We were very happy with Sunrise of Frederick and Mom was happy there, too. The place was very nice, located on a nice piece of property with lots of lovely trees around it and places to walk. They had activities and the people seemed to be very caring. We liked it very much. They need to pay more attention to serving fresh meals. They serve a lot of hotdogs and I think they should serve something healthier. They take their residents out sometimes for dinner or pizza or ice cream, and country rides. They have exercise classes, church services, bingo, puzzles, and painting.

We chose Sunrise of Frederick for my father because of its location and they claimed they would meet our needs. He is not there anymore. He stayed there for two and a half weeks before they nearly killed him. I did not like anything about them. They ignored my father. They did not give him his medication as directed, and they did not get him help when he came down with COVID until five days later when he was almost dead. What they need to improve is their honesty, dedication, and training of their staff. They had a dining area and it looked fine and the bedroom size was OK, but the place had a lot of dust.

I toured Sunrise of Frederick, and they were very welcoming. It was an older place, but very nice. It is a small high-rises and my father does not like high-rise, so we keep that as a last-minute option, but I don't see him going there. The staff there were very informative. The lady who is the marketing person and does all the tours was wonderful. She was wonderful. She gave me an overview of the entire place.

We toured Sunrise of Frederick. We were very impressed with the facilities, and the personnel. They seemed very enthusiastic about their job and very empathetic in their interactions with the residents. It doesn't have a lot of grounds, so that might be a little bit of a downside. It's a slightly older building, so they're showing age a little bit, but it is still very well-kept, clean, cheerful, and decorated well. They had a really cute little soda shop. Overall, it was nice. It was like the middle afternoon when we were there, so the residents were watching TV, some of them were taking part in a little craft project, and some of them were sitting and reading and stuff.

I toured Sunrise of Frederick. It was nice, and the atmosphere was good. The staff was good. The people were really friendly and the rooms were nice. They had just finished with the activities while I was there, so most of them were just sitting around watching TV.

We went to Sunrise of Frederick. However, my mom has been in home care for over four years and eight months, and she's running out of money. So with Sunrise, once she gets down to where she needs Medicaid, she would have to go somewhere else, and I didn't want to do that to her. It seemed very nice though. Their food was okay. They gave us a meal, and it was okay. The person who gave me the tour was very friendly though. The food was pretty good. We only had one meal. It was hamburgers and French fries and they were okay. When we went there, they had us eat in this little room that was like the 1950s, so that was neat, and I like that, too. It seemed very nice. They're very friendly people. We went up onto the floor and they were all saying hi and were very friendly. The people seemed happy. It was homier than the other place, but I just didn't like that you couldn't go from self-pay to Medicaid there. We only saw one room. It was rather small. One thing I didn't like is that you have to bring your own hospital bed. The staff said, 'We have one hospital bed here.' They showed us one room and it was very small. But how would they do that because she's going to be in a hospital bed, and it doesn't seem big enough? I didn't go into activities that too much since I know my mom can't participate, but I know they had music.

Sunrise of Frederick was very good. They offer services from basic senior care living (assisted living) up to memory care. We got to see all three floors and everything they offered. The staff seemed very attentive and very caring for everybody who was in the building. They showed us various options for rooms and they range from studios, all the way to a companion suite. There were a couple of different options and we liked the flexibility of it. The facility was very nice, very updated, and clean.

I was able to tour Sunrise of Frederick. You have to go through the assisted living to get to the memory care elevator. The assisted living was fine. It had a nice dining room, and they appeared fine. But I did not like the memory care unit at all. Residents were sitting in the hall. It's not their fault, it's the residents, their behavior, and how they were sitting. I did not like their dining room, too. They had a gardening club, a bingo club, and a book club, and they have music where they play songs for them.

I went to Sunrise of Frederick. It's a beautiful location with nice outdoors. There was a lot of space. It's near mountains and the inside felt very warm and comfortable. It's well taken care of. I saw their recreational gym area and their common area where they have group activities. I saw that they were doing some exercises. The staff was very friendly, nice, and attentive, and that was probably the best thing about that facility.

Sunrise of Frederick was a little bit dark inside. The lady was very nice, but I felt like she didn't make me want to be there. It's also a lot more expensive. The one-bedroom apartments I saw were not very big, but the dining area was very nice. They have restaurant dining. They have also movies and bingo. The place was clean. It just wasn't for me.

I went to Sunrise of Frederick. We thought it was great. I was very happy with it. It was a good experience. The person I met with was very nice, professional, and informative. I think it was laid out nicely. I liked that the memory care was on an upper secured floor. I guess the way the rooms and the common areas were laid out, I think they definitely put this insight into the way it was structured. It seemed very clean. Since it's Christmas time, they had activities as far as Christmas decorating. They take some of them out for bingo nights. They have movie nights. They have activity centers on each floor specified to like the level of care and the mental acuity of the patients. They were talking about different games and things that they do that vary. They have pianos for sing-alongs, and they have animals like cats for companion pets.

