I was at Frederick Health and Rehabilitation Center for a month. Overall, it was OK. There were a few problems, but I think they could be corrected easily if they would try. For one thing, the meals they served were never accurate. I needed certain supplements and half the time, the supplements were not there and I had to ask for them. The other thing was there was a very long wait for the nurses to respond to the call button. Most of the staff was good. They were very competent and took good care of me. It was just getting their attention that was the most difficult. I liked the fact that they did take good care of me. They had good and friendly people and they seemed to have good training. There weren't enough people, though, to cover all the patients they had.

My mother had a massive stroke, requiring total care and arrived here in November 2022 from an abusive facility we pulled her out of in Alexandria, Virginia. We can't be more pleased with the effort Frederick Health and Rehabilitation puts into my mother's care on a daily basis. They have fun activities my mother loves, they have a knowledgeable staff, they are working hard to change my mother in a timely manor to prevent bedsores, they listen to my concerns, and thus far, have taken action to address them and better my mother's care. They have been communicative with myself and my family and they seem to really care about pleasing the residents and families alike. I still feel I need to advocate for, and oversee my mother's care in order for her to flourish, however, that being said, I can sleep at night knowing my mother is in a family oriented, well staffed, knowledgeable, and compassionate facility when I'm not there.

From the first contact with the staff to set up care and rehab for a loved one, until it was time to come home. I was impressed with how professional and personal the facility's employees handled and guided my family in setting up the care for my aunt. I was kept informed and updated if there was any change in condition. She had the care that family would have received at home. And the atmosphere in the facility was a healthy and a positive environment.

I am very satisfied with Golden. They have changed management, and I have seen a big improvement in my husband. He had made friends, is not so anxious, and seems happy. They are working with him in therapy, and he's now walking. I'm hoping for good things there. The food is cold, and they're working on that. It was not appealing, but edible. Their staff is very good and honest, which is an important thing.

It's an older building, but it's OK. It's a shared room, so it's kind of tight, but they are OK. The dining area is very big in Golden Living Center, and their food is good. Their staff is nice. They seem to get their job done and get the patient out as soon as they can. The patients seem to like the nurses and the staff there, which is important.

Not the best place in the world. The management says all the right things but this philosophy is not carried forward by the nursing staff, many of whom speak limited English. During the week, my loved one appears to be well taken care of but on the weekends, not so much. There also appears to be a lot of confusion as it pertains to her medications and plans set for by her doctors or the facility’s doctor. There has been a lot of turnover in the past several months related to the facility’s medical supervision. This is actually a good thing but the nursing staff and the new medical management company, that is now working with Golden Living Frederick, are not on the same page yet. I am in the process of looking for another place for my loved one.

This place almost killed my dad. He went in to get better and they needed to monitor his fluid but didn't. It took me going in there and noticing that he had chills and fever. They just dumped him at the nurses station. He ended up back in the hospital. I visited this place every day and the people were just laying around.
