"The Woods at Solon Pointe was a very nice facility. The food was delicious. It was like gourmet restaurant quality and worthy of being paid for. The people working there were very nice. They just couldn't accommodate both my in-laws. There's a lot of shopping around the community. My mother-in-law is in a wheelchair and she could've gotten around by herself in the actual community or outside. It's a beautiful facility."

"The aides and nurses are very attentive and sincere. My Mom has been at Hamlet for over 15 years. Questions are always answered quickly and professionally. The nursing team did a great job with Mom during her final days on Hospice Services at Hamlet. My wife and I could not be more appreciative of the care and constant over site that Tish and her team provided to my mom. We wish we could give Hamlet more stars than 5!"

"The assisted living facility that I found for my client is called Mount Alverna Village. It is run by the Franciscan Sisters from Chicago. My client is a former Franciscan priest. The place is very relaxed and comfortable. I think the staff is very helpful and very interested in trying to do whatever they can do to make my client’s stay there as pleasant as possible. He seems to be thriving there. The room is physically adequate. The dining area is not terribly large, but it doesn’t need to be. It is sufficient for those that would be in the room at any one time. They have various activities, too. "

"My mother is at The Pinnacle (Summit Villa). It is an older facility, and you can tell that from the outside, but it is homey. Everybody seems friendly and helpful. The food is average. They have bingo, celebrations for Father's Day, and ice cream socials."

"This is older facility however has a lot of repeat business because of how they provide care for residents. The place is clean and taken care of. I visited with my friend's family member and everyone was friendly and helpful. She said that her grandmother was here first, then my friend needed rehab and now her mother is here because care provided is excellent. STNAs and nursing working hard and taking care of residents"

"I am a resident of Tallmadge Health and Rehab. They are constantly running out of supplies even simple things like washcloths. The food service needs some help. I have to give it to them, they're trying, but as a type 2 diabetic, it is a struggle for me every day to try to keep myself with a nutritious balance that doesn't wreck my blood sugar level, but they serve so much starch. They're pretty clean. They've got a nice staff who does that very well when they're here. Some of the aides are still good, but the good ones speak up, and then they're fired. So I live here in this constant paranoia, of people so afraid to do any self-initiative because they're so afraid they're going to be fired. And a lot of them just quit. There are bookshelves and things here. They're pretty good at that, they've had a lot of donations, but as for senior activities, it's very rare that we ever get out to go shopping. They have only one little van that doesn't hold more than four people. So it can take months before you're allowed to get out of the place. When the people got better jobs, they were not replaced, so, we have an activity director who doesn't like people. She's very introverted and very paranoid. I'm not allowed to make toast even with my brand new toaster because they feel uncomfortable. I asked them if I could bring my good bread to the kitchen, would they toast it? "No, that's against our policy." That's the kind of unreasonableness I deal with here."

"My mother in law was there for about a month suffering from ALS. She had a nurse named Bill who was very attentive, caring , and treated her like family. There were some wonderful aides as well such as Kim. The facility was clean and easy to work with and I would recommend to other family and friends ."

"I've been in this facility for 61/2 weeks now. I still currently a resident. All has been top rate-superior nurses-aids-rehab-food-cleaning staff. I can't say enough about the complete staff. They have made my stay here (scary at first because of what I had done to myself) comforting. Conversations have been wonderful and helpful. God was good to me in this whole experience. Thank you all and God Bless each of you. "

"We transferred my dad to Falls Village Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation. It's a clean facility and it's good, but he complains about not getting service when he pushes his button. They leave him in his diapers for 42 hours before they change him. They have a dialysis center attached to the nursing home, and so he is transported there three times a week. So far, the staff has been good. I saw the food and it looked good, but my dad said it tasted bad. They need to be more responsible when their residents push the button for help. It could have been a bad day that just happened, because when I see him he looks clean."

"My brother was admitted to Canal Point suffering from stage 4 lung cancer. He was there twice after treatment at the hospital during his first stay. Even though we weren't thrilled at first with him being sent there, we were pleased with the care he received, The staff was friendly and attentive to his needs. Most of all though my brother felt safe and was secure with the fact that the nurses and staff were quick to address any difficulties he had. Unfortunately after being sent back to the hospital, my brother was sent to hospice where he passed the end of January 2018, but as a family we are grateful for the care he received at Canal Pointe."

"My mother is in Altercare of Cuyahoga Falls for rehab. We weren't able to go inside with COVID going on. We chose it because we went on the five star recommendations that the hospital gave us. Everyone has been great. She is in quarantine right now, so she can't do any activities at the moment. A couple of days from now she's gonna be able to get into the general population of it, but as of right now she's in a room by herself. She said the food is fine. Every human we've asked a question to, we've got an immediate phone call back. We got input, and any problem we've had, we've called somebody and got it fixed. They have been wonderful. Everything we need they've gone out of their way to help us with."

"My mother is in Hickory Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation. They seem to be taking good care of her. She looks good, she likes it. It's a little outdated, it's probably 30 or 40 years old. This is her third or fourth month there. She hasn't complained about the food. She's in a private room, which was designed for two people, so she has a private room by herself, it's a big room. The bathroom is linked to another room, so that's not a good thing. The nurses are very friendly, and they do a lot of different things with them. I think they have games in the main room, play games or cards, and they have a schedule on the wall on each room, so she can go to it if she wants. They have a little screen TV. My mom is in the secure unit; it's not really nice."

"My grandmother lives at The Briarwood. The staff are fantastic!! All of the staff are compassionate and caring. The building is always clean. My family and I never smell foul odors. All the residents look clean and well taken care of. My grandma eats and likes all the meals that are served. We have decided to have her stay long term since the staff have been so wonderful. "

"I’ve been at the Merriman almost a year now in assisted living. The staff treat me really well here and are on time with everything. The facility offers many activities to choose from. Dr kerek has been seeing me while I’ve lived here and is a great doctor. I get along with all the residents here and i have made a lot of new friends here. I feel at home and comfortable. I love it here."

"My grandmother was in Tamarack Ridge Health & Rehabilitation before she passed away. I think it was very good. They were very, very caring, and the service was very good. The staff was super. They were really good. The food was good, and they did accommodate special needs. It's brand new. It's only a year old. So it's very, very clean. It's beautiful. They have a lot of sitting areas, a lot of areas for families. My grandmother, of course, did not use that, but I was able to walk around and take a look at other areas of it. They have a huge rec center and activity center and they have a courtyard, which, of course, is not open this time of year, but it looked very nice. They have a salon so you can get your hair done. So they have a lot of extra services. It is one of the most expensive ones in the area."

"My mom has been staying at Arbors At Stow for about a week now. So far, I like it, and I think it's the best place for her to be. The staff is really good, and they do follow up calls every week or every two weeks to let you know how the person is doing and if they have recommendations for them. My mom is really happy there in a shared room. They have dementia and Alzheimer's patients, so they're specially trained to take care of them. They have a calendar posted with different activities, church services, and trips out shopping. They have a nice courtyard that they can sit out on if the weather's permitting. The place is very clean and doesn't smell. My mom likes the meals."

"A family friend was in Altercare in Kent for two years. He came in very sick and they nursed him back to being fairly healthy. Then dementia began to affect him so he stayed. I visited him almost every week for those two years. The staff was caring and understanding even when he was grumpy. They provided hospice services for him at the end of his life. I have visited at least six facilities like Altercare in Kent, and it ranks at the top in my mind."

If these options aren't available to you, check if your loved one has long-term care insurance or contact your Area Agency on Aging to ask about local financial assistance programs for seniors.
