The layout and the rooms at Maplewood at Chardon were really beautiful. The staff was very friendly. On the visit they gave us chocolate chip cookies that they made in a box for us, which was really sweet. They were good. I just talked to the lady that was in charge of the sales and who showed me the room, and she was very pleasant. The rooms were really, really nice. On the outside, you can walk out of your door and you're right outside, and there's like a little patio. Then inside is the same thing, there's a patio for your room and you could put a little table there. It was a nice size, too.

All I can say is amazing. When I first entered the facility the place seemed extremely clean and I was promptly greet with a hello and smile. It was lunchtime when I arrived so I met my friend in the dinner area. The overall appearance of the meal looked delicious and hot. Throughout the lunch I was greeted again by many staff members. The most important part is the excellent care that is provided to my life long friend.

My Dad and My Mother-in-Law were both residents over the past 5 years. We had moved them both from an assisted living facility that was simply horrible in every way. At Maplewood, we experienced the best care and a completely wonderful experience. The daily activities, the facility cleanliness, the caring staff and the cooperation in the management, working with us at every level of care, compassion and communication. We could not be more pleased with Maplewood, in Chardon

From our first contact with Maplewood, every aspect of our experience has been wonderful. It takes a village and I have had interactions with people from many departments at Maplewood including administration, nursing, maintenance, housekeeping, activities and of course the fantastic aides who truly care about their residents. Everyone greets you with a smile and positive energy. I am amazed at how quickly our questions have been addressed. Moving an aging parent into a new environment can be uncertain, but the staff at Maplewood has gone above and beyond to make sure that my mom has everything she needs for a successful transition to her new environment. The food is very nutritious and plentiful. I am pleasantly surprised by the amount of choice available at each meal. The menu is extremely varied so there is something for every taste. There are always snacks available, which may include freshly baked cookies! Mom has a beautiful mini-suite in the Tides community. It is a perfect placement for her as she has begun to exhibit signs of dementia but is still able to manage much of her care on her own. The activities for this community are not only fun, but also include scientifically-based brain games. There are enough activities throughout the Maplewood community to keep the residents going all day and into the early evening. They have a nice mix of lectures, faith-based services, musical performers, games, social hours, outings and even have VR so the residents can take a trip without leaving home! The activity directors have gone out of their way to help my mom engage in activities that she enjoys. We are so happy we made the move to Maplewood. I am 100% confident that mom is receiving the best care.

The facility is beautiful inside and out. All of the employees are wonderful to work with. We never have to worry about our grandmother, we know she is well taken care of and love by everybody at Maplewood. There are tons of various activities for the residents and events for friends and families to attend throughout the year. The experience has been above and beyond what we could have ever wished for our family.

I have been attending the caregiver support groups and Dementia bootcamp for almost a year. Jen and Cheryl have provided such valuable information on a topic I knew nothing about. They are compassionate in their work and helping me to understand what my husband is dealing with. They include the participants in the discussion and let us say what is happening in our journey and give us helpful suggestions or encouragement. This is a valuable program to offer and I am glad to be a part of it. Thank you. I love walking down the hallway and seeing how each "porch" is decorated with personal touches.

This facility is more than a 5 star facility. If the aesthetics aren't enough, the staff is outstanding. You feel as though you are the only one they have to serve. The residents were all happy, smiling and it was obvious they were well cared for. I had an opportunity to view the meal presentation and it was amazing! I would strongly recommend this facility for your loved one.

When you enter Maplewood’s beautiful building, you enter into a home. A home full of family. Not just a family of community residents, but a family of staff. I have never seen such love, loyalty, and lending hands as I do in all the staff of Maplewood. They are not just mere “friends” of everyone…but “family” of everyone. The beautiful homes with front (and outside back) porches, mini kitchens (although, why you would want/need this is beyond me…I eat there every Monday with my Mom and Dad in the restaurant…yes…restaurant with delicious selections.) On Monday evenings I also join in on the BINGO fun. They have numerous activities and are always adding more. Most of the time it is difficult for my siblings and I to contact Mom and Dad as they are never in their home, but out and about either on various field trips, Wednesday night “Out with the Gang” restaurant trips, or extremely busy with all the various activities offered. All in all, my brother, sisters and I all agree on one thing: Mom [91] and Dad [94] wouldn’t have made it that long if they were still living on their own. Their health and outlook on life have improved 110% since they moved there. As there is typically a waiting list to get into Maplewood, I would suggest if you are even “thinking” about it…get on that list!

My parents live at Maplewood Chardon. I knew when we visited it was the right place. It is well cared for, thoughtfully designed, warm, and inviting. A friend whose mom lived at Maplewood recommended it to me several times. At first, I did not consider it because it is outside the immediate radius of our home; I thought Mom and Dad needed to be closer to my home and work. After comparing Maplewood to other facilities, the thirty minute drive was no longer a factor. The benefits of Maplewood have far outweighed the convenience of a shorter drive. When I need to reach out to a staff member, they are always responsive. If they don't know the answer, they always connect me with the staff member who does. Knowing Mom and Dad are safe at Maplewood gives me peace of mind.

It is rare to find an assisted living facility that truly delivers what they promise regarding a respectful, person-centered philosophy of care. From the first moment I stepped into Maplewood at Chardon I was hopeful that I had found the perfect match for my friend who could no longer remain in her large home alone. She was unable to join me in touring facilities and trusted me completely to choose the best setting for her. She has not been disappointed! She loves living at Maplewood. Without exception every staff member that she has interacted with has been smiling, kind, and helpful. She quickly made friends with other residents by participating in an extensive number of meaningful and fun activities. This has made her transition from her beloved home so much smoother than I had imagined. From the remarkable staff to the beautiful individualized suites, the delicious meals served restaurant style, the interesting events and spontaneous activity gatherings around the fireplace, Maplewood at Chardon delivers a refreshingly vibrant environment of life and purpose for the seniors who live there and their families. I think I would enjoy living there myself!

