We've been there when the men had their own little instruments and were playing along with the music. They've had times that they were playing different kinds of games and things. His room is very well maintained and very well kept. They have it all decorated up for Christmas right now, and it's nice. I have been there for things that they have for the regular unit and then also for the memory care unit and they do a lot of great things there. I haven't been to any nursing care facility that I would rate higher, so I think that they're great. I have talked to some people who were checking into getting their parents there and they were talking about how expensive it was going to be, but when you compare it side-to-side with a nursing home just down the road, there's no comparison. I much prefer Clyde W Cosper, so for the money, it would be a much better place to be."

"Pilot Point was an older facility, but was all functional. It was probably a little bit homey too. It was a sizeable nursing home; certainly it had a lot people. With my experience in a small community type nursing home, I would say it’s as big as any of that size. The cafeteria was relatively quiet. That time, Alice was more advanced. There were periods when she was pretty lucid, but most of the time she was more subdued. They tried to do therapy with her so she got all the attention. She also had a nurse on duty 24 hours. I thought they were very efficient and caring. She had a room by herself. They made sure she wouldn’t fall out of bed. I just couldn’t see what else they could have done for her. They kept her comfortable. She liked to listen to music and they would make it a point to introduce her to that or allow her to hear this. I never got there and she was not clean. A couple of times they would bring the food into a room and I would help her eat. I thought she was getting the care that I would accept. "

"The one that was closer to me that met our needs was North Park. It looks fine to me. I go by and visit my sister regularly, and she seems to be taken care of OK. Her room is very simple; it's got a bed and a little end table type thing. It has a wardrobe for clothes, and she can have her meals either in the room or go to the dining room and eat. She has a TV, and it is comfortable. The staff seems to be taking care of her really well. She goes to physical therapy everyday. She is on medications, and they bring her medications every day. They assist her with anything that she needs. They have group activities and things like bingo, socials, popcorn and movies, puzzles, and art classes. I have been there during the mealtime, and it seems like the meals are of very adequate portion sizes with a variety of choices of menus every day for lunch and dinner. "
