"I think Almaden Health & Rehab Center is a good place. I don’t really have any complaints. My mother’s complaints would probably be that a lot of the staff doesn’t speak English very well and do not understand what she’s saying. When she says that she needs something, they touch everything to see what she’s talking about. I would say that the care she is receiving is good. The community seems very clean. I don’t think you can really help the food. When you’re on a certain kind of diet, it can be boring. "

"The staff was very helpful. Los Gatos Meadows is set up so that you have your own individual apartment. The food was very good. The dining room was very elegant and overlooks the valley. It didn't have the cafeteria feel to it. It is just gorgeous. They have afternoon movies, readings in the library, a lot of people will go in one of the memory care areas where they can play and watch video games, and they have field trips. "

"My mother is in the Camden PostAcute Care in Campbell. My first impression is that it is a converted motel because it looks like an old motel. Other than that, it looks like it's well-kept, clean, and tidy inside. I think the staff is doing an okay job from what they tell me, although my mom claims that she's not getting showered enough there. They give my mom therapy two or three times a week. The dining area and the food look really good. My mom gets served hot food and coffee there, and it looks very good."

"The most important part were the staff - and actually the other individuals living there; having people who were nice (no grumpy old guys who would throw things) was important. One definite negative was parts of it smelled very strongly - of medical chemicals, etc. - but I tended to stay away from those.. "

"My grandmother is now at Our Lady of Fatima. I didn’t find anything to complain about except that they need to have more activities. My grandmother will be 100 years old in a couple of months, but she’s still very active and very alert. She likes to be entertained and to participate in bingo. The grounds are beautiful. The food looks good to me, but I don’t know how it tastes. The staff is wonderful. When I was there, my grandmother was kind of demanding, and she’s kind of cranky sometimes, but they handled it very well. They’re very efficient, willing to help, and very friendly. The room has a bed, a table, and a tv. They do have a dining room, and they do exercises in there. They also show movies and play bingo once a week. "

"This facility is truly serving the residents with the best care, personal dignity and protection of resident rights through outstanding medical care and understanding of the person as a “whole person” in need of advocacy when suffering through declining health issues. I feel my loved one is really being treated as a person and not just another patient coming from a hospital. Thank you to your wonderful Doctor and team of caregivers. My loved one is now thriving, smiling and able to love and be loved by her family again. Bless you all! You understand! "

"Amberwood Gardens is the only one available. Actually they were talking about having to look at the Central Valley area to places we would never be able visit my dad. They were releasing him, but they could not release him back to his home. This facility is the first one that came up. The staff was incredibly kind and caring. They seem to enjoy their job. They have been great. They have kept in contact with my sister who is the primary contact. We have no complaints as far as being kept abreast. I try to visit my dad almost every other day, and the facility always looks clean. I'm pleased with that aspect for sure. "

"Lincoln Glen Manor was very nice and much smaller with nice-sized rooms. The dining was fine, and the food was good. They had a chapel, cottages with patios, and nice landscaping."

"What I really like about the building is it is super clean, no smell of a nursing home. The staff seem to have worked there for a very long time and the charge nurses always seem nice and friendly. "

"We were referred to Willow Glen by the hospital and we chose it because it was by our house. The staff was excellent. They were very good. My father was in a shared room. It was very clean and large. My father really liked the food there because they would give him the menu and if he didn't want something, he would just cross it off and they would give him other options, i.e., cheeseburger or sandwich, so he would just write in what he wanted. The food was very good. He really liked the food. He could eat in his room or in the dining area. The dining room was big and nice. They did have activities, i.e. church services on Sunday, but my father didn't really like to go to activities. What I like best about this facility was that it was very clean and friendly. I would recommend this facility to others. "

"White Blossom is a surprisingly nice facility from the looks of things. Prior to visiting my grandfather, I had thought that most of these facilities would be drab and depressing. It was quite the opposite. The decor was bright and lively, the patients were out and about doing things, and the staff was cheerful. The building had several large common areas that were connected to the rooms where patients can sit and get fresh air and talk to one another. They even have a valet parking service. The rooms themselves were fairly large, but my grandfather's in particular was shared with two other people. I don't know if the home places patients based on personalities, but the other patients in my grandfather's room were of similar types, and they got along well. This really helped my grandfather not feel lonely when we couldn't be there for him. The food appeared good, but my grandfather claimed it was inedible. It's a toss-up if this was due to the food, or due to his weakened appetite. The only negative that I would give to White Blossom is that their staff does not want family members assisting a patient with things like visiting the restroom. However, this is understandable, since my grandfather was hooked to an IV at the time. Overall, it was a good place for him to recover in, and I'm sure he wasn't too put off by the experience. "

"My mother went to Skyline, and it was very good. The staff was good and took care of her pretty well. They had doctors and were open to meetings with family members. "

"I was required to volunteer in this nursing facility for community-based learning at my university (Santa Clara University). I visited with residents every Friday afternoon to socialize with them and help complete afternoon activities; these mostly consisted of arts-and-crafts-type things, like making Valentine's Day cards and decorating pillows. The residents were mostly very nice and seemed content and satisfied with their services. I also helped serve afternoon snacks and participated in trivia games with residents. Every staff member I met with was kind and patient, and seemed to generally care about the residents. The facility itself was fairly nice, modest in decor, but seemed to contain all necessary amenities to make residents feel comfortable and at home. There were a large number of nurses always milling around; no one resident ever seemed to be left without care. Overall, it was a good experience for me and was in a prime location to either walk or bike from my school, which was important in my enjoyment of working there. "

"My grandmother has been living here for over 8 years now. She is almost 90 years old and I visit often so I do notice the quality of living here. The staff for the most part are very friendly and helpful. They smile when I enter and promptly help me when I'm looking for extra bed sheets, towels, or something else. The facility is also very clean, will clearly labeled signs at every hall and on every door. My grandmother is diabetic and also has high cholesterol, so her meals have special requests and specific instructions. She is to never receive juice with her meals; only hot water. She also needs to have her food blended so it is easier to chew and digest. There are many more specific meal requests we put in for her. Throughout the past decade, they have for the most part followed these guidelines very well, which is amazing. The facilities are good here as well. There is a fitness room with age-appropriate equipment. There is also a common room where daily activities are held, such as bingo or movie night. There's also a piano in this room, which sometimes prompts performers to come and play various songs for everyone. Overall, this place has a friendly and caring atmosphere and an effort is made to fill everyone's day with fun and a positive living experience. "