Sunrise of Frederick is a really nice fit for my father. When we first walked in, it was very warm and inviting. It was more like a house and a home than it was a facility. Everyone we've met there so far has been absolutely wonderful, and it is like a big family. They allow you to have pets. They have a couple of house cats, which my dad loves. They come in and sneak in his room to visit him every once in a while. He seems to really enjoy that. It is a very comfortable place. The residents always seem to be chatting in the hall and smiling. I enjoyed the entire energy I got from the place. They told us when we first moved him in that they would answer his call right in three minutes, and then if nobody got there in three minutes somebody would definitely be there in six, and he says they have not failed that promise once. As soon as you hit your call light, somebody comes in. They've already called a podiatrist to have his toenails clipped. When we first moved him in that first day, the nurse was in his room as we were unpacking his stuff, and basically gave him a physical check on his feet, his blood pressure, and listened to his heart. It was very thorough. It has been a wonderful experience. I have not tried the food, but he is a very particular eater, and he seems to really like it. They've actually gotten him eating three meals a day, where before at home he was drinking BOOST all day long and only eating one meal. He was actually eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner right now. They have all kinds of activities. They have a sign up sheet right in the lobby. They go to the mall to people watch, they take scenic drives, they have casino nights, and the day he moved in they had a big Thanksgiving dinner that they hosted, and all the families were invited. It seems to be just a really, really comfortable place. It is very homey. It is not at all like a facility. It's a little pricy, but it's honestly one of the cheaper ones that we found. It just seems more like a home than a facility. It's very warm and inviting. I'm truly grateful that we found it.

The tour I had with Sunrise of Frederick was wonderful. The place was clean and friendly, and Patrice did a great job of touring us. The staff seemed to have been there for at least more than two years, which is a good thing. The location is perfect for me since it's between my home and work. The apartments were also clean and neat. I looked at a shared one, so it's a little bit small, but it's very doable. They provide alert necklaces, assistance with showers to make sure the residents are safe, and meals included.

Sunrise of Frederick is equally as nice as the place we chose, but it's just farther from me personally. The director of admissions was wonderful and she was great during the tour. At the time they did not have a one-bedroom available, and we wanted our mom to have extra space, but they only had a studio available at the time. The environment of the community was very nice, it was very clean, and there were lots of people out and about. They had a beautiful dining room. It was like a restaurant where there's a menu and you can order what you want.

Sunrise of Frederick would be fine, but it was cramped compared to the other places we looked at. It's on two floors, and the space around the elevator felt very closed-in and cramped. The memory care unit had an unpleasant smell. The apartment layout seemed fine; the size would work well for a single person. It seemed to be a safe area. The common room wasn't particularly large. It didn't make much of an impression on us.

Sunrise of Frederick was fantastic. Everything smelled like pumpkins and popcorn and happiness. It was really nice and very sweet. The staff during the tour was outstanding. She has made follow-up phone calls. I would choose it for my mother. The two dining areas looked great. They had all kinds of activities going on like game nights and arts and crafts.

Upon entering Sunrise for our tour, we felt a great sense of care and compasion. My mother moved in shortly afterwards and we could not have been more pleased! The staff is attentive and caring and treated my mother like a family member. The facility is smaller than some and has a warm, cozy and familar feel. The residents are supportive and welcoming and my mother loved the variety of activities. She even liked the food and that says alot, since she's pariticular about how things are prepared. Although she didn't get to stay long, we all enjoyed the care and concern for her health and happiness while she was there.

Sunrise of Frederick had a very nice facility, but they were not able to take my father in with his condition. The rooms were all very nice. The staff was very pleasant and seemed very knowledgeable. They seemed to be well staffed. The residents all seemed very happy, and it seemed like they had plenty of activities to do. Their location was rather convenient.

my mother moved in and they assessed her for the 1st level care package. After 3 weeks we noticed she was frequently dirty and looking "unkept" when we brought it to their attention they charged us 1000.00 a month more saying basically it was not their fault she was dirty because her package included one shower a week and that is all she gets. If we pay the extra money they "promise" she will be clean. They have treated us awful since this and now it makes it difficult to go visit, They do not care about families and the patient matters as much as you are paying them to have them matter and no more, not even if their dignity is at stake. We are afraid it will confuse her more to move her so now we feel stuck and we will always know they really do not care.

I thought Sunrise of Frederick was best out of the places I visited. It was very organized. The staff was excellent. Someday I would not mind living there. The dining room was nice. The menu had a variety of different food for each meal. They had small area for day time snacks and things. We looked at a couple of different sizes of apartments. They were all clean. When I went in, it looked it was freshly painted. The rooms were great. They had walk-in showers for the elderly. It was perfect. The price was fair. It was not the cheapest, but it was not also the most expensive.

Sunrise of Frederick was very similar to the other Sunrises, meaning that the layout was the same, and the cleanliness was the same. It was equal to the other Sunrises that I walked into. Everybody was polite and kind when I came in. I was seen right away, and they were able to take me for my appointment on time. They were informative and seemed to know what they were talking about. The grounds were very clean. It wasn’t a large ground to walk around, and I was really just checking out the inside more than the outside. The rooms were actually a standard size. I looked at a one-bedroom with a kitchen and a one-bedroom studio, and they were the same size as the other Sunrises that I’ve gone and visited. They seemed a little older, decorative-wise, but nice.

