Nursing Home Communities in Aurora, OH

"We're on the waiting list at Anna Maria. It is an older facility that they re-did, and they are doing a brand new additional opening up this summer. The staff was wonderful. They had a full nursing staff, a doctor on call, and all kinds of amenities. They had three meals a day. We haven't eaten there, but we went to the dining room and looked at the menu. The menu was something we could go along with, and if you weren't happy, they would change it to whatever you ordered. They had a workout room and a van to take you to doctor's appointments. "

"Legacy Place - Twinsburg was really nice. First thing I noticed was that it smelled good. It was sparkling clean, and that impressed me. The bathrooms were clean. The staff was very friendly, and very courteous. I went to breakfast, Bingo, lunch, and Bingo. The dining area was nice, and clean. They did everything in a sanitary way. "

"My husband is currently in Heartland of Twinsburg. He had been there before, and they have a handful of nurses and aides that are fantastic, but the rest of them just sit around and do nothing. It is like any nursing home nowadays; they are so understaffed that the staff that they do have for the most part don’t really care. This time, he is basically there on ‘respite’ type scenario. He is bedridden and a very difficult patient because he doesn’t want to take his meds, he doesn’t want to do this, and he doesn’t want to do that. I am sure they did what they could at this point, and there were a couple of nurses on that floor that were fantastic in trying to get him to take his meds. So there isn’t a whole lot for them to do at this point. They need more qualified aides. They probably have 1 aide for 15 rooms or something like that. It is just understaffed and under qualified."

"I went to Grande Village Suites. I think it's very nice. And, they have good service. She's only been there about a week exactly. But it seems like it's real close to where we live at, so we really like that. And I was able to take her out easily last night to get something to eat at the restaurant that she loves. I think that they try physiotherapy and activities with the residents. So, it's a pretty good facility overall. My mom doesn't really participate in them, but I saw on the wall about that. They have bingo. And they do have like communion for the Catholic residents like she is, for church on Sundays."

"My husband is in the Maple Wood Care Center and he's been there for quite some time now. The staff is very friendly, caring, and efficient, and I'm pretty much satisfied as far as the care he's getting. "

"My Father truly enjoyed his stay in the Rehab area. The staff was friendly and the care was terrific! He was able to return home thanks to the great therapy department! "

"Please note: this is only a review for the rehab/skilled nursing section of Eliza at Chagrin; our family did not have experience with assisted living or memory care, and those may be quite different. My 90 yr. old mother-in-law was in rehab there for three weeks, until Medicare stopped covering. The landscaped grounds are quite lovely - I saw wild turkeys roaming - while the rooms are fairly plain and the furniture slightly worn. The facility is clean and looks to have a nice library area, dining room and patio. Staff seemed stretched, and staff social worker was surprised when I mentioned my mother-in-law hadn't had a family care meeting which they said was to be scheduled within a week of admission. It was finally held 2 1/2 weeks later, and was essentially a discharge meeting. My MIL got PT and OT 5 days a week, and sometimes even on the weekend, which was very helpful for her. The biggest disappointment was that my MIL was not given a bed bath or any such basic hygiene for three whole weeks, likely due to staffing issues. After pressing them, they finally gave her one the day of discharge, and told her, "now you can tell your family you had a bath"."

"Rooms okay, food cold and terrible Staff overall unresponsive to my needs. There are some good people. Very poor internet access. Things missing from MY room. They act like it’s theirs. Come and go with no knocking. Room floors dirty. Waste basket not emptied often enough. I’ve been here over a week and still none shower."

"This is an elaborate and high-quality retirement community. Residents with a high degree of independence live in their own apartments, are able to cook their own meals with groceries delivered to them, and are provided with opportunities to socialize and be entertained most nights of the week. Such entertainment includes concerts, board game nights, card game nights, book club nights, and other such activities. For those residents with slightly less independence, rooms within the central complex are available. Residents in these conditions are supervised and engaged all hours of the day. There are three professional kitchens that serve food to the less independent residents. However, the residents who live in their own apartments are also certain entitled to the food from these kitchens. The food is high-quality, healthy, there is plenty of variety, and most importantly it is tasty! The rooms, halls, and kitchens are kept spotless and sanitary. All in all, a very high quality community. "

"Everything about Hudson Elms was great. I just didn't see much staff and I was expecting to see more people. I don't know if that's their usual, but it seemed like the residents were still well taken care of. The rooms that I saw were average size, but people just had a lot of stuff in them, so they looked smaller, but they seemed OK. We went into the dining area. I think the one at the other facility is a little nicer, but I like that you can see the outside areas from there. There's lots of good lighting, so that's nice. It feels like you're almost eating outside. They had a really good recreation person. They had a group come in and sing. I guess it was a choir or a group of ministers coming and singing to the residents and they gave them gifts and things like toiletries and things like that. So, that was really nice."

"Having had family in many Facilities mom has been resident for over a year Excellent facility First thing u notice when you first walk in How clean it is All the nurses treat Mom Great . They take very tuff job and do it well. Special Recognition need to be said about Drector Of Nursing Takes time out of busy day and tries to help Everyone Special Person."

"My experience with Walton Manor stems not only from my grandmother being a current resident, but also from my time as a volunteer ten years ago. The grounds and building itself are well kept and beautiful. I like the fact that they also offer both private and shared rooms, and the nearest full service hospital is less than 3 miles away. Their in-house medical equipment is up to date, and they are always replacing existing equipment with the latest state of the art models. The staff is always very courteous and helpful whenever I visit, and their detailed stories and updates on my grandmother make me confident she is getting the individual attention she needs. They are also great about calling my family with weekly updates even when there are no major concerns. The event staff is great about scheduling many daily activities to entertain and fit the needs of all residents. It is comforting to see that our money goes not only toward my grandmother's basic needs such as medical attention, room, and nutritional needs, but fun activities and special guests to brighten her days. "

"Newer facility with nice and comfortable rooms with private bath. My mother had good care, especially from the therapy staff. My mom went from bedridden to walking and getting herself ready for the day with independence! Good was adequate. Would highly recommend."
