"We went to Fairhaven. We really loved it, but it was $8,000 a month plus other expenses. It's lovely. It offers everything. We really wanted to be in that area because our grandchildren and our son lives in Eldersburg. Our daughter has a place in Ocean Pines, too, so we're trying to get to where it would be good for everybody. Fairhaven was topnotch. It was immaculate. The food was very good, too. The dining rooms were beautiful. They offered a lot of activities and stuff like that. They had a golfing range, and my husband loves golf. The woman that gave the tour was excellent. She knew everything, and she did her best to try to get us there, but we didn't have a whole lot of equity. Everybody was very friendly. We met some of the people there, and we toured the apartments and the cottages. They also have villas. The villas are for people who are 55 and over, because they're like big houses, and there's a lot to them. However, I don't want all that."

"My Dad was in Glade Valley for several weeks following a surgical procedure. I think experience depends on the staff involved in care. Amy the social worker was so helpful. Topper and Erin were great nurses and did anything they could to help and care for my dad. Several of the staff were integral in providing dignity and kindness. Food was ok to great. Facility could use remodel, but great overall."

"I stayed in Montgomery Village Health Care Center. The rooms were excellent, nice, and large. The equipment was good. They did a diet for me because I was diabetic, and it worked really well because I lost a lot weight while I was there. The physical therapy was excellent, and the occupational therapy was also very good with exceedingly helpful and understanding staff. They pushed me to improve my strength, but they did not make it so hard and discouraging.They had social recreations, but I did not participate in them very much because I did not need it. I thought the staff was excellent. "

"My Dad was a resident for roughly 10 years. Overall, the staff was great, kind and loving. Like with any nursing home we've experienced, as he had been at a few prior, there's some ups and down and occassionally a staff member that he didn't like so much. With that said, for a reasonably priced nursing home option, they were great overall and I would recommend them."

"It's close to home; that's why we picked Golden Livingcenter. So far, we're just very happy, and so is my mother-in-law. She said the food is delicious. I would recommend them because it's not overly populated, and the staff is courteous, friendly, and very attentive to the patients. "

"There's no Internet available at Carroll Lutheran Village, and that's a deal-breaker. Outside of that, I would have been satisfied. The apartments were nice-sized and were nice. I wouldn't have had to downsize or get rid of anything just because it wouldn't fit there. I could have chosen what furniture to take with me and wouldn't have had a problem going shopping. The grounds were pretty and very nice. They had different things for people to do there, and they had a pool. "

"My sister is in rehab at Wilson Health Care Center. She's very comfortable where she is, but she has not been there very long. Her room is OK. She likes having people around her all day. The caregivers are OK, but my sister is difficult."

"Ballenger Creek Center was great. My mother had a good time there and the staff was nice and they seemed pretty on it. She did OT and PT and she didn't really participate in anything else. It was clean and nice and the people were happy. The food she got was good."

"My dad is living in the assisted living section of Buckingham's Choice. I visit him him frequently. I have encountered staff that are caring, responsive, and VERY attentive to my dad's needs. I have lunch and dinner with him several days a week. The food is excellent. The building and grounds are well cared for. There are activities going on every day for those who want to keep busy. My dad especially likes the gym. All the amenities wouldn't matter at all if the care he received was sub-standard. That's not the case at all. The nurses and other staffers keep an eye on Dad. If he leaves his apt. Without his walker, someone will stop him in short order to get it for him. It seems like everyone knows him, and whether or not it's their responsibility, they will answer his questions, get him what he needs or just stop to chat with him. I feel so good knowing that he's in a caring and nurturing environment. Sandy T. "

"I visited this facility and think it was good. It certainly had a lot things available and it was neat. The only problem I had seen when I went there was the people who were immobile, were still in bed. Well, i mean it's not the facility or I might have gotten there early. It was just that I was thinking "oh it would be this nice place for my mother would be up and they'd get her out of bed". I've worked in a rehab facility and in a nursing home before, so maybe my expectations were up. But even though its no picnic and patients complain, they should be gotten up. I didn't like the fact that people are being in bed all the time or looking up at the wall and looking at the ceiling. Otherwise everything is neat and nice. The staff are really good people so I would still recommend this facility. "

"My Grandmother lived the last 3 years of her life in Homewood in the Alzheimers area. This is the greatest place i could have ever imagined placing her. Workers were unbelievable, so nice and caring and sweet. Entrance to building always seasonally decorated, with a church and library. Unlimited things to do. Alzheimers area even held 2 dogs that would live with the patients and were the sweetest things. Outdoor area was beautifully done with a pond and walkways and a large gazebo. So happy we found Homewood for my grandmother. Thank you Homewood! "

"I am very satisfied with Golden. They have changed management, and I have seen a big improvement in my husband. He had made friends, is not so anxious, and seems happy. They are working with him in therapy, and he's now walking. I'm hoping for good things there. The food is cold, and they're working on that. It was not appealing, but edible. Their staff is very good and honest, which is an important thing."
