Nursing Home Communities in Leesburg, VA

"My parents are in Potomac Falls Health and Rehab Center. My mom moved in October, and my dad has been there since the end of July. It was recommended by the hospital when dad was released, and it was the only place that actually had long-term beds at that time. We've been having outdoor visits because nobody's allowed inside since COVID. It's been good so far. It's all good. Everybody is really nice there. My mom is not so crazy about the food there, but my dad says it's fine, so I think it's been OK. It's almost a brand new facility. It was only built a few years ago, and it's very nice inside. I've only been able to go to the lobby, but it's a very nice facility. It's clean, and it's very well decorated. I liked the convenience of it. It's not far from my house. The people there are very nice, and my parents are both in the same place, which makes it nice. They have physical therapy and occupational therapy, but it's done in their room. They can't meet in a group environment. They just got their COVID vaccine shots last week, and they will get the next shot on the 18th. My dad will get his shot in February. Medicaid pays for their room and board."

"Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Virginia is like the gold standard. My aunt was there for 10 days, possibly two weeks at most. It's an amazing facility. It was very clean. The one caseworker I had a year ago was not great. I requested the change, and so I had a different one, and she's amazing. They did a great job with therapy. They monitored her carefully when she got a UTI. They had actual doctors. I got to talk to doctors while she was there. She had a large room. They accommodated her palate when she wasn't gaining enough weight. They worked with her and a nutritionist to find things that she would enjoy eating. They even gave her a protein ice cream just to make sure that she was getting what she needed. They were very organized and very detailed. We had copies of everything that she did. She knew when they were going to come and pick her up, so she could be ready. They take such good care of the patients there. With the exception of that one case manager, everybody was amazing and super helpful. They even trained us, the family, on how to safely help her from a chair into a car or from the wheelchair to the bed. They educated us. They even gave me a book on chemical brain injuries, so I could understand what she was going through. It really is like a magical place. The therapy room was massive, and everything was clean. It never smelled. They had a dining area, but they did not have activities and stuff because it was only for shorter stays."

"My friend is in Dulles Health & Rehab Center. The place is very, very clean. This is probably the cleanest one that I've been to. The people are very nice. It's very easy to get around the space. I've only been there once, but my first impression was it's very a nice place. The staff members are very attentive. My friend wanted to walk to his room, and one of the girls noticed that it was still a long walk, so she came with a wheelchair, which he appreciated. He arrived just after dinner, so they made sure they grabbed him dinner so he could have something to eat as well. They were just very attentive and right there, as soon as you walked in, you were greeted by a nice gentleman right up front. I saw a rehab room, it was very spacious, and it had a lot of rehab equipment in it. The building itself is very nice. They have wide open spaces which I find to be nice. It is in a nice setting. The back window opens right in the back, so you can see the trees and the little park area, so it's nice."

"Buckingham's Choice was a very nice facility, very nicely laid out, the resident were friendly, and the food I sampled for lunch was very good. The lady that showed me around made arrangements for me to have a private lunch with a couple, so I was able to ask them questions, and that was helpful. It was a very good tour. There were adequate amenities and activities for the residents. They have a little chapel, a salon, an exercise room, and an arts and crafts studio."

"The staff that I have interacted with are all extremely polite and caring and know how to handle the residents. The food is delicious as they were kind enough to feed us when we came to visit. I really like how the entryway is all painted to look like different outdoors spaces and one nook has the sounds of birds playing near a bench. The only negative thing that I can think of is that the air conditioning unit in my grand mother's room was not working when I last visited. I assume that it has since been resolved. "

"The staff was very kind to us but there is a trend of indifference to the senior citizens. The staff will treat them respectfully but often times they will ignore certain cries of pain or discomfort coming from them. This is most likely due to their desensitization from working there too long, and it is understandable. The amenities have everything the seniors living there need but nothing more. There is a cafeteria where they will eat all of their meals, and there is a location where they have group activities. Aside from that, the people living there are mostly confined to their rooms or social areas scattered throughout the facility. In these little social areas people just watch TV or sit quietly to themselves. The facilities are clean and presentable, but nothing stands out. Overall the atmosphere there is very sterile and comfortable, but it seems very dull. I think there can be a stronger emphasis on community and group activities. "

