"My mother is in Oak Springs of Warrenton. I picked them because they have an Alzheimer's unit that has full care. This place takes beautiful care of her. They have medicines to make her stop crying. They bend over backwards to get her back to where she is actually smiling, and I love it. I love that place. It is very pretty. They have a garden with tomato plants for each different unit. They have rehabilitation, a full long-term nursing care, and full long-term nursing care for people with Alzheimer's and dementia. The floors are clean. The food comes in on a serving cart that they bring to the table. It is not pre-plated; they plate it right there while they are waiting, and nobody gets cold food. It is absolutely wonderful, and the set-up is unbelievable. They have activities like music, movies, and karaoke. A guy comes in and sings. They play something called jingo. They have 3 or 4 different churches that come in on Sunday mornings. Every other week, they have a black gospel choir that comes in about 2:30 in the afternoon. I witness it when I come in there, and my mother loves it. They just think of just about everything. "

"My aunt is at Poplar Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center. The staff is very friendly and very attentive. It's currently being remodeled, so the rooms and everything are immaculate and very clean. You walk in, and it smells like bleach. It's not dreary or dark. They have a lot of activities, and my aunt is not one to go out for activities, but they have encouraged her to go out. There's bingo. They have coffee and donuts, or coffee and cinnamon rolls, and things like that. It's a nice facility. It has that homey feel to it. Everybody's comforting. It's been a really good experience. Of all the places that she's been, this has been the best, and she said that she doesn't want to leave, which is the first time she's ever said that about anywhere. It is a positive environment. The first day I went in, I interacted with the main director of the building, not just the admissions person. I met multiple people, and they were all very friendly and very helpful. I haven't had to do anything on my own. Anything that I couldn't figure out how to do, they've been there. If you are private pay, you can get a single room, but because she has Medicaid, it is a shared room. I think it's been good to have the shared room because it kind of forces her to interact with people. They have shared and unshared rooms, but the remodeled area is nice. They've built the cabinets into the walls, so it's easier to get wheelchairs around the bed, and the bathrooms are better equipped than any of the other places to help my aunt get in and out of the wheelchair, like the bars to hold on to and the seats and stuff are a lot nicer. They are walking distance from the hospital, too, which is also nice. It's nice and almost brand new inside. Every single day, they give them a list. In our meeting, they asked my aunt personally, "Are there things that we can add to the activities calendar that you would enjoy doing?""

"The staff that I have interacted with are all extremely polite and caring and know how to handle the residents. The food is delicious as they were kind enough to feed us when we came to visit. I really like how the entryway is all painted to look like different outdoors spaces and one nook has the sounds of birds playing near a bench. The only negative thing that I can think of is that the air conditioning unit in my grand mother's room was not working when I last visited. I assume that it has since been resolved. "

"My friend is in Dulles Health & Rehab Center. The place is very, very clean. This is probably the cleanest one that I've been to. The people are very nice. It's very easy to get around the space. I've only been there once, but my first impression was it's very a nice place. The staff members are very attentive. My friend wanted to walk to his room, and one of the girls noticed that it was still a long walk, so she came with a wheelchair, which he appreciated. He arrived just after dinner, so they made sure they grabbed him dinner so he could have something to eat as well. They were just very attentive and right there, as soon as you walked in, you were greeted by a nice gentleman right up front. I saw a rehab room, it was very spacious, and it had a lot of rehab equipment in it. The building itself is very nice. They have wide open spaces which I find to be nice. It is in a nice setting. The back window opens right in the back, so you can see the trees and the little park area, so it's nice."

"I would give Fairfax Nursing Home a high rating and that would be my first choice for my mother. I just noticed everyone seemed happier there at the time of my visit. They had a little breakfast room that had nice and comfortable furniture. Their rooms seemed to be spacious. We spoke to the person who gave us the tour and she was very good. What I like best about this place was that it did not smell. "

"This facility treated my great-grandfather with the upmost respect. The staff was very friendly and treated all of us like family. They even had a cat that would wonder the floor, or building I should say. It was just a stray cat and when asked about it they said that the residents really enjoyed it so they didn't want to put it out. "

"My brother is at Burke Health & Rehabilitation Center. The care seems good. They seemed to be attentive. The food is OK. The OT and PT are very good. They seem to be adequately staffed, which is something that's kind of unusual in the rehab facilities that we've been in in the past. I can generally find somebody and they come in pretty quickly. It seems to be older, but it's clean."

