Nursing Home Communities in Frederick, MD

"It's a government facility so they take people who have Medicaid. What's timely about my friend's stay is that they will be moving to their brand new facility in 2 weeks. Also I like the fact that they take care of the patients and the facility does not have a smell when you walk along the hallway. I find the people there very nice to deal with. I think with the staff there, some are good and some are still learning. The head staff takes care of everything when there's a difficulty. My friend is not that wild about the food but I think it's been recently good. Apart from medical attention, he is also helped by being moved from his bed to his chair and back twice a day. I think that with Citizen's Care, if you pay more, you could probably get a lot more service but for what he can afford I think they've done a good job. "

" HI, as a frequent visitor of a Resident of Citizens Nursing Home in Frederick Md, the Care was outstanding, and each patient is treated with respect and dignity, however there are some persons who there is no pleasing, for example they think that others should be neglected for their loved one to be catered to right away always, with no though of fairness to the staff or other residents. who also needs care and attention constantly. If you couldn't handle your Loved one yourself be grateful that there are those who have this calling or vocation and try with all kindness to do their very best for all our elderly. "

"Homewood at Frederick was beautiful. The backdrop was the mountains. They have a bunch of different accommodations. If you want to be in a little house, they have that, and then they have two sets of apartments. One was connected with assisted living, so you could be independent in that particular apartment or you could be assisted. The other building was called The Lodge, which is independent living only, and that was beautiful, too. It was very, very clean, very new, and very modern. The lady that showed me the community was very informative and courteous. The apartment was a very good size compared to some of the other ones that we had toured. Even the smallest one was a very good size. It has all the nice appliances, such as solid surface countertops and luxury vinyl flooring. It was nicely set up. They also have a pool, a patio on each apartment, another big large patio that is right in front of the main area, an exercise room, a yoga room, art classes, and a whole list of activities. For more active residents, they do trips/cruises once a year."

"The staff is great, very helpful and attentive. The setting is very nice also. I would recommend this facility. My mother was here for about 2 months for hip rehab. I can't speak for long term care, however we were very pleased. "

"My Mom has been in this facility for over a year. This is the most wonderful place, clean , good food, loving caring staff. The house Doc is great as well. Mom has severe dementia following a stroke two years ago. She has been in two other facilites that were also quite good, but this one is the best. A bit pricey, but you cannot beat this place! Someone from the family visits every day and we are always welcome at any time. In my work, for a hospital in another state, I have visited at least 50 nursing homes ,and assisted living facilites and NONE of them hold a candle to Glade Valley. There is also a rehabilitation section and a regular elderly section, not just for dementia patients. "

"We were impressed by Buckingham's Choice. There were several buildings, and they had one-bedroom homes for people who were ambulatory. They had kind of a hotel large dining room. The staff were all very good and very attentive, and we were able to get everything that we asked for. We were very pleased. "

"This is the only place that I didn't like from all the places we've toured. It's far from where we live. It's not that I wound not recommend the place, but it's not the place what we needed for sister-in-law. The rooms were definitely big, but those are shared rooms and she was not interested in shared rooms. They look more like a hospital facility. The staff that toured us was very nice. She tried to help us out and gave us pointers. They just need to update a lot. "

"Fahrney-Keedy is by far superb in Homes in and around the Hagerstown MD area. The staff is top notch!! The home is wonderful for the residents. They have terrific facilities for all of their residents. The dining room and the whole home is just that a "home" atmosphere". We went and checked many before having our mother reside there and we were so pleased with Fahrney-Keedy and gave it 110 % rating. Where as no other facility came even close. Fahrney-Keedy was a breath of fresh air not only to us but to my mother. She could not stop smiling as we took her through the facility with a member of the staff. She sad this is where she wanted to be and we were in total agreement. We were not pleased with the other homes as the staff was not friendly and they did not seem to enjoy the residents. Fahrney Keedy and their staff make their residents feel that they are welcome the minute they enter the door!!! We were so pleased and my mother, well, she said she could just stay and we could bring her things later. The piano caught her eye as she played the piano. They told her she could play it any time she wanted to. We donated many jigsaw puzzles that mom enjoyed doing as she wanted to share with the residents. It was the fact that mom wanted to engage with the staff and other residents where as at the other homes we looked at she seem to withdraw the minute we entered them but not at Fahrney-Keedy. She blossomed here. She loved the food here and that is saying a lot as she is a very picky eater. She loved that they had a lot of activities and a variety of activities. We highly recommend Fahrney-Keedy to anyone who is looking for a wonderful "home" for their loved one!! "

"My husband was there for about a month. Everyone was so pleasant, the place was spotless, and the staff was very caring. I have to say compared to Levindale in Baltimore this nursing facility gets a 5 star. You can never expect to go into a nursing facility with elderly parents and not be critical, but my husband is just 60 and I was there once a day and witnessed the caring staff help him with showers, interact with occupational therapy, physical therapy, nurtritional needs, etc."

"I was just discharged from the facility yesterday. There was one employee that I have to say, went beyond every day, went the extra mile to make every person who walked through the door or was a resident or a staff member that they felt welcomed loved and respected employees were more like Tera the receptionist!"

"Everyone was very nice here. They showed us around and told us how to get to the other campus. Most days, they serve just two meals, but you can get a third one if you want. The staff was very informative. They talked about what they did, what the setup was, and where you could park your car. Some of the places had garages as well as a parking place and my wife was very interested in that because she was afraid the parking places might be farther away than she wanted to walk. They had an exercise area and a swimming pool with a lift."

"My sister is in rehab at Wilson Health Care Center. She's very comfortable where she is, but she has not been there very long. Her room is OK. She likes having people around her all day. The caregivers are OK, but my sister is difficult."
