"My mother had a sister that was in Mercy Sacred Heart, plus she was in rehab for hip repair there as well. It was a structured environment. They had music, physical therapy activities, puzzle making, card playing, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and memory therapy. They had the opportunity to go out to eat at different restaurants, entertainment, arts, and theater. Security was excellent. "

"My husband is at Klondike Care and Rehab Center. The staff is very caring. They interact with the patients constantly. Even on their breaks, they were outside with their patients. They always speak to them by name. They are more like a family that staff. The administrator in the nursing facility always makes it a point in helping and they are always out with the patients during the day. They don't stay in their offices. I think the care that they give the patients is better than what my husband had received in other nursing and rehab places. They have private room. But my husband is in a semi-private room. The rooms were very clean and adequate. They have a lot of daily activities. They have people who come in and provide entertainment. They have outings once or twice a month for people who are able to go out. The food is adequate. However, I don’t think the food is as good as it can be. "

"Nazareth Home - Clifton Campus is nicely kept, everybody's very friendly, and they're willing to try to answer any questions you have. They're really good about printing out activities for the month, for each resident. If we want a copy, we can even get a copy of it. They've been taking really good care of my mother. The staff is very, very friendly. They've done a good job with COVID and in trying to keep the residents that came down with Covid that didn't have to go to the hospital in one section. They sectioned it off and kept them there and kept everybody else safe. As far as the workers there, when they came down with Covid, they stayed at home to recover. They've been really good about making sure that the residents had all their COVID shots and their flu shots. They've been really good about having a meeting with us to discuss what they've been doing for my mom and what the dietitian has been told to serve my mom, in terms of her meals. Everything's been nice down there. I have tasted the food and what I had has been good. Everybody pretty much gets the same breakfast unless they are on a special diet or high fiber diet like my mom. They changed my mom's from eggs, bacon, and sausage to high fiber cereal and she likes that better. They have 3 choices at lunch and dinner that they can select from. They can take whatever they want. My mom goes to the dining room where she can pick what she wants. If she wants a sandwich and she only wants a half then she can ask for it. If they have chicken tenders, she could ask for a half portion. They give all the residents an activities sheet for the whole month. That way, when relatives or visitors come to visit them and they want to know about activities, they can look and see if the resident has one and see what the activity is for the day. They have a lawn care service that comes in and services the lawn. Beyond that, there are maintenance gentlemen that take care of everything else that the lawn care service doesn't do. All the rooms are painted a neutral shade. My mom's in one of the bigger rooms that have a half-circle of four windows. She went to rehab and then they recommended that she stay in the nursing home and we kept her there. The staff is all nicely dressed and I just think they do a wonderful job."

"My husband is a resident of Nazareth Home - Clifton Campus. I like Nazareth home. It's about 12 miles one way, so that's 24 miles if I try to go up there to see him, and with the gas prices and everything going up, I just wanted to have him a little closer to home. It's been a good experience. They're nice to him, but I just wanted him closer to home. I just thought it would be nice if we could run and get him and he'd be really close. The staff has all been very nice to him and he likes them. He's on a very strict diet, so he complains about that. They only give him a certain amount, but it's because of his diabetes. He needed to lose weight and they just want to keep a close eye on his sugars and his food intake. I do take him something every now, and then when I go up there I try to take him up something special, like a milkshake or something different than what I think he will be getting there at the home. But they give him snacks, ice cream, Jell-O, and they even give him cookies at times. They're very good. I've been in there sometimes when it's kind of messy, but I think a lot of that is him. He lays in his bed most of the time and if they come in to clean his room and he'll say, "I'm all right, you can come back later," or something like that. I'm sure they're short staffed, especially after the pandemic, and I told him he just needs to let them clean his room. But I've been in there when the room is really clean, too. They have a courtyard, and they play games with them. They have music, and they have people that come in and play music and sing with them. They do bingo and the price is right for little gifts and things that they can win. He doesn't really participate in that; he's just not like that. Nobody's perfect, it's not always perfect. To me, it looks like it is clean, but I think there's always room for improvement. They're short staffed and that's hard to be dumped off on one or two people. But they have good staff and I've been satisfied. We have Medicaid, but I still pay them a lot of money a month. I know that it's not the home charging me that money, and it's Medicaid telling me what I can pay or what I'm supposed to pay, and that part I don't like, but it has nothing to do with the home."