"My husband was here to receive rehab from a broken hip the service and staff was kind and attentive to my husband besides a broken hip he was blind staff worked with him and was able to come back home we wanted to thanked the staff and facility for what they done to get him better God bless each and everyone that helped him I would recommend this facility to others "

"The Village at Rockville-A National Lutheran Community was very nice, but the room itself was just a room with a bathroom. So for the price, it just didn't seem adequate. Other than that, it's a beautiful, big facility with a very nice cafe. They had a worship chapel, different clubs, other rooms for the seniors to be entertained, and a library. The lady who gave the tour was very nice, very polite, and also helpful about giving suggestions that there may be some community or faith-based assistance with the cost as the price was quite high for us."

"Asbury Village was recommended to us by a number of my mother's friends, and I had also come across it in various senior publications. It's a large property, and it has a number of different villages designed for different needs, and I like that. There were also a lot of activities for the residents to partake in. The rooms are very pleasant. It's nicely laid out. They have all of the safety grips that elders need. I like their philosophy and how they approach caring for senior citizens. "

"My sister is in rehab at Wilson Health Care Center. She's very comfortable where she is, but she has not been there very long. Her room is OK. She likes having people around her all day. The caregivers are OK, but my sister is difficult."

"I chose Manor Care because of its location and the rehab facilities. About the rooms, I wouldn't say it's spacious but its comfortable. I haven't tried the food there as my father hasn't moved in yet. Our other relatives are still deciding if they should go for Manor Care or look for some other facilities. "

"My father was at Collingswood for about five weeks after suffering a stroke. Our overall impression of Collingswood was very positive. The rehabilitation staff was truly wonderful, very professional, upbeat, and hard working. They absolutely could not have worked harder to hasten my father's recovery. He also enjoyed working with them. The nursing staff did a great job especially considering their work load. He always got his medications and care on time. They were friendly and engaged my father in conversation. It was wonderful to have the dialysis center on site. The schedule got changed around a couple of times and that affected our visiting schedule but we just had to check and see when he was scheduled for dialysis and work around it. The administrative staff was also very friendly and helpful and took time explaining insurance and medicare coverage. "

"The nurses and staff were very friendly. They treated everyone as a person and not as a name on a clip board. The facilities were very clean and organized. There were activities all day for seniors to take part in. The nursing home was next to a park were senior could walk or sit on a bench. There was a community room for everyone to interact with one another. The food was good and served three meals a day. The rooms were large and everyone shared a room with one other person. They allowed seniors to hang photos on the wall. There were plenty of nurses available to help everyone. The senior home was affordable and easy to work with. On the holidays the senior home would decorate the hallways and the community room. They celebrated everyone's birthdays with cake and cards. It was a good place to put a loved one. "

"My sister and I like Willow Tree Manor. It's closer than driving to Annandale or Alexandria. I moved her to be closer and everything seems to be going fine. The place is OK. It's not home, but the staff is very friendly. I like it a lot. They have regular activities for all sorts of things. Sometimes I take my sister out to lunch or we just play cards or watch TV, but I think she's happy. She has a bed by her window, and we dressed it up a little with curtains. They're flexible in how you fix up your room or which way to turn your bed. The food is not bad; better than what we had. They aim to please because my sister had all sorts of options as a vegetarian. They spoke with her, and she gets what she wants to eat. I'd say this place made me comfortable, free of concern, and happy for my sister. They had activities like an Easter egg hunt, cooking, games, and exercises. They keep people busy. The managers and all of the staff have been very helpful, friendly, and down-to-earth. It is a lovely place for people to be in "