"The food is absolutely delicious. The best food I've ever had at a community and I've been to a lot of communities. The staff is so warm and caring and it seems like they truly care about their residents."

"I have very high regard for The Virginian. My wife stayed in their skilled nursing facility for about 50 days. The service was good and the meals were terrific. They fed my wife along with the other residents of the skilled nursing facility the same menu as the residents who were fed on independent living and assisted living areas of the facility. The staff was outstanding. They published a calendar of activities and brought them to my wife's attention, but there was no interest. The pricing seemed to be not that bad compared to other senior facilities. I would rank them very highly on the cost side. Given the pricing information on what it would cost, it seemed competitively pretty good. A woman by the name of Lorna, who manages one of the wings of the skilled nursing facility, went out of her way on the day of my wife's discharge from the hospital. This lady kept her office open till about 7:15 in the evening to ensure that my wife could be fully checked in. But that was just one of many, many five-star things that the skilled nursing facility did for my wife while she was there."

"Potomac Falls Health and Rehab Center has provided my wife excellent care and support. The health care staff ( RNs, LPNs, CNAs, wound nurses, etc.) are very caring and competent and do a very good job of providing what is needed ( meds, clothing changes, etc.). Even have a foot care person who visits to do toe nail trimming and care. The business front office staff and reception staff is also very caring, accommodating and helpful. The Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy staff is without a doubt the best ever. All are extremely well trained and knowledgeable in their profession. They have done wonders in getting my wife rehabilitated and are always showing how much they care. They are great at motivating and cheering on my wife to achieve rehab goals and utilize the myriad of equipment within the therapy gym effectively and efficiently. I have never seen such a motivated staff and they truly love their jobs and the patient always feels they are the most important person in the room. I can't say enough how much I appreciate what the PT and OT therapy staff has done in helping my wife rehab. My wife will be leaving to go home within days of this review which was only made possible by the efforts and support provided by this extraordinary therapy staff."

"My mom is doing great at Falcons Landing. She likes the place and the support she receives. They're wonderful. They're compassionate and caring. They go out of their way to care for her. The grounds are manicured and beautiful. Her room is spacious with a private bathroom. The dining room has a pleasant atmosphere and serves very good food. They also offer a variety of activities."

"I had reservations about even visiting this facility based upon the horrible reviews on the web, however, I was EXTREMELY surprised upon my visit and interaction with the staff while there. This center is obviously under a new manager and she is dedicated to the 'betterment' of the care for each patient there. My loved one is there for rehab and the therapy is great. She doesn't much care a lot for the food but the manager assured me she would make sure her preferences were honored. All in all, I think this facility has been given a bad rap based upon a bad past history. I would recommend this center to anyone. By the way, it does NOT smell at all and the patients appear happy. "

"My mother was a resident at Iliff Nursing Home for 61/2 years. I am so thankful that she was well taken care of. The staff became her family away from home. They made her feel special. It is true that sometimes the response from the nurses/nurses aids weren't as prompt as we would like it. However we have to remember that they have a very though job taking care of all their patients that are all incapacitated. The staff is adequate and caring. They have lots of activities that my mother used to enjoy . She had the best medical care and I was kept well informed. After a two day stay in the hospital we were told that she needed to go into Hospice care . We decided to take her back to Iliff so that she could be among her own surroundings. She passed away peacefully 11 days later. On my many visits I interacted with some residents and I got positive feedback. I have visited people in other nursing homes and I will say that Iliff is in the top of my list. "

"My friend stayed at Inova Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for over a month. They were trying to get her to be able to walk again. As a rehab, it was nice. They had all the services that my friend needed at the level she needed them. The food was good. They would bring the food to her. Everything was good about it. The therapy appeared to be good. It wasn't successful, but they gave it a shot. They did physical therapy with her pretty much every day, trying to get her to be able to walk. As best as I can tell, as a nonmedical person, they seemed to be doing a good job. Things were a little bit dated, but other than that, it was a nice facility. It's not a cheap place. She has insurance that paid for the first month. Then after that, she had to pay. They have a nursing facility above it, but my friend was in the rehab portion. It was expensive. If my friend could afford it, she would go back there."
