"We made arrangements to move into the Vitalia Senior Residences of Solon. We wanted a two-bedroom, and they don't have any available yet, but we gave them the deposit, now I'm in the queue. It's relatively new. We've eaten there a couple of times and the food was terrific. Everybody that we've encountered has just been amazingly friendly from the staff to the residents. It seems that there are a lot of programs that will be available to us when we're there. The facility is very well kept. It's very close to where we live, so we're not going to be going far from the things we're familiar with. Shaq was terrific. They have a full kitchen. They have a courtyard there."

"Right now my dad is at Solon Pointe because that is where they can accept Medicaid waiver for him because he is not able to self-pay. He is up on the second floor in the memory care and they want to see if they can try to transition him to the downstairs area and eventually get him over to his own studio in the assisted living. He has been there since April 3rd and he is not happy because he says the place is too clinical. The facility needs a little updating, but I am sure the Alzheimer’s patients don’t really care. The nursing staff is very good and treating him well. The two nurses who we talked to said that they wouldn’t mind having him back. If a family member couldn’t ride with him to appointments, that they will transport him there with someone and bring him back. Their assisted living side looks good and they’ve have a lot of activities going on. Their dining room and little library area look nice, and their assisted living side looks really nice."

"Woodside Village is nice. The neighbors were nice; one lady befriended my grandma, and I thought that was very nice. She is in a private room, and it is good. It has a kitchen, a good size living room, and a bedroom, and it has a little patio which is nice. I tried a little bit of the food, and it has good quality. The dining room is of a nice size, and it is clean. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a place quick and a place that can fit a good budget. My grandmother is happy and satisfied. "

"Alpine House of Maple Heights had a room that had been staged. I didn't see the actual living quarters of the people who were there. We just saw a staged room and the different parts of the facility. It was clean. They seemed to be very organized with what they would do for my relative and how it would get done. I saw the eating area and the different sitting rooms that they had for reading. They had an area there where they could go and watch movies, a game room, a medical room where the doctor and the nurse were supposed to be, and an exercise room for those that need therapy or different things like that. I thought that was good. The facility was clean and nice. The areas were set up well. They showed us different places, the furnishings, and things like that. As for the individual room that my relative would be getting, we were told to bring furniture in because the room would come without anything in it. The only thing it would have would be a microwave and a refrigerator, and anything else you wanted to have would have to be supplied. I only saw one staff and that was Sean. He was very nice and very helpful. He answered the questions that we asked. He was very helpful to us with the information that he gave."

"We looked at Hudson Grande Senior Living. They have little pods where people can gather and a dining room. The overall feel is clean and modern, and people seem happy. They go on trips, they do bingo, and movies and they have a hair salon and fitness center. The staff that I met were incredibly friendly."

"The administrators were nice. The rooms seemed a little cramped. It does not have a kitchenette area. The closets were small. It seemed to be a bit more dated as far as dining area. They had a little coffee area where a lot of people gathered there to have coffee or tea. The people there seemed happy. "

"We looked at a number of facilities when considering a new home for Mom. The first thing that struck us about Independence Village was how staff immediately began calling Mom by her her first name and introduced other staff to her so they could use her name, too. And that was before we even signed on! The apartments are more than adequate. The staff are helpful and responsive to requests. In addition, they are amazingly gracious in the face of residents' criticism or complaints. At least in Mom's case, she was the one who forgot or didn't understand, yet, the staff kindly listened and worked to resolve the issue. In our case, Mom was willing to move. Even so, the first weeks we wondered if she would manage to adjust. It didn't seem to be working. The director encouraged us saying that it often takes 4-6 weeks for a new resident to settle in. Sure enough, Mom passed through that initial unsettled-ness and is a very happy camper now. I could go on! One more winning point. One day I picked Mom up early for a doctor's appointment. Staff noticed that she didn't come out for the continental breakfast which was her normal routine. They didn't see her at exercise class which she usually attends. And, late morning, the receptionist called Mom to see if she was OK! Wow! That really made my husband and I feel like Mom is in a place where people genuinely care about each resident and try to keep an eye out for each one. We heartily recommend Independence Village."

"The rooms were of good size. I liked the size of the rooms, although my sister's in a two-bedroom, so she would prefer that, I'm sure. The rooms I saw were pretty much empty, so it's kind of hard to see what they'd be like when they're full of items, but they were very pleasant and roomy, and I liked them all. I know I didn't see anything I didn't like. The staff was very nice, very friendly, had a lot of information, and answered all my questions. They spent a lot of time talking to me. It went well. They showed me the dining area, and they gave me a treat. It was landscaped very nicely, and everything was very clean inside."

"We toured The Inn at Apple Ridge. They showed us the whole thing. We started in the assisted living and then we walked into the memory care area to see that whole section. It was all very nice. It was beautiful. When you walk in, the dining room is right there and the chapel is beautiful. They have a bar and it's just so clean. It's like you're in a five-star hotel. It was just unbelievable, but I felt it was too big of a facility for my aunt, that's why we didn't go with them. The staff was very informative, very friendly, answered all of our questions, and very knowledgeable. Their garden area was beautiful and they had a kitchen area. Everything was immaculate."

"We like our tour of Vista Springs Ravinia Estate. It looks very new, it was very clean, and the rooms were very nice. The amenities were good, and they have an outdoor space in front of the building, there's a courtyard, and it was woodsy around. It was in a nice area. They also offered for us to come and try the food. The problem there is that we were there twice, and both times we hardly saw anybody. Also, my dad kept telling me that he doesn't see anybody. They showed us their movie or cinema rooms but there were never any residents in there. The staff was very nice."

"My wife has been a resident of Danbury Broadview Heights for about two years now. It's been a very, very good experience. She's very well taken care of and they're very, very good at what they do. She has a single room, and it's in the memory care division. It's very clean, very neat, and well taken care of. They have fishing, coloring, painting, and exercise. There is a courtyard and there are also sidewalks all around the building that they can walk on. The food is great here."