I liked Sunrise of Frederick, but the drawback with it was there wasn't any parking. Secondly, the rooms sizes were different and at the Alzheimer’s level, which at that time was what we were looking at for my mother, just seemed so cramped. The staff seemed great, and I liked the facility, but parking was a big deal. There’s not even on-street parking available if you visit. There’s nothing even close by where you can park legally and walk there. There were only a few spaces out front and the back lot is shared with an apartment building, so when people are home, there’s just no place to park. I don’t know if there’s anything they can do about it.

I like the staff at Sunrise. I like that it’s bright, cheery, and positive. The staff was really nice. It’s also clean and smelled good. Even the food smelled good. They have a therapy dog, games, group activities, music, and field trips. The rooms were very nice, stayed true to what was advertised, and were reasonable in size. It was in a good neighborhood. The residents seemed to be happy. It’s kind of upscale and pleasant.

Changing living quarters is often a hard transition for seniors. It is one reason why I waited until my 94-year-old father-in-law lived at Sunrise for 6 months before writing a review. Here is my assessment: Location – Sunrise of Frederick is tucked away just off Rte. 15, which was convenient for me to drop in when I run errands. For out- of-town family and friends, the location makes it easier to find Sunrise. It is also near a couple of hotels, shopping and restaurants. Dining Services - Food service is excellent at Sunrise. Not only does the food taste good but it is prepared in healthy ways, which does not necessarily go hand in hand. Residents choose their meal from a menu, which changes daily. The menu contains appetizer, entrée and dessert choices. And if nothing looks appealing, the chef will make one of the old standbys such as grilled cheese, hot dogs, and eggs. A month before my father- in- law moved in, I asked 8 random residents what they thought of the food. I was shocked that not one of them complained. All raved about the meals as does my father-in-law. Activities – I saw online that one critic complained that some of them were kind of lame. Okay, obviously, this person is not yet 50 and does not have much senior experience. As we age, we get less and less interested in participating in strenuous activity much less watching others doing it. I found each activity on Sunrise’s calendar, no matter how simple, to show a great deal of thought in giving the residents a reason for moving, for learning new things, and for providing external stimulation. In addition, seniors are given opportunities to suggest activities and to volunteer. The Sunrise calendar is always booked with fun trips (wax museum, farms, orchards, zoo, fairs, restaurants and shopping to name a few). Cleanliness No matter when I pop into Sunrise, the communal areas are clean and my father in law’s quarters spotless. Staff So far I cannot say enough good things about the staff. They have been his brain when he can’t remember stuff, have taken care of his laundry and cleaned his room, have brought him his meds faithfully each day like clockwork. They have handled my father-in-law with kindness, respect, and patience, even on days when he might not be as cheery. For our family, Sunrise has provided dad with a safe and comfortable living space, a chance to make new friends, and activity options that far surpass what we could provide on a daily basis. Sunrise may not be for everyone, however, you should add this facility as a “must see” when you are checking out new homes for your loved one. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

The best community in Frederick after a long search. My mother has been at Sunrise of Frederick for years and loves it. She calls Sunrise home and is more than happy with the activities and food. Everyone greets my family by name and the feeling is so warm.

Our mother moved to Sunrise of Frederick in October 2014. We could not be happier with the caring environment. The staff is exceptionally supportive and interested in her: they treat her like an interesting adult that they want to know better. There are many cozy living spaces where my mother and her buddies can socialize. This adds to the feeling that Sunrise is their home. And my mother raves about the food.

They took me on a tour. Sunrise seemed like a clean place, nice, very helpful. We sat and discussed finances and general ideas most of the time. The rooms looked nice. Everything looked clean, orderly. I looked at a dual because both my parents are alive. I think it had a bathroom. The dining area looked nice. Most of the residents there seemed pleasant. They looked fine; I didn't see anybody slumped over. There are not much grounds there, but it's a nice neighborhood. I live a mile or two from it.

I like Sunrise of Frederick the best. The staff was helpful and caring. I like them a lot. I thought the rooms were very nice, although the ones I looked at were better for one person only. I did see the dining room, and I like the way they had it set up. There were a couple of little areas in there, and it just seemed a little more cozy than a big dining room.

We like Sunrise simply because it was very homey but it was high-end. It was like a fancy hotel. We met several residents there and they let us to their rooms. If our parents would go to an assisted living, we would take them to Sunrise. That would be our choice. They even have a "company dog" living there. It was a dark-colored Labrador, she was old, but she would greet everybody. It was just kind of a special touch.

Sunrise was nice. The staff was nice. They took a lot of time to show me some of the rooms. There were a lot of choices of rooms, which were bigger with shower and kitchen. They had a lot of activities. What I really liked about Sunrise was that they always had food and stuff that were readily available in their diner. You could always go down to get food and drinks in any hour of the day except for midnight. However, they were more costly.

Sunrise of Frederick is a good place. We really liked the place when we had a tour there. The rooms are very roomy. They had a facility where you could share a bathroom. It has a little kitchen wherein it has a small refrigerator, a microwave, cabinets, and a sink. The place seems very accommodating.
