Every time I go to Brookhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (I've actually sung in there a couple of times with a friend), the staff is nice. I was singing for their entertainment as a volunteer. The facility looks good and they have activities and most of the people seem happy, but I just can't deal with the smell. That was the main thing. We were in the eating area where they do their activities and it's orderly. They have good activities. My pastor does bingo and different stuff every week.

My dad is in Brookhaven Nursing Center. The staff is very friendly. They provide everything from bedding to furniture. They have a doctor, nursing, and medication providers. They have a great dietary kitchen, so that way they can make sure that his dietary needs are met. His room is almost like a hospital setting because it's a nursing home. He has a medical bed, a little dresser, a chair, and a TV. He shares the room with a gentleman, but he's comfortable there. They have rooms for residents to chill in, and they have dining centers and activity centers. The place is clean, but you can tell it's definitely an older building.

I was a resident at Brookhaven nursing for about 4 months and in that time there were only a few staff members that did their job properly there was nurse named star she was very good at her job and got anything done and I need it done in a timely manner and then there was the CNA Joseph who was always in a good mood and singing and took care of his patients with no problems. But that's the best I could say about this place as there were several times I had to wait for hours to be changed and my backside got raw and irritated. Then when I ended up in the hospital for a week to have a procedure done I went to a different nursing home after my stay and when my family went to claim my stuff from Brookhaven there was stuff missing that was stolen my suitcase containing my laptop and other belongings along with my neck massager. I do not recommend this place to anyone it is dirty and the office staff does not care about their patients up to an including the director of nursing and the director.

My mother was there and had care I would recommend for a dog. Staff overworked and non caring....Was shown a single room but placed in a shared room. Nurse walked out of a review when we asked for their recommendations Would only place mom in isolation when we took a registered nurse to evaluate her. She had a highly dangerous condition that Brookhaven refused to treat before they were threatened. Highly RECOMMEND DON'T GO THERE.

I honestly don't even know where to start. I have an uncle in this facility and unfortunately due to his insurance he is still there. We go to visit him once or twice a week but often can not stay long because of the smell. The hallways are dirty, trash over flowing with fecal matter in them, laundry is always going missing, along with other personal items. He requires assistance with eating and drinking, so we tend do go in around lunch on the weekend to help him eat. They don't offer him water or anything to drink between breakfast-lunch or lunch- dinner, little lone come in to check or change him. Often we will get there and he is laying soiled and had been soiled since his first change 4+ hours ago. You asking nursing staff to do it and they roll their eyes or let out a huge sigh acting like it isn't their job. He's gotten numerous open wounds from not being looked after along with open sores from his toes hitting his pressure mattress pump when they are tossing him from one side to another. Seems it doesn't matter whom you talk to things are never changed or improved.

My mother went to Brookhaven Nursing Center. They were terrible. We had some issues with people getting mean with her and some of her stuff going missing, including her watch and her wedding rings. They brought her lunch tray in, set it down without telling her what was on it, and didn't cut up the food. She couldn't see. I went in there one Sunday at lunchtime, and her dessert was still covered with cellophane, but she was trying to eat it because she couldn't see. It was terrible. The place was not clean. I had to complain two or three times about the heat. My mom's chair was right next to the vent, so it was covered with mold and dust.

Brookhaven Nursing Center is a nice, clean place, and they have good food most of the time. At the beginning, I had a little problem with them giving my husband a shower, but it's under control now. Most of the staff is very friendly. They have different activities every day, and they also have church service on Saturday and Sunday mornings which they have in the dining area.

This is not a four star facility so don't be fooled. The only good thing about this facility is their rehab dept and Rehab staff. The long-term side stinks. You go to the nurses station to ask them a question and they just ignore you. the hallways smells like pee. the Wifi for patients and guests has been down for 4 months. management has turned over twice in January 2016. suggestion, don't stop here and find a better over-all facility. I'm looking to move my loved-one out.

I used Brookhaven for respite care for dad. They tried to work with him and they’re fairly understanding. I don’t have a problem with them. They’re not fancy.

I tried to get my loved one moved to this facility, but despite my best efforts and timely responses regarding paperwork, it never happened. Upon visiting the facility, I informed the staff that this move needed to happen as quickly as possible due to a death in the family (my father who was assisting my mother in caring for my bedridden grandmother within their home) in addition to an in-home aid quitting without notice. Brookhaven assured us that they would process the paperwork quickly. Throughout the following week, we received conflicting stories about bed availability and timelines. We were finally given a room number and transportation (via ambulance) was scheduled. The morning of the scheduled transfer, I took off of work to oversee the move of my grandmother to the facility. Transport was scheduled for 11am. I had the car loaded with my grandmother's belongings, including her wheelchair. I received a call 45 minutes prior to the scheduled transport that it had been cancelled because a "home visit" needed to be completed first. The liaison apologized and said that it had been overlooked and assured us she was on her way that that the transport would still happen that day...just later than originally planned. She came, met grandma, and collected payment from us. She said she would call in 15 minutes with new transport details. An hour later she called and said that there was a problem with paperwork and that there would be another delay. I started making phone calls to all the doctors involved and Medicaid to resolve the issue. Then I called Brookhaven to provide an update on my end and the director refused to take my call, advising the receptionist to inform me that there was no new information and that she would call me when there was. I gave up on trying to place my loved one in their facility and began the search again. I was able to find a new (also 5 star facility) nursing home, have the paperwork processed, and transportation scheduled within 2 days. This proved that Brookhaven's admitting staff were both unorganized and ineffective. I found them to be rude and unwilling to help my family during a time of crisis and turmoil.

My father is in Brookhaven. It is a very nice and very clean facility. It is convenient for me to look in also. The staff looks very responsive in taking care of them. Their accommodation is pretty good. He is blind and they take them to occupational therapy every day, and they teach them how to cope with being blind. I have not eaten there, but he likes the food. He says it is very good. The only thing is that not everybody knows that he can't see. So, I think maybe they should communicate a little better regarding his needs, on what he can and what he can't do. But everybody there is very nice and very accommodating.

My dad is in Brookhaven Nursing. They have great management staff and they are very coordinated. They have great activities like bingo, cards, dominoes, Sudoku and physical therapy. They had a variety of games and activities. They have movie days and gardening. It is better than the other places that I have seen. My grandfather actually liked it when he took the tour with us. I have tried the food and it is very delicious. They have two people in the room and they have a private room. They have large screen TV with basic cable, nice chairs, you can bring in fixtures and their belongings. They have a closet and dresser. The bathroom space is nice. They clean the area very nicely and they come clean the room. I will recommend them to others.

Dad is now at Brookhaven Nursing and Rehab. The place is very clean. The rooms are of medium size; very clean and very well-kept. I like this facility because the location is close to me. He has been there since October and the staff all seemed to have a very good work ethic. They all seemed very caring to the residents.
