"My sister is going back to Cardinal Retirement Village. She had an apartment there, and that's where she was when she fell and broke her ankle. It was very nice, though. It seemed to be well-managed. The rooms were nice. She was only there for a little over a month before she broke her ankle. They only asked for a three-month contract lease, and after three months, it's month-to-month, so that's a nice feature for them. Not having somebody sign a long-term lease is a good idea. The residents were very friendly, and the staff were very friendly, too. I think my sister said they usually have choices of what you get for your meals. With her only being there for four weeks and the experiences she had, I think she said the meals were good. The apartments were clean. Originally, she had a studio apartment, which was just one room with a kitchen area and a bath. What they have available now is a one-bedroom apartment, which is much bigger than the studio. She didn't like the studio because it was kind of small. My sister participated in some activities. They had bingo and other activities, but I'm not sure what they were. They were giving her a discount on her room, so that was a plus. The value seemed to be the standard value, but when I compared it to other places, they were slightly lower."

"I visited Brookdale Barberton. The staff was excellent. The room sizes were very nice. They weren't really small. There was plenty of room for furniture, plenty of room for moving around, and having company in, that kind of thing. The dining area was very large, very neat, and clean. The parking situation was good. There were no issues whatsoever."

And although he is physically able to live on his own, we came to a point where his cognitive degeneration declined to the point where we felt he could not live on his own. He fought leaving his condo and independent life. But following a stint in the hospital, we felt it was a good time to make the leap. The Inn at Apple Ridge was able to meet our aggressive move-in schedule. The facility is absolutely amazing. We have noticed an unbelievable difference in our dad. He is happy, lively, and busy. His "check in" calls only last a couple of minutes as he is always on the move. He loves his room, the people, the food and the freedom. The Inn at Apple Ridge was best leap of faith we could have made."

"The rooms are lovely. My Mom has plenty of room with a large bathroom. The facility is clean and feels like home. The residents are in a safe environment. The staff is very caring and responds quickly when needed. My Mom loves it!"

"I toured Vitalia Senior Residences at Stow. The place was gorgeous and very nice. Everything seemed like it was going to be great. It was very costly. It was probably going to be very costly for my mom's condition. She doesn't need two-person assist yet, but she needs a lot of assistance. They couldn't give me a price or an estimate or anything like that until she was assessed, whereas others could give me guesstimates at least. I just couldn't get pricing, and I was in a hurry because I wanted to get Mom out of the environment she was in. However, everybody was friendly. I met directors from different departments, and they were all very friendly. It looked like they had good activities too. The cleanliness was good. The room was nice."

"The rooms and entire community environment have been a blessing for our family. My dad is more active, eating healthier, and socializing with many. Speaking of food- it is amazing!! Chad runs an amazing kitchen and his staff all knew my dad's name the very first day. Chad's spicy chili is some of the best chili I have ever had!! As a matter of fact- it's all so very good!!"

"My mother is moving into Mulberry Gardens Senior Living. We chose them because of the amenities, the size of the room, and the food. The staff was phenomenal in helping us and answering all our questions. It impressed us as the most complete care and the nicest setting. They also offer a small discount for veterans' families, which is nice. The tour was great. They have a podiatrist who comes for their nails. They have a hair salon. It's well laid out. It's open, airy, and very pleasant. They seem to be very much on top of their game. They're very knowledgeable and very kind. We talked to a couple of the residents, and everyone seemed very happy. It's beautiful."

"My mother has been at Brookdale South Medina since early March in Memory Care with hospice. I am a frequent visitor and between the staff in Memory Care and hospice, I feel Mom is receiving excellent care. Although she is thin, she is high maintenance because she is incontinent, has a Foley catheter, is unable to bear weight and is moved from her hospital bed to and from her Broda wheelchair by Hoyer lift. An aide helps with her feeding because she tends to fall asleep and forgets that she is eating. I have observed aides and nurses remaining upbeat and vigilant while interacting with residents. They are also pleasant and responsive if I ask them a question."

"My dad moved in. So far we've visited him outside, and it was kind of nice that we could see him, but other than peeking through his bedroom window I have no idea what the inside of the facility looks like. I think it's a good size for him; it's the size of a double bed hotel room. There's a guy named Brad there, he's extremely helpful, relatable, and I've met a handful of people there. Everybody knows my dad by name, so when I say, "I'm going to visit Dad," they know exactly who I'm talking about, and I feel like it's very personal. He said the food is OK. They told me he's playing bingo and he gets to hangout in the library or watch TV if he doesn't feel like socializing."

"I toured Brookdale Camelot Medina. My mom is a very outdoorsy person, and every room in the facility has a little balcony. It's little, but they all have a balcony, so it's not depending on what price point you're at or anything like that. They all had access to the outside so that she could sit outside, and maybe have tomato plants or something within her reach, and I think that that will be a good thing for her. We met a few of the other staff. I'm not sure if they're nurse's aides or something like that. Everybody seemed to be very friendly, and I've had feedback from other people's family members that turned out that they have their loved one there, too, and that everybody is great. They had three meals a day. Plus, they have what they call a sweet shop, and they have, like, a pastry chef lady who comes in. I'm not sure if it's weekly or how often it is, but she makes desserts and shares the dessert with everybody. Another major thing was since my mom is 97, I wanted to make sure that the facility was clean and age in place. So even if she got very dependent, when that time comes, if hospice is needed, they can handle that."

"I went to Eden Vista of Stow. We liked that it looked clean and homey, not like a big, fancy hotel. The apartments had a living area, a kitchen area, a bedroom, and a bathroom. The person who took us around was very friendly and very informative."

"I put my mother into Hudson Grande Senior Living. So far, I'm very pleased. My mother has been attending activities, and the food looks delicious. I've actually eaten there twice, and it is very good. My mom is getting the help she needs. The rooms are fine. For activities, they take them to movies. They make sure they get out of their rooms, and they show an appropriate older movie for the residents. They also have guessing games where they have to finish the end of the name of a movie show. They all play along on that, and they seem to enjoy it. They also have a thing where you would toss these large donut-shaped things over, and they were clapping for each other. Everybody was enjoying it. They take them to happy hour that doesn't involve alcohol unless they want that. The staff are all very friendly. They call me if there's a question about something. They're still getting to know my mother medically."

"The staff at Danbury Brunswick is very accommodating and helpful in any issues that I might have or somebody else might have. The kitchen gives a good variety of meals for us. The aides are more than helpful. The nurses are very good. I'm very pleased here. It's very nice. I really like it here. They have lots of activities for us to participate in if we choose or they're open to suggestions, if anyone has an idea. I have a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment. It's perfect for me because I'm by myself. It's a perfect size and very accommodating. At my window, I have a birdfeeder outside that I can watch the birds, so it's very nice. We have a pub where they have larger gatherings and happy hour on Fridays. They play bingo there. We have a bistro and a theater if there are special football games on or a special movie on Friday nights or Saturday nights, church services and exercise classes. They offer a lot of different events and it's up to the individual what they can participate in. They do crafts usually once a week and also cooking, making some kind of cookie or muffin or something. They offer a lot of variety.
