My mom will be paying half of the price of what she’s paying now. They take Medicaid, too. Jessica was the one who toured us around and she was awesome. They have a lot of activities like outings and happy hour once a week where they have food and drinks if they want. Then they go to a lot of different places such as museums and shopping. They also bingo, cards, and puzzles together. It just seemed the right fit.

I went to Woodside Senior Living. I loved it. When I walked in they had a full entertainment on a Tuesday afternoon, which blew me away, and so I was pleasantly surprised and pleased. Then I was really shocked at how large and how expansive the facility is. They have quite a few amenities and services, so I was very pleased with that. I think that would be good for my mom. It was well-lit and spacious, which is a big thing. It’s a great atmosphere. Everybody was smiling and enjoying themselves, so that was good to see. The staff was first rate. I looked to see how the residents are interacting with the staff, and they seemed to really enjoy themselves. The dining area was huge. They also had several lobbies, cubbyholes, and places to eat. The staff members were very helpful. They sat down with me, explained to me everything, and told me all my options. I was very impressed.

I recently visited a friend of our family at your Assisted Living and wish to report that my visit was so much more than I expected it to be. I was greeted at the front entrance, the ambiance and smell were inviting, the building was elegant and clean, staff were friendly and seemed to really take ownership in their responsibilities. My friend Mark is content and even takes on a daily role of delivering the mail newspapers to all of the people there. I was invited to join him for lunch and even join into the Men’s Group that was wrapping up as I arrived. When home is no longer a safe option, it’s nice to see that there are great local accommodations to help carry on and enrich the lives of our seniors. Thank You for a pleasant experience.

My tour of Vista Veranda went very well. I like it very much. My mom and I both felt that the staff were very attentive, very kind and very friendly, and willing to explain everything very thoroughly. I thought the rooms were beautiful. We saw what they referred to as a large room and a smaller room. There are big open spaces and bathrooms with walk-in showers. I appreciated all the bars that were located in the bathroom or even walking down the hallway. My mom uses a cane so she could use her left hand to hold on to the bar and use her cane on her right hand.
They have a beautiful dining area. The menu is posted on the board. It was explained to my mom how she would fill out what she wants for her meal the next day. They offer choices as well. The grounds are very nice. They have a nice patio on the back where the residents and family members can sit when the weather is nice. They have rockers on the front porch. That does, unfortunately, face the parking lot, but at least there are chairs out there where they can sit.
Some resident were individually reading up and playing cards, and then they also had bingo when we were there. We met the activities director. They have a calendar of events. Each month they have one family night, and the family night this month is watching an Elvis movie and having popcorn. They have a physical therapy room, and they have a physical therapist on staff. They have a salon and a pantry, too.

My sister has moved into Light of Hearts Villa. It’s a faith-based community. It was formed by the Sisters of Charity, which appealed to my sister. They’re into Bible study and their whole attitude is not all about money, so that appealed to us very much. Right now, we’re trying out assisted living because she fluctuates between doing good and then not really realizing what day it is or whatever, like her recall of facts, numbers, and things. They feel that they would like to start her there and see how it goes, and if need be, they could always move her over to memory care. Right now, they’re evaluating her situation.
I haven’t tried their meals. I have to give them a heads up when I’m coming for either lunch or dinner, so you have to put a request in. But my sister is very happy with their food because she’s there for every meal three times a day and no complaints, and she is a food fussy. Her room is like a suite. There’s an entranceway, a pantry so she can store things, a private bath for the shower, and there’s room for her queen-sized bed, a nightstand, a recliner, two dressers, and a rocking chair. It’s quite roomy.
They play Jeopardy and they play bingo. Yesterday, a husband and a wife came and sang and played instruments and so forth. I think it was like songs from the 1940s and 1950s, which they all enjoyed. My sister is doing much better walking so that she can get around with her walker. She can go visit some of her friends. They’re not all in the same area, but they can go by elevator up or down. She’s doing much better mingling with people.
