"We went to Vitalia Mentor for a tour. It is beautiful. However, we are the first generation of not being blue collar. We are kind of in the middle of the middle class, and the Vitalia Mentor was a little bit snooty. It just felt like you didn't want to touch anything. It was set up beautifully. They emphasized that they had food available all the time. But, it didn't feel like my mom, who grew up on a farm, was going to fit in there. Nevertheless, I could see friends of mine bringing their parents to live there in a heartbeat. It's very nice. It is just not suitable for Mom. The building is only three years old, but it is not homey. The lady who did the tour was very friendly and very nice. She listened to Mom really well. We only saw one apartment because I don't think there were any empty units. There is also no place to sit outside there for the residents. The amenities were the same. They had a big theater set up to watch movies, which was nice. A laundry room is available, like the other place. They have a small gym. The staff didn't really say too much about the activities, which is one of the main reasons we want to move my mom where she is around other people. However, there were more people in the hallways and residents to say hello to or that kind of thing at Vitalia Mentor than there were at the other place. They have a whole kitchen thing available with all kinds of food, and it's like being at home. The room was considerably smaller than the other place, and maybe that was because somebody was living there; it wasn't just staged, and so therefore he had more stuff in there, so that could be. It turns out that they were also out of our price range. The staff member who gave the tour was pretty tuned in; she did a good job."

"I looked at The Villas at King David. It was a beautiful facility. They had very nice spacious suites. I liked everything about it; it was just too far away from family for me. But they have beautiful rooms. They supply refrigerators and microwaves. They have a laundry service, and they have a barber there. They have everything you need. The staff who gave the tour was very friendly and very nice. She explained everything well. With the questions I asked, she was very patient with me. She did a good job showing me everything. I even sat down and ate lunch with her, and the food was good. The building itself was very nice and very clean."

"I was actually so pleasantly surprised when I came in to tour "DCL" I did not know the campus was this BIG and this NICE. I am coming back with my dad to see the place I think he will like it as much as me."

"Vitalia Senior Residences of Solon is a brand new place. It had plenty of activities for the seniors to partake in. They had a swimming pool, chair yoga, chair volleyball, and other things. They also had fitness classes, games, a library, and a movie room with discussions going on. It seemed like a very nice place. The apartments were pretty nice. They had studio apartments as well as one and two-bedroom apartments. You have to bring your furniture. The lady that was giving the tour was very knowledgeable and very friendly. She engaged in conversation with my wife's cousin and got to know all about her and everything. There were a couple of residents who came up and said hi, too. We saw the menu and it seemed like there was good food in the cafeteria."

"Vitalia Highland Heights is a brand-new facility. They just opened. I was very impressed with the independent living quarters that they offered. There were two spaces available. There are two bedrooms with a nice large living area and a kitchen that has everything. I know that if I wanted to, I could cook and bake there. There's a seating area in the kitchen. You don't have to have a dining room table, but it's big enough that you could have people sit down there on both sides. You could probably get maybe 4 or 5 people sitting in this area. They have beautiful two bathrooms that are bigger than what I'm living in right now. They have a washer and dryer, which is very important to me. The price is OK. I think they want $4005 or somewhere around there, maybe close to $5000 a month. They offer a lot of bus trips and typical things. They have a pool. They have everything. They have invited me twice now to come for lunch and their food is excellent. If you have a car, they have a covered parking area and that's $75 a month. That's high, and all it does is that there's a parking area where everybody parked right next to each other. You just have a roof over the outdoors. It's not an enclosed garage."

"My cousin moved to Maple Ridge Senior Living's memory care unit. We've been finding that the nurse aides and the facility are very accommodating. They've been really good about a lot of things, too. The upkeep is very good, although sometimes we go in there, and my cousin's room is a little bit messy, and we'd like it to be cleaned up, but it's not terrible. She's just not capable of doing much cleaning. Other than that, she likes the food there. I also like the place because it's a one-floor facility, so you just walk into the unit and you don't have to go up an elevator or anything like that. It's nice and very quaint there. They have a public room that has a lot of bookshelves and things like that, so that's maybe their library. We celebrated my cousin's birthday there in a nice room where we ordered pizza. They had a nice accommodation with that. Their staff members are really good. They are friendly girls, and I like them. They're always pleasant anytime you ask them for something. They're also very accommodating. They have some art classes that they're doing. They also celebrate when someone has a birthday. We threw our own party for my cousin, but they celebrated a birthday for her as well. I haven't tried their food, but I asked my cousin, and she likes it. I would say that the value for money is really pretty good. They do her laundry twice a week, and they'll straighten out her room probably twice a week, too. Maybe that's why we've seen a little bit of disarray at times. Other than that, it has a nice homey atmosphere. We put pictures on the wall, and they were okay with all that. It's a nice little room. Not huge but nice."

"I toured the Richmond Heights Place. The rooms were nice. They were really, really gorgeous, and I enjoyed them. I enjoyed going there. It was a good tour. They have different cottages, and it's like a little neighborhood. What we saw was nice common areas, and it looked like they have some outside garden activities. They have access to the outside and that kind of thing. It was very nice. They took us to a couple of different suites, and they were nicely carpeted. It seemed like they had decent amenities. Even though they were studios, they were pretty spacious, so I liked that part. I really couldn't find anything major wrong with them, but my only issue is that I didn't get a chance to talk to the staff. I always like to see how the staff interacts with the residents, and that was the only drawback."

"Right now my dad is at Solon Pointe because that is where they can accept Medicaid waiver for him because he is not able to self-pay. He is up on the second floor in the memory care and they want to see if they can try to transition him to the downstairs area and eventually get him over to his own studio in the assisted living. He has been there since April 3rd and he is not happy because he says the place is too clinical. The facility needs a little updating, but I am sure the Alzheimer’s patients don’t really care. The nursing staff is very good and treating him well. The two nurses who we talked to said that they wouldn’t mind having him back. If a family member couldn’t ride with him to appointments, that they will transport him there with someone and bring him back. Their assisted living side looks good and they’ve have a lot of activities going on. Their dining room and little library area look nice, and their assisted living side looks really nice."

"Rose Senior Living Beachwood has more social things, but they're very expensive. They're over $5050 to $6000 a month. Two meals are included. They've got the pool, a courtyard, and bus trips. They've got activities, a beauty shop, and everything. They're very, very professional. They've invited me for lunches and get-togethers with groups of people who are thinking of getting into the facility. The building was nice."

"The Waterford at Richmond Heights is a very nice and beautiful place. The staff all seemed to be very pleasant. The young woman who took care of me was a very nice and helpful woman who really went out her way. The grounds were very nice and clean. The eating area was very nice, kind of like a restaurant with tablecloths. They're just very good. The food smells good. The dining area was beautiful. They went out of their way to take care of their folks and had a very nice menu. My sister-in-law said it was good. "
