The food here sucks..especially if you are on a specialized diet ..If you're low sodium...they bring you bacon, sausage, kielbasa....all they want is money I have been trying to go home for 2 months but they keep waiting for "paperwok" I have submitted 3 times alreadyby the time the get what they think they need They have to "file again"because the other info isn't "current" any more.I WILL NOT BE COMING HERE after my heart transplant

ManorCare is a skilled nursing facility, so they mostly take care of the medical needs more than a regular senior community. Most of the staff are nurses and nursing aides. They have three levels of care, and have access for family members on a regular basis. The grounds are neither aesthetically appealing nor unappealing. They just don't have a picnic area outside, but they have dining rooms and the food is okay.

I am currently in the rehab dept as a patient and I would strongly advise anyone who is on a special diet to avoid this place. Their dietary dept is not set up for special diets and the result is really bad food. Nursing is pretty good but all in all this place is on the way out.

My loved one has only been in HCR ManorCare for a couple of days, but the staff is wonderful. They're very social. I don't have any complaints at all. They have an activity calendar on their wall. The rooms are not like those found in a hospital. They have their own furniture and stuff like that. The rooms are homier. They have bingo and tea time. There's also a talent show and movies. The dining area is open, nice, and bright. To improve the place, it will probably be improving the food. It doesn't look fantastic, and I haven't been brave enough to taste any of it. But other than that, it is good so far.

I am in a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment here in HCR Manor Care. It also has a kitchen, living room and dining room. The staff is helpful and I am satisfied with their care. They have people I can talk to. We are mostly in the same basket so I can relate to some of them and they seemed nice. Sometimes we have visitors and sometimes we have bingo night. The can improve on the food because it is not homey. But it is all good and I am very happy.

Having worked for several years an an Occupational Therapist in various nursing homes in the Akron area, I arranged to have my own mother admitted to HCRManorCare in Akron when she was released from an area hospital following surgery. I believe that she is receiving conscientious nursing care, and the staff members of the Activities Department are extraordinary. In addition to providing entertainment by various musicians, the Activities Department schedules in-house games, discussions, and movies. Trips to local places of interest are also scheduled. Socialization is a high priority at ManorCare! Nursing staff members have contacted me whenever they have a question or concern about my mother's care, and they have followed my instructions conscientiously. Knowing that Mom is well cared for enables me to continue my own daily routine without worrying about her. Although no nursing facility is perfect, the staff at ManorCare have demonstrated a sincere desire to care for their residents as though they were their own parents. Who can ask for more? (Note: At 104, my mom is the oldest resident at ManorCare!)
