The Best Nursing Home Communities in Stark County, OH

"Our family found this facility after my grandmother was a resident of a nursing home that was not providing her with quality care. And we needed to find a suitable facility. When we toured this facility we were instantly convinced that this was the place for our grandmother. It's a small facility so residents receive more personal care. It may not be as modern appearance-wise as some other local facilities. But they treat their patients with love and understanding. After the horrible experience that we had with another nursing home this is a welcome relief. We can relax knowing that our grandmother is in great hands."

"My cousin moved into Saint Luke Lutheran Home. He has a much bigger room here than in the other facility. It is a very nice-sized single room. And, the cost is significantly about $2,000 a month less than the four or five other facilities I checked into. And that's why he left where he was. That's a significant amount. And the care, it's got a good doctor. The doctor sees him every couple of weeks. They have a staff doctor. They have a good number of permanent nurses and aides. They use some agency people, but they're working to keep everything going. There's been no missed care that I know of. There's the availability of nurses stations. There are at least three nurses stations in the skilled area. So, a good number of staff are always available. They have just recently converted from an agency therapy department to an in-house one, which seems to be more responsive. They have an in-house duty barber. They wash all the clothes. They will serve all three meals a day in his room if he wants. They have an activity person who monitors each person's activity to see that you can keep them active in some way or socializing in some form."

"My grandfather lived out his final days at this facility. The nursing staff is phenomenal they went above and beyond for our family and we will be forever greatful. The building its self is older and can use an update but it was always clean and they were always kind to us. "

"I went there two months ago. My wife's brother stayed there. It was just satisfactory. It's just two big, long hallways. They have double-occupancy rooms, it was basically clean, and the staff was pretty helpful, but it's an old facility. They could improve on personal attentiveness without having to be asked to do things. The food was acceptable for a facility like that."

"My mom went to Aultman Woodlawn Inpatient Rehab. They were amazing. She had a lot of therapies there. For her having just broken her leg, she would get very tired but the therapy was fantastic. They had lots of windows. The rooms were adequate. They had a closet space large enough for visitors and for the patient. There was a person who came and cleaned the patient's room every day. The hallways were always clean. The therapy was way over and beyond what you would expect. It's not only therapy with my mom, but they trained my sister and me how to help her, how to get her in and out of a car, and how to help her when she got home."

"My friend been living here for 6 years now and he really like this place. They have lots of activities and play cards with his many friends and the food not to bad. But they need more help with laundry because he go with out clothes sometimes because there no one to wash them. His food not on time like it was, no works their also. And less baths he gets because no workers. But he really loves this place and his room mate . I pray they get more workers. Thy"

"I was a resident for almost 3 weeks for rehab. I was able to leave that fast because of the great Dr's and therapy I recieved. Everyone did a great job,from the administration to housekeeping and kitchen workers. You are treated with respect I will and have told people,friends and professionals,what a great place it is.. Besides the people,the rooms were spacious,visitors could come anytime.variety in meals and activities.. I would have no problem if I had to go back."

"My grandpa was admitted to Aultman Woodlawn after having a hip replacement done at Aultman Hospital. They assured us that this would be the best place for him to go. We were always checking on his because he had a heart condition. He was doing better but we felt the need to come by daily to support him. He was doing very well, except that he kept complaining about his incision being sore. The nurses kept reassuring us that it was fine and just part of the healing process. He continued to complain about it his entire stay there. He was released and ended up back in the hospital the following day due to infection from his incision. He ended up becoming very ill and passing away. It was terrible and sadly could have all been prevented if he was properly taken care of. The physical therapy staff there was great. They helped him get on his feet quickly and seemed to really care about the progress he was making. The nursing staff was the unfortunate part. Hopefully they have been able to get things together since this happened. It's awful to lose someone because of something that could have been prevented. "

"I was transfered to this facility from another nearby one and was there 20 days in November and eight days in Dec. of 2022. I was in my room alone which worked out for me very nicely and my great husband was there to visit me each and every day. The whole staff took care of my needs not only with twice a day therapy to make me get stronger with Helen and Mary Jane helping along with others but meds also delivered right on time as I needed them for pain I was in sometimes by charming Taylor or by Cindy or others as everyone came in the room with smiles on their faces and made you feel like you were the most important person there. Meals were delivered three times a day with a variety of choices available delivered by Samantha, Rebecca and Joy that I remember but many staff members were in and out to remember all the names. I also would like to mention Dr. Franz who also checked on me and how I was doing and always had a good and happy attitude . Whenever most all of the staff would come in the room and see my husband there with me, they would offer him coffee which was nice. As a plus also, if he had any questions of my situation or status, they were able to tell him as knew what was going on with me. Melissa was also a help to my husband in answering any questions. I would definitely recommend this facility for needed help for your loved ones."

"My husband is in Saint Joseph Care Center for long-term care and it's a very nice facility. People who work there are very nice, and they treat my husband very nicely. I know he gets lonely when I'm not there, but they talk to him. He had a nightmare the other night, and a charge nurse spent time with him, talking to him, reassuring him, and making him feel better. It's important to me that when he needs somebody, they're there. He could be a handful, but they are just very patient with him. He can't walk, so they get him out of the wheelchair, put him in bed, pull him up, and tuck him in. They're just very attentive to him, and I appreciate that. The room he's in right now is absolutely adequate and has plenty of room for a chair and everything that he needs. The bathroom is also very large. My husband has a really hard time eating, so they gave him a mechanical diet that he can handle a little bit better, and I thought that was very good. They are very attentive to things he asks for. The dining area is really nice. The food is served to him at the table with four other men, which makes it nice because he has somebody to talk to. There's also a place for guests to sit over there, and they would even give me food. They have a receptionist all day and all night. They are also always very in tune with what's going on with the people. We just had a daughter who died, and they were just extremely concerned. I guess stuff like that makes you feel almost like these people are family. They have so much activity, it's unbelievable. They have scheduled things they do every day, and they have extra things that they do, like the Halloween party coming up. People can even bring their pets with little costumes on them, which I think is hilarious. They do all sorts of things for the people to keep them entertained, physically active, and mentally working. I would pay a million dollars for my husband to be taken care of, so what I pay here is worth every nickel. I think it's a really great place for older people. It seems to fulfill a whole lot of things for them to keep going, keep active, and well taken care of."

"I had my mom and dad in Hanover House and I really like the place. The staff there were really friendly. When my mom first got there I had some small problems but I talk to the staff and the administrator and we resolved the problem. My mom went in for rehab and so did my dad. I do believe if you have a love one in here and you communicate with everyone in the establishment they will have a good stay. "

"My husband has been in Altercare for 3 weeks. It’s a lovely place, and everybody is very friendly. The residents get to know each other, so it’s very community-oriented. I think it’s a good fit for him. The staff is very helpful. They anticipate what you need, and they come and check on you all the time. They adopt these people so they’re all very nice to each other. He’s in a very nice and big shared room. I haven’t eaten there, but my husband doesn’t complain, and he’s a big eater. The dining area is very well decorated, very clean, spacious, and has windows. They have enough aides to help people to eat, and none of that is a problem. They bring in different foods once a week so they’re eating like a hamburger and fries from their favorite fast food restaurant, and they have fun with that. They also do excursions out and look at things or go to a concert, and you can join in that if you want to. "

"My father is in Altercare, they've been wonderful and helpful, and we're very happy. The rooms were very clean and roomy, the staff was excellent, and he seemed to like the food. They have crafts, Bingo, and people come in and play music; my father enjoyed it. I definitely would recommend Altercare. "