"This was one of the cleanest and nicest nursing homes I have been in. My dad was treated like he was a celebrity when he was admitted. The nurses and aids were all fawning over him. He really loved the attention. Rooms were big and very nice, more like a hotel room than a nursing home. There was a flat screen tv with cable and a sliding glass door so he could go outside from his room. "

"My Dad suffered a serious stroke and was sent to Parkway after another facility almost killed him. The care he received at Parkway was fantastic. I could not recommend this facility enough. It might not be the most beautiful nursing home in Louisville, but if you want a place where the patients come first and the staff truly knows what they are doing, Parkway is the place to be. Thank you Parkway for saving my Dad. "

"I checked out several homes before deciding on Eastern Star for my 92 year-old mother. She has been there for 2 months and we are thrilled with the level of care and support from the staff. The meals are outstanding and I think mom has put on a few pounds since being there. They have weekly activities from bingo, to Wii bowling, to sing-a-longs, etc. They have someone that does the residents hair, and nails. We couldn't be more pleased with the level of overall care from the complete staff. "

"I stayed here twice after having one knee then the other replaced one at a time within a couple months. I loved it there. In some it may not have the newest furniture and decor but the staff is really wonderful. They are so kind and cheerful. They display enthusiasm every time they enter your room. Every person, from the Drs to the nurses and aides and down to the cleaning personnel were kind and caring. The orthopedic department was wonderful and staffed by very talented and fun therapists. The office staff in admissions and accounting are very patient oriented and will work very hard to help you with any issue. All in all, I highly recommend Hillcreek if you want to be cared for by wonderful people whom you know love their jobs. It's easy to tell. They definitely need more cable channels for TV. Don't count on coffee or tea you order with you meals to be very hot. But for my money I want a kind caring staff...don't you? "

"I've been in Clifton Oaks Care Center for over two weeks now. I'm not happy with the medical staff. The aides and almost everybody do not listen. The food here is edible, but it's nothing special. They tried to get the meals here on time and bring snacks around. This facility is quite old, and you can see where they've had to make some repairs. My room has a TV. They have physical therapy here and people that do arts and crafts. They have groups and have trips to lunch outside."

"My aunt is in Presbyterian Homes Westminster. I only have one concern. When I talked to the social services about her, she was having an issue where they didn't have her sit up for a little while. I'm going to talk to them about that to make sure that the floor nurse manager would take the lead on it to make sure it's done. They had a turnover of nurses in there and the nurses were more from an agency coming in to work. They had some COVID cases there too. I know they're busy, but she assured me that my request would be catered. I investigated it first before we sent her there, they took her as Medicaid pending. The lady there took care of the Medicaid papers. I never got to go into the building, but I talked to my wife on the phone and she's happy there and has no complaints. Everything that she has there is satisfactory. They have activities, but she's not in any shape to participate in them so she watches TV and I bring her books, snacks, and I sent that in there. I dropped off the package and they would deliver it to her room."

"The Altenheim is a lovely, small, not-for-profit facility nestled in the Highlands. The care is personalized, there are multiple activities for the residents and the staff is very caring. It is a home away from home! "

"The facilities were clean, attractive, and well appointed. The administrative staff was pleasant and knowledgeable and addressed problems promptly when they were brought to their attention. The physical therapy department was also excellent, patient and encouraging and always timely in their care. The charge nurses were pleasant, but the regular nurses seemed to be overworked and weren't always timely in their delivery of medication (my relative was on several significant painkillers due to the nature of her surgery and frequently had to call and ask for her pills because they were late). Also, at one point the nurses lost track of the administered medication and there was a miscount of the remaining prescription that was difficult to sort out. I also noted at least twice where a nurse dropped a patient's medication on the floor (because I found it later). The nursing aides were better than the nurses, always pleasant and attentive to my relative's needs. Overall the stay was pleasant, as long as you stayed on top of the nurses for accurate and timely dispensation of medication. "

"It's been over 60 days since my mother has been in Westport Place, and it was a very good experience. They took care of her very well. The rooms were very nice, and they were single rooms. The staff were very good, and they took care of her needs. She raved about the food. She didn't have the ability to go to most of the activities, but they had a lot. They had luau, they play cards, and they have crafts. They just need to improve on some of their nursing staff. "
