"My mother is in Hickory Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation. They seem to be taking good care of her. She looks good, she likes it. It's a little outdated, it's probably 30 or 40 years old. This is her third or fourth month there. She hasn't complained about the food. She's in a private room, which was designed for two people, so she has a private room by herself, it's a big room. The bathroom is linked to another room, so that's not a good thing. The nurses are very friendly, and they do a lot of different things with them. I think they have games in the main room, play games or cards, and they have a schedule on the wall on each room, so she can go to it if she wants. They have a little screen TV. My mom is in the secure unit; it's not really nice."

"I've been in this facility for 61/2 weeks now. I still currently a resident. All has been top rate-superior nurses-aids-rehab-food-cleaning staff. I can't say enough about the complete staff. They have made my stay here (scary at first because of what I had done to myself) comforting. Conversations have been wonderful and helpful. God was good to me in this whole experience. Thank you all and God Bless each of you. "

"Tradition was going through renovation and it was kind of messy but I'm sure when they got the renovation done it's going to be nice. The food was good and my cousin who was there was going on therapy. "

"We transferred my dad to Falls Village Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation. It's a clean facility and it's good, but he complains about not getting service when he pushes his button. They leave him in his diapers for 42 hours before they change him. They have a dialysis center attached to the nursing home, and so he is transported there three times a week. So far, the staff has been good. I saw the food and it looked good, but my dad said it tasted bad. They need to be more responsible when their residents push the button for help. It could have been a bad day that just happened, because when I see him he looks clean."

"My brother was admitted to Canal Point suffering from stage 4 lung cancer. He was there twice after treatment at the hospital during his first stay. Even though we weren't thrilled at first with him being sent there, we were pleased with the care he received, The staff was friendly and attentive to his needs. Most of all though my brother felt safe and was secure with the fact that the nurses and staff were quick to address any difficulties he had. Unfortunately after being sent back to the hospital, my brother was sent to hospice where he passed the end of January 2018, but as a family we are grateful for the care he received at Canal Pointe."

"The Merriman is a very clean, well maintained, and elegant facility with spacious rooms, common areas and lots of activities for residents. The staff is very attentive, kind, and helpful. I think the main house was originally a mansion of one of the rubber barons, but I am not sure.My friend, who is a resident, always reports that the meals are wonderful, though she thinks they always feed her too much.Activities include live music several times a week, visiting pets once a week, lots of games, crafts, art projects, puzzles, and more. They have a small library, and lots of windows overlooking the garden and grounds.Residents seem to be in good spirits, and have many small groups of friends who enjoy different activities ranging from sitting on the patio to playing cards or board games.Staff did everything imaginable to help ease my friend's transition to the facility, and have made it a positive change for her, even though she still thinks of herself as a very independent person. All in all, they have done a great job and have improved her standard of living enormously. "

"My mother is in Altercare of Cuyahoga Falls for rehab. We weren't able to go inside with COVID going on. We chose it because we went on the five star recommendations that the hospital gave us. Everyone has been great. She is in quarantine right now, so she can't do any activities at the moment. A couple of days from now she's gonna be able to get into the general population of it, but as of right now she's in a room by herself. She said the food is fine. Every human we've asked a question to, we've got an immediate phone call back. We got input, and any problem we've had, we've called somebody and got it fixed. They have been wonderful. Everything we need they've gone out of their way to help us with."

"I am in a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment here in HCR Manor Care. It also has a kitchen, living room and dining room. The staff is helpful and I am satisfied with their care. They have people I can talk to. We are mostly in the same basket so I can relate to some of them and they seemed nice. Sometimes we have visitors and sometimes we have bingo night. The can improve on the food because it is not homey. But it is all good and I am very happy. "

"Overall, my experience with Rockynol was very positive. My family made the difficult decision to have my Grandmother placed there when she had advanced Alzheimer's and we could no longer care for her at home. Rockynol was clean and nicely decorated, and the floor my Grandmother was placed on was specially suited for Alzheimer's patients, with other patients who were similarly impaired. Since she was still mobile and talkative, but we could no longer care for her at home, it was wonderful to have a facility that could provide her the care she needed, but did not seem sterile or hospital like. When my Grandmother deteriorated further, she was moved into a comfort care room. It was nice that she didn't have to be moved to a hospital or a different facility in her last days, but rather was still in the same facility and therefore did not have the confusion or upset of a move. The staff was kind and caring, and several had specialized training and experience in dealing with Alzheimer's patients, which made them ideal in caring for my Grandmother. "

"I am a resident of Tallmadge Health and Rehab. They are constantly running out of supplies even simple things like washcloths. The food service needs some help. I have to give it to them, they're trying, but as a type 2 diabetic, it is a struggle for me every day to try to keep myself with a nutritious balance that doesn't wreck my blood sugar level, but they serve so much starch. They're pretty clean. They've got a nice staff who does that very well when they're here. Some of the aides are still good, but the good ones speak up, and then they're fired. So I live here in this constant paranoia, of people so afraid to do any self-initiative because they're so afraid they're going to be fired. And a lot of them just quit. There are bookshelves and things here. They're pretty good at that, they've had a lot of donations, but as for senior activities, it's very rare that we ever get out to go shopping. They have only one little van that doesn't hold more than four people. So it can take months before you're allowed to get out of the place. When the people got better jobs, they were not replaced, so, we have an activity director who doesn't like people. She's very introverted and very paranoid. I'm not allowed to make toast even with my brand new toaster because they feel uncomfortable. I asked them if I could bring my good bread to the kitchen, would they toast it? "No, that's against our policy." That's the kind of unreasonableness I deal with here."

"Bath Manor Special Care Centre was nice. The staff wasn’t always available when needed. My mom had a nice, shared room. They weren't fully equipped to deal with someone with dementia, but they do have a memory care facility."

"I am in the Health Care business in Texas, and didn't know what to expect in Akron, Ohio. (Sounds like a Texan, I know). My brother William C. H was a patient in the PT/Rehab section of Heather Knoll, after having been released prematurely from Akron General. Despite his relatively dire condition, the fine folks at Heather Knoll did their best, and the results showed it. They agreed to weekly telephone conferences and updates on his progress and outlook. I am happy to report that I lost a challenge wager to my brother: I bet that he wouldn't be able to make his favorite race in early July--but thanks to aggressive attention to all aspects of his care, he won the wager (as I had hoped, of course). His condition included c-diff, which required him to be isolated from the general population, but Heather Knoll took that in stride and accommodated him even in times of extreme distress and difficulty eating and even moving. I am delighted with his care, and commend the entire staff for their coordinated cooperation and willingness to go the extra mile for a very needy patient. We are in your debt, and I hope this review will put some potential clients and family caregivers at ease in choosing this establishment."

"The Briarwood seems very good, and my sister is very happy there. She loves it. She's happy with the food, too. She said they're warm and if you don't like the main dish, you can get hamburgers, hot dogs, or whatever. You get a food selection. They have a courtyard, a walking track, an exercise room, and they play bingo. It's a nursing home and assisted living, and she's in the assisted living. The staff seems very good, too. They've been very helpful whenever I've had questions. They do the cooking, cleaning, and laundry. When they don't have coronavirus, they take them places, but that's all come to a halt because of that."

"My mother is at The Pinnacle (Summit Villa). It is an older facility, and you can tell that from the outside, but it is homey. Everybody seems friendly and helpful. The food is average. They have bingo, celebrations for Father's Day, and ice cream socials."
