"I've been at Cherokee Park Rehabilitation six, eight, or even ten times over the last five-to-six years, but my insurance company said I didn't need that level of care anymore. It was founded in the early 1950s as a nursing home for elderly people of Jewish decent. They call it a rehab facility, and they also have long-term nursing-facility care that runs separately. I was in the rehab part. I've been there a number of times, and I've seen three different owners, so I know a lot about their nursing care, administration, and other stuff. It's a beautiful facility. It had award-winning architecture and award-winning landscaping. Close to the building, there are lots of open, golf-course kind of manicured lawns, and it's next to a homestead-design city park. You could watch out your window and see deer feeding, other animals, and people walking their dogs. There were several kinds of atrium-like places and glass-enclosed rooms, so you don't get that sense of being closed in a building. You're really adjacent to a lot of beautiful open space. The staff was above average, but in my opinion, in how I was cared for, many of their staff were lacking in quality and performance. Some people, particularly in the aide category, they pretty much came to work and hid. These were some of the nurses during the weekend or evening shift, and they just stayed behind the nurse's desk and read books or did their own internet kind of business. However, they also had absolutely genuine, friendly people, nurses, and aides there. The facility was a jewel."
