Nursing Home Communities in Manassas, VA

"We had chosen a place for my mom but she had passed away. She was at Lake Manassas Health and Rehab. There's a lot of phone communication and through-the-window communication with them. They were very responsive. If I had an issue, they were quick to address it with the staff. I think they took really good care of Mom. My mom was there for two months. We did get to go in the morning that Mom started having seizures. That's the one thing that I love about this place is that they let me and my dad come in and visit her the day before she passed away. We had to do everything like temperature, put on masks, gowns and gloves, but we got to go in and be with her. It was great. Very clean, very organized, and bright. It looked like a great place. It was during COVID, we couldn't get in there to help out with Mom. Her room was very nice. It was a single room with a shared bathroom, with a woman next to her. Their shower and the bathroom were in there, so they didn't have to go down the hall. I talked to the front office more than I got to talk or meet the other staff. They were excellent. I thought the value for money was excellent. I know that they have activities person (activities director), and that they had calendars up but because of COVID, they couldn't mingle. The best thing about this place is that they only have one case of COVID."

"I was in long-term care at Manorcare. Their care was very good. The aides were indifferent, but the nurses were great. The physical therapists worked hard, but their equipment wasn't up-to-date, they didn't have enough of this, and they didn't have enough of that, so the physical equipment to work with was very bad. The rooms were OK and large, but the bathrooms were not very clean, which bothered me while I was there. They cleaned several times a day, but there was always trash on the floor. Their care was good, and their food was pretty good too."

"This facility treated my great-grandfather with the upmost respect. The staff was very friendly and treated all of us like family. They even had a cat that would wonder the floor, or building I should say. It was just a stray cat and when asked about it they said that the residents really enjoyed it so they didn't want to put it out. "

"I am the husband of a patient with late stage Alzheimer's. I am satified with the care she receives which includes careful attention to what she eats, periodic reviews of her medications, and appropriate physical therapy. I am personally made to feel welcome when I visit. "

"My brother is at Burke Health & Rehabilitation Center. The care seems good. They seemed to be attentive. The food is OK. The OT and PT are very good. They seem to be adequately staffed, which is something that's kind of unusual in the rehab facilities that we've been in in the past. I can generally find somebody and they come in pretty quickly. It seems to be older, but it's clean."

"My mom has been living at Heatherwood Retirement Community for a month, and so far we're very pleased with everything. The people and the facility are great. It's a super convenient location for us which is the key thing. Her apartment was remodeled right before my mom moved in and it has a full kitchen. They have outings, Bingo, movies, and physical stuff. They have a little church service they do on the weekends. The food is not gourmet, but it's pretty good. The staff is really nice, friendly, and seemed to be doing their job really well. They're also engaged with the residents. The facilities are on the old side, but they're being renovated. It's very good value."

"My friend is in Dulles Health & Rehab Center. The place is very, very clean. This is probably the cleanest one that I've been to. The people are very nice. It's very easy to get around the space. I've only been there once, but my first impression was it's very a nice place. The staff members are very attentive. My friend wanted to walk to his room, and one of the girls noticed that it was still a long walk, so she came with a wheelchair, which he appreciated. He arrived just after dinner, so they made sure they grabbed him dinner so he could have something to eat as well. They were just very attentive and right there, as soon as you walked in, you were greeted by a nice gentleman right up front. I saw a rehab room, it was very spacious, and it had a lot of rehab equipment in it. The building itself is very nice. They have wide open spaces which I find to be nice. It is in a nice setting. The back window opens right in the back, so you can see the trees and the little park area, so it's nice."

"My son is at HealthSouth. They’re great and doing everything they can to rehabilitate him with therapy five hours a day. They have a common dining room. I don’t know how the food is since I haven’t tried it, but he seems to like it. The patients select what they’re going to have at the next meal. At the previous meal, they bring out a menu with a selection of quite a few items. They can either go to the dining room or eat in their room. My son has only been there for a few days, so he has been eating in his room. Overall, there’s nothing to improve on. They’re doing their jobs. Their staff is friendly and seems to be working hard. "

"I have very high regard for The Virginian. My wife stayed in their skilled nursing facility for about 50 days. The service was good and the meals were terrific. They fed my wife along with the other residents of the skilled nursing facility the same menu as the residents who were fed on independent living and assisted living areas of the facility. The staff was outstanding. They published a calendar of activities and brought them to my wife's attention, but there was no interest. The pricing seemed to be not that bad compared to other senior facilities. I would rank them very highly on the cost side. Given the pricing information on what it would cost, it seemed competitively pretty good. A woman by the name of Lorna, who manages one of the wings of the skilled nursing facility, went out of her way on the day of my wife's discharge from the hospital. This lady kept her office open till about 7:15 in the evening to ensure that my wife could be fully checked in. But that was just one of many, many five-star things that the skilled nursing facility did for my wife while she was there."

"My father is currently at Envoy of Woodbridge. The facility is outstanding, and the staff is fantastic. They treat me very nicely. Their dining area is outstanding. I haven’t tasted the food, but my father seemed OK with it, and to me it looked good. They do a variety of activities from what I could see. They have games, and the time I was there I saw that they have a TV for football. I would recommend this facility to anyone. "

"I have stayed at Greenspring Senior Living. You get good care there. It's closer to my daughter, she can be there in ten minutes from her work and her home, and that is very convenient for me and her. I also liked the activities, the physical therapy team was wonderful, it was well kept, it was clean, and you had your own, big, private room. I was very friendly with the staff, I got along well with them, and they've all been wonderful to me there. I stayed there for thirty days. They treated me well, everything was excellent, and the food was good. Beautiful dining area, you can eat in your room, or the dining area. They would take you on trips, to movies, to dinner, and then in the building, they had bingo, they had a church, and all kinds of church services for different denominations. They had different types of functions. Like, one time they had a dance for the senior citizens and everybody was dancing and all like that. It was fun. And, they have different activities for people that have difficulty remembering and they have beadwork, they have guessing games, and things like that. They've got good hairdressers, and the gym is super. They only have a two-choice menu for the food."

"We visited Greenspring. I liked its location. It was near the things we wanted to go to. We saw the dining room, but we didn't visit any apartments. It was huge, which was one thing that I didn't like about it. "

"My mother goes to Leewood for respite. I have nothing but good things to say about them! They take care of my mom, she loves being with them. She's always happy to see everyone and her friends! She participates in activities, she eats very well there and she has fun! My mother is a stroke patient, she is unable to speak many words as well as use her right arm. They are always assisting her and making her comfortable! Amy- the director, always goes beyond the call of duty. She runs a wonderful place, and it shows by the caring nature of her staff! When my mother is in their care, I literally have nothing to worry about! They are our second family, and I am truly blessed to have them in our lives. "

"My mother was a resident at Iliff Nursing Home for 61/2 years. I am so thankful that she was well taken care of. The staff became her family away from home. They made her feel special. It is true that sometimes the response from the nurses/nurses aids weren't as prompt as we would like it. However we have to remember that they have a very though job taking care of all their patients that are all incapacitated. The staff is adequate and caring. They have lots of activities that my mother used to enjoy . She had the best medical care and I was kept well informed. After a two day stay in the hospital we were told that she needed to go into Hospice care . We decided to take her back to Iliff so that she could be among her own surroundings. She passed away peacefully 11 days later. On my many visits I interacted with some residents and I got positive feedback. I have visited people in other nursing homes and I will say that Iliff is in the top of my list. "