Maplewood at Chardon has been wonderful for my 98-year-old mother! Last year the burdens of living in her own home became too much for her, but she was very hesitant to give up her home of forty years. Maplewood did everything it could to welcome her to a new home, where she could live her way, but get assistance when needed. The staff is extremely friendly and caring, and they try to accommodate her preferences whenever they can. As a result of the new, comfortable living situation, my mom's outlook on life has blossomed and she seems more energetic. Maplewood is also very good to its extended "family" - the families of the residents. They communicate frequently about events at the residence and specifics about my Mom's health and well-being. There seems to be a very low turnover rate of staff, which is another plus. Very highly recommended!

My tour at Maplewood at Chardon was very good. My only problem is that we were interested in a two-bedroom apartment and all they had was a one-bedroom. It was very nice, the whole facility was nice, I just don't know if we could work with that room for what we have. The person who gave me the tour was very pleasant. She introduced us to some residents there, and they were giving us some very good comments. The dining area looks very nice. They have white tablecloths and white China dishes and it looks very nice. They had a lot of activities. They had movies, games, crafts, and that type of thing, and it all looked very interesting.

My mother is in Maplewood at Chardon assisted living. They've got very friendly staff, and it's gorgeous on the inside. You walk in there and see a big open air room with a huge fireplace. It's a very comforting feeling, and you walk on each aisleway that has rooms off of that. They've got pergola wood over each one of the entranceways to the rooms. It's such a very homey feeling like you're walking into some kind of a paradise. It's just gorgeous there. My mother says the meals are absolutely phenomenal, and she is a big stickler on good food. She has an outside entrance through her room. A lot of times, I just go up to her outside door. She'd let me in there. I didn't realize that there's alarm on her door that rings the front desk. They'd come in there and they'd say, "Hey, you're not supposed to be doing that, you're supposed to get your temperature taken and you're supposed to fill out the forms and all that stuff." I had to quit doing that now, but they're very nice and friendly about telling you that you goofed up. She said the food is excellent, and there are lots of good activities. You get what you pay for and it seemed very reasonable.

My sister is a resident of Maplewood at Chardon. It's a beautiful home that's setup differently, and it has porches for each apartment. You can dress them up, sit out there and watch people go by. The people there are extremely nice, they have really nice dining facilities, and lots of things to do. They played bingo, the care is very good, and the food is very good. The staff is very good, and they answer all your questions. If you have a problem you can call them and they'll take care of it. It's very clean, pretty, very nice, and there's a beautiful courtyard, waterfall, and trails. There's an exercise room, a library with nice books, and the local library comes out on occasion to pick out books. They have a beautiful place to sit and read. The staff is very nice, very friendly, caring, the nurses are very nice, and they're always going in and checking on her. You always see people walking around saying hello and asking how you're doing. It's all one floor and very easy to get around.

My mother-in-law is doing OK in Maplewood at Chardon, although she has a lot of challenges due to her age. They have a lot of activities for the residents, and the staff seems to be taking good care of her. What stood out to me about the place was that it's bright and cheerful, and they get the residents involved. They serve three meals a day, and they have a beauty parlor which you pay extra for, they arrange for a physical therapist to come in, they have church services, and they have bingo sessions. The residents get little tickets, and they can go to the gift shop to redeem stuff. The staff has been very helpful.

My mom was in the Memory Care Unit at Maplewood for five months after having been at another nursing facility for three years. What a difference in the care she received! Maplewood embraced her the moment she walked through the door until the end of her life. They encouraged her to participate in activities, taking her on the bus to the Cleveland Aquarium, the Nautica Queen, the County fair, Deer Park and other places. She went from sitting in her room (at the other facility) to fully participating in life. She began smiling and eating once again. She was well-taken care of, both physically and mentally, and the staff at Maplewood treated her with kindness and respect. No facility can provide the same amount/type of care a family can, but Maplewood comes close.

Maplewood at Chardon is where I have my mother right now. It’s wonderful, and that is why she’s there. It’s clean, they are very attentive, and the Executive Director attends to everything. It’s a great place. They’re starting new things where they are going to have iPads, and they can all do music as well. They try to do everything they can possible. I don’t think I would want to go anywhere else right now. I’ve been very happy there. It’s cheaper, and they don’t have all the extra costs of things added on.

My sister is looking forward to going to Maplewood at Chardon. The visit was very nice. Everybody there is very pleasant and very friendly. It’s a very nice clean place. It’s very good for my sister in that they all have front porches and it’s very much like a community. They have backdoor that goes outside and a little patio there for the people to sit outside. It is very, very nice. They have assisted living and an in-between if you have a little bit of dementia that you need some help with. They have a different section for that. And then they have an area if you have a dementia or Alzheimer’s and needing lots and lots of help. So if you need help, you automatically don’t have to go into a locked unit.

Maplewood at Chardon is a nice place with a very warm atmosphere. They have a nice fireplace going, and everybody seems very happy. It is very pretty. Outside each room is what looks like a front porch, and everybody has decorations displayed there. My brother-in-law seems very happy.

My mom lived in Maplewood for two and a half years. The facility itself was very nice, and the room size was good. They try to be accommodating, and they respond to criticism well and change what they can. We have to make them aware of things to stay on though, and we had serious problems with food.
