Manassas, Virginia, is a prosperous small city rich in historic charm, arts and culture for older Virginians. It has an accessible location that’s less than an hour from Washington, DC, and it has below-average crime rates for the peace of mind of homebound seniors. About 10% of the city’s population is aged 65 and above. This older age group is supported by senior services through Prince William County, as well as a local senior center. Manassas is also home to UVA Prince William Medical Center, a highly rated hospital in the stroke care field. There are several home care agencies serving the area, and their average cost for home care, according to Genworth Financial’s 2021 Cost of Care Survey, is $5,339 per month.
Below we’ve compiled a comprehensive directory of every home care provider in Manassas– complete with services offered and reviews from families who’ve actually used the service. In addition to our in-depth provider listings, we’ve compiled resources to help seniors and their families to access all the tools they need to age in place safely and gracefully.

This time around I’ve gotten some pretty great care partners. BUT THAT WHERE IT ENDS. THE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE OFFICE AND THE PATIENT, THE SCHEDULER AND THE OFFICE IF HORRIBLE. I RECEIVED A SCHEDULE AND TOTALLY UNABLE TO PRINT. EVEN HAD AN IT PERSON COME OVER AND TRY EVERY THING OUT THERE. NO LUCK!
THEY ARE THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF DEALING WITH. MOST OF THE TIME CAN’T GET THE SAME PERSON TWICE ALL THEY WANT IS THEIR $$$$$$. CAN’T EVEN GET THAT SET UP CORRECTLY.
IM SURE THERE ARE OTHER COMPANIES OUT THEIR WHICH I INTENT TO RESEARCH.
YOU LOST A GOOD CLIENT!

There’s one of them that we did not have a good experience with. He came in for a half an hour and just left. They’re here assisting my mom to the bathroom, helping her get cleaned up, cleaning her linens, doing some laundry and housework, like cleaning dishes and stuff, and companionship.

Right at Home provides in-home caregiving services for thousands of families across the nation. We offer companionship and help with everyday tasks that have become challenging for an aging person. This may include things like meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping, hygiene and grooming. We also offer services for those with special care situations caused by numerous medical conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Call us to learn more about the specific services we provide.
Custom Care Plan
From the moment you call, we begin considering the specific needs of your loved one. We ask questions during the initial call or meeting to form a basic needs assessment. After discussing your particular situation, we will prepare an initial Custom Care Plan and then work with you to fine tune that Care Plan based on your loved one’s specific needs. Once the plan is agreed upon, your local Right at Home team matches the right caregiver to implement the plan.
Caregiver Training and Care Supervision
Every Right at Home caregiver goes through an extensive interview process, including background checks. Once hired, caregivers are trained through Right at Home University to ensure that they’re able to deliver the care set out in your loved one’s Custom Care Plan. Paying for Home Care in Manassas, VA
The Cost of Home Care in Manassas, VA
The Washington metro area includes Manassas and has an average home care cost of $5,339 per month, based on Genworth Financial’s 2021 Cost of Care Survey. This pricing is nearly $600 above the Virginia average and higher by almost $400 than the national median. Winchester is the most affordable nearby option, saving Manassas seniors about $700 monthly. State capital Richmond costs $200 less than Manassas, while Charlottesville in Central Virginia charges an average of nearly $1,000 more for home care. Baltimore in Maryland is similar to the national average.
The Cost of Home Care vs. Other Senior Care Options in Manassas, VA
Home care and home health care both cost $5,339 on average per month, but the latter option may cost more based on the actual health aide services to be provided. Assisted living is more expensive by about $600, but covers monthly room and board. Nursing home care is more than double the cost of home care due to the inclusion of 24-hour skilled health care support, while adult day health care costs less than half as much because of its limited weekday service hours outside the home, often at a community center.

Financial Assistance for Home Care in Manassas, VA
Given the high cost of in-home care, many people use one or more forms of financial assistance to cover the expenses. Below, we explain some of the most common sources of financial help for paying for in-home care. If none of these options are available to you, you can reach out to your Area Agency on Aging or Aging and Disability Resource Center to learn about local resources.
- Long-Term Care Insurance: Long-term care insurance covers expenses related to senior care, including in-home care. Depending on the policy type, beneficiaries may receive a cash payment to use towards long-term care or reimbursement for qualifying long-term care expenses. Note that there are limitations- typically a maximum benefit of $150 per day- and exact coverage terms vary depending on the exact policy, so always check the details.
- Medicare: Medicare does not cover in-home care because it is classified as custodial, or non-medical, care. However, some Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans, which offer expanded benefits, may cover in-home custodial care.
- Medicaid: Medicaid coverage of in-home care varies between different states because it is not a federally mandated benefit. Currently, all states cover some in-home care either through their standard Medicaid or a waiver program. The specific coverage rules are set individually by each state.
- Veterans’ Benefits: The Aid and Attendance benefit is a monthly cash payment that beneficiaries can use to pay for senior care, including in-home care services. To qualify for A&A, Veterans must already receive the VA pension and meet several additional requirements, including needing assistance with the activities of daily living. Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs to learn more.
- Reverse Mortgages: Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECMs) are federally insured loans that are available to homeowners age 62 and over. Reverse mortgages allow you to access a portion of your home’s equity in cash, tax free. Many seniors use reverse mortgages to finance their care expenses, including in-home care. Note that although there are no monthly payments due on reverse mortgage loans, borrowers do have to repay the loan once the last surviving homeowner passes away, moves, or sells the home.
Determining Your Loved One’s Need for In-Home Care
Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – often times it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.
Guidelines for Talking About In-Home Care
If you’ve determined that your loved one needs the assistance of a care provider in their home, it may be time for a difficult conversation. Handled correctly, however, this process can bring a family together and ensure that everyone’s concerns are addressed. Use this PDF as a starting point to help the conversation stay as positive and productive as possible.
