"This is a wonderful facility that cares about its residents. They took such great care of my mother and I was so happy we found MHC. The admin staff helped my family through all necessary steps needed for her to stay in their facility. The day to day care of the nursing staff was amazing. There were several nurses and aides that went the extra mile caring for my mother and making her comfortable. The administration, therapy and nursing staff care about families, residents and each other. I would highly recommend this beautiful facility to anyone. My family can not thank them enough."

"Park Manor is a long-term nursing facility with rehab. I've referred clients there and visited it. It's in DeSoto, a well-to-do suburb of Dallas--conveniently located between two hospitals. There's good parking, too. The facility is large and presents well. It has good eye appeal and is clean. The rooms are semi-private, average--just a grade above institutional. The staff is friendly but just average skill level for speech therapy, OT, PT. They contract out for speech therapy. They just have nothing special to bring to the table. Food is average, too--institutional. And the activities are very average--nothing that sets it apart. But they meet all the state standards. There's really nothing negative about it. One plus is that Park Manor is in a friendly town with friendly people--and it gets good community support. "

"My Father was in here recently for about a month for rehab (2015) after surgery. We visited numerous times and never, ever walked into the building and smelled that urine smell or anything offensive-EVER! The place is impeccably clean. I can't say enough about the nursing staff - always, always friendly, knowledgeable, and very patient with us and my father. If you are looking for a place for your loved one for rehab or long term care, I would suggest Legend Oaks in Ennis, Texas. We have been in other facilities and they don't even compare to how nice this place was and how well they took care of my Dad. "

"After a fall, my father was permanently brain damaged. It was incredibly hard on my family as 1) he was so smart and active and independent, but 2) he was taking care of my mother who has Alzheimer's. Our world was really upside down. But things got worse because no one was helping us figure out what to do about our father/how to afford for his care/how to move forward AND he was belligerent. Ennis Care Center (and Debbie [admissions] and Sharon {head nurse]) talked us through the process and accepted our father. It was NOT easy -- he gave everyone a run for their money but Ennis Care hung with him. We have since moved him only for geographical reasons for our mother but we are so grateful to the staff, their devotion, the way they called him "Colonel" (he is retired military) and helped us transition into a new life. We cannot thank ECC enough. Don't be put off by the older building (I think I read or heard somewhere that it is the oldest building in Ennis or Ellis) because the people more than make up for it. And lastly, we have learned from looking at other facilities that Ennis makes sure all their staff rotate and learn all the names of all their people who they care for. This makes a big difference as they get to know their people AS PEOPLE. "

"My sister is at Methodist Transitional Care Center. She has been there for two and a half weeks now. They do physical therapy. They're pretty good. I would give them high marks. The atmosphere is pretty positive. Cleanliness was an issue, but in fairness, they corrected it right away. The problem there is they're short-staffed, and you can tell it affects the quality of the staff. Physical therapy is excellent. My sister's room is clean. They have activities and stuff there also. I know they play bingo and they have puzzles they work with them on. There are some more, but those are the ones that come to mind. The community dining area is very clean and spacious."

"My father has a room reserved at Odd Fellow and Rebekah Retirement Center. It's very clean and very updated. They have very friendly people. It has a library, a church, a beauty shop and a barber shop, and a very nice big dining area. It's just a really nice place. It has a country setting and he really enjoyed it."

"My friend is in rehab at Millbrook. It seems like a good place for him to be right now. They take care of him pretty good. He has a decent room, and the nurses seem good. They help him eat. He has a big room, and he has a TV and a loveseat in there. They also have the entertainment area where people were sitting and watching TV. They have a dining room. It's a pretty nice place. The first room he had was dirty, but the nurses did the best they could, and they moved him to a different room."

"The facility itself is very well sanitized. Immediately when you walk in you get the familiar smell of ammonia you find in most medical facilities. The manager, David, works very hard and cares very much for his business. The staff is what causes me to give the facility the 3 star rating, while in the presence of management or the state, the are very attentive, however, otherwise you will find a lacking sense of urgency in matters both medical and non-medical matters. I have seen many cases of patients with call lights flashing for long periods of time, or screaming patients on the floor. Overall, the facility is well kept and has potential to be a lot better. "

"There is not enough staff to patient ratio. It appears to be a big turnover with staff. They use a lot of contract employees', that really seems like only interested in a check. The pictures and statements on the website, is not true at all. There is not a television in every room; you have to supply one and the furniture you see online is not in the rooms. Patients be walking and sitting with their clothes soiled of both urine and feces. From what I saw, the staff would look dead at them and do nothing unless someone says something. The contract employees that I saw so far are mean to the patients. Some of the full time nurses and CNA's are really caring. I had the opportunity to walk through the whole facility and they need a better cleaning crew. One side smells like urine and everything else, as soon as, you walk down the hallway. I saw roaches, and the floors need to better cleaned. If you use this facility please put a camera on their side of the room. Oh, for what the State and owner makes from medical insurance, medicaid, and medicare, what State takes, and those paying out of pocket the facility is very outdated, tore up old furniture and nothing matches. I should not have to supply furniture just to have something to sit on and put clothes in. The food seems excellent that they are served and some of the activities. The day I went they were having activities, but it appears they don't try to have everybody participate, especially on the lock side try to do much of anything. When I inquired, I was told if they have the staff to watch them. I understand this is not an easy occupation, but the patients should all be treated as if they are one of their family members. I even heard staff say they take almost anybody at that facility. I visited others and they just don't take all kind of patients to make a buck. The facility grounds a pleasing to the eyes, with something to do in the courtyards, but not this place. Well long story short. We removed out loved one."

"I had a family member in this facility and they were awesome. The staff was friendly and therapy did a great job. They had some great activities and church was really good. The social worker helped us to get home health to come to the house on discharge and even ordered a wheel chair for us. "

"Renaissance Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is a wonderful nursing home. My dad is currently there. It used to be called Trinity Nursing Facility but someone else bought it. It's better than the one my brother is in. Right at the moment, it's going through a renovation so everything is a little bit messed up. It is an older nursing facility. It's not this high-tech and fancy nursing home, like the ones that are going up. This one's been around for a long time. The staff is extremely caring. When I walk in there, they're always smiling. The place is always clean. I can call anytime, night or day, to check up on my dad. I feel very comfortable with him there. He mainly enjoys just talking to other people. He has dementia. When he first got there, they had what they called a wine-and-cheese social, and they got the residents there and had different activities. Daddy enjoys just walking around, he's in a wheelchair, and just visiting with everybody. They say he'll come up and tell them hi and they all greet him. He might say something out of the ordinary and they would just go along with him. They just kept him very, very comfortable so I'm pleased with it. I had thought about moving him to where my brother is, but at the same time, I just feel like he's a lot better where he is now. When I had to find a facility for my dad to go into, Christie helped me get Dad from a hospital in Dallas to their facility. She arranged everything and she set my mind at ease. It was the easiest transition from what I had been through the past month so I was very pleased. When I was there, the food smelled wonderful. I haven't eaten any of it but my dad says it's really good."

"I had a friend in this place from 2010 until early 2012. The same friend had to go back in April 2013. I have to say the changes to the Alzheimer's unit are much better than the last time. They have remodeled and must have done a lot of staff training. The staff is very friendly and seem to treat the resident's with respect and dignity. The activities are much improved as well. I would recommend this for anyone needing placement for their loved one with Alzheimer's. "
