"My dad moved in. So far we've visited him outside, and it was kind of nice that we could see him, but other than peeking through his bedroom window I have no idea what the inside of the facility looks like. I think it's a good size for him; it's the size of a double bed hotel room. There's a guy named Brad there, he's extremely helpful, relatable, and I've met a handful of people there. Everybody knows my dad by name, so when I say, "I'm going to visit Dad," they know exactly who I'm talking about, and I feel like it's very personal. He said the food is OK. They told me he's playing bingo and he gets to hangout in the library or watch TV if he doesn't feel like socializing."

"I toured Brookdale Camelot Medina. My mom is a very outdoorsy person, and every room in the facility has a little balcony. It's little, but they all have a balcony, so it's not depending on what price point you're at or anything like that. They all had access to the outside so that she could sit outside, and maybe have tomato plants or something within her reach, and I think that that will be a good thing for her. We met a few of the other staff. I'm not sure if they're nurse's aides or something like that. Everybody seemed to be very friendly, and I've had feedback from other people's family members that turned out that they have their loved one there, too, and that everybody is great. They had three meals a day. Plus, they have what they call a sweet shop, and they have, like, a pastry chef lady who comes in. I'm not sure if it's weekly or how often it is, but she makes desserts and shares the dessert with everybody. Another major thing was since my mom is 97, I wanted to make sure that the facility was clean and age in place. So even if she got very dependent, when that time comes, if hospice is needed, they can handle that."

"Danbury Massillon is a great place. The people here, the staff, volunteers, the assistants are very, very helpful and very caring. It's got a lot of entertainment and things that help the people here. The food is great and the service is tremendous. I live in an efficiency apartment. It's got its own bathroom. It's very nice. They have people that come in and keep it clean. Once a week, they get your laundry done. They have different floor plans. They have one- and two-bedroom apartments. They have groups that come in and play. They have a movie theater. They have just about anything you can think of. They take people out to various restaurants in the community. They have entertainment for family members. I've stayed at another place before here and this place is absolutely number one. The medical staff and the volunteers all care very, very much about the people here. They give you opportunities to have two different meals for every meal. If you don't like what they're serving, you can ask them for other things and they'll give it to you. I like shrimp and they give shrimp on a regular basis. I love it. It's in a small area outside of Massillon, Ohio. It is a beautiful facility with all the flowers and everything around it, and they keep the place immaculately clean. It is a beautiful location. Everything's really nice."

"I can’t say enough good things about Storypoint. My mom’s stay there in assisted living was full of kindness and genuine caring from everyone. She loved the activities and sharing meals in the dinning room with her new friends. She was so hesitant to make that move there but everyone welcomed her and made her stay so comfortable and happy from day one. And she loved the delicious food as well. Thank you!!"

"I toured Vitalia Senior Residences at Montrose. In the independent living, their townhouses and garages look like there is a lot of independence. The properties were beautiful and it's accessible. The staff was were very helpful. The food didn't seem as mushy and it tasted like regular food."

"My mother is staying at Brookdale Canton, and it's been wonderful. They provide three meals. They clean her room once a week. They do her laundry once a week. She has assistance in the bathroom when she needs it. And then there is a doctor on staff if you want to use their doctor. There are nurses on the premises 24-7. My mom is in one bedroom, and it's the largest room. She has a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchenette, and a living room. There are smaller rooms available for single or double occupancy. They have a beauty salon, an events director who does activities and exercise classes, and puzzle tables all over the place. My mom has a therapist that comes in and works with her."

"I toured Brookdale Montrose. They have no pool, but they have two meals a day. It was very nice. I had lunch there and I had a hamburger. It was very good. As for activities, they have everything. They have an exercise room."

"I loved Brookdale Bath, but they wouldn't accept my sister. The facility was very clean and attractive. The atmosphere was attractive and friendly. The dining area was open and attractive."

"I visited Canton Regency. They were very friendly, very thorough, answered any questions I had, and offered a lot. They had booklets that show the sizes of the rooms. I saw the activity area. The staff took me all through the building. They have bus trips. They take you to different places like Walmart and to the mall. They have different buildings. If you are independent and you need assisted, you have to go to another building. The one downfall is they had no room in memory care. It's been remodeled and everything is clean, modern and well lit. It looked very beautiful."

"I toured Heritage Crossing. It's going to fit my needs very well for my mother. The rooms were nice. The pricing was fair from what I'm seeing with the market. I liked it because there were more individual residents versus couples, which made it easier for my mother. In the lobby, everything is very welcoming. I like that they have very nice gathering areas all through the facility, so family and friends can always go off into a private area with beautiful furniture or fireplaces. They have a theater room. The activities that they have are fabulous. I met the chef. The restaurant looks wonderful. There's enough to pick some off the menu without being too much. I did look at the menu. It looks like a bistro-type menu. It was very nice, chicken waffles and that kind of stuff. I think the chef makes maybe one special for the night. Then you have a couple of other choices if you want. They had a trick-or-treat there yesterday from the kids' school. Kids in the area could come through. The residents made Halloween hats and cast and costumes and we're excited to have the kids there. I was impressed, like sitting in the lobby while I was waiting to talk to the medical director about my mother's situation. The housekeeper team, they're joking around with the managers. I love that. I just thought that they all seemed to enjoy each other's company."

"I love Heritage Villas. My husband is there and it's just a beautiful place. Every building looks like a plantation house and it's got such a sense of community. Then they have a community center so people can get together and play cards if they want to be social. There's only one person they've ever had on staff that I did not enjoy and that person wasn't there long. I think every place gets a bad rat, people who are not good enough or don't jump high enough, but this place shampoos the carpet and changes out the flooring. They're just a caring group. There are seven villas and every villa has a master dining area where everybody can come together and eat at the table, or they can eat in their room, but it's one big long-arm style table. They do three meals a day. In the summer, they'll barbecue out. They'll make hamburgers or something, but they always make home-cooked meals for dinner. If my husband goes out and tells them that he wants an egg, they make him one. They don't tie people down to "Oh, you can only eat at this time." If they want to eat at 3:00 in the afternoon, somebody is going to go in and make them food and there's never any argument about "Oh, you can't have this or that." If my husband told them he loves tomato soup, they went out and stocked the kitchen with tomato soup. The facilities are clean and accessible. It's the cheapest place out there and they're kind."

"My mom was at Allay Senior Care of Meyers Lake. I like pretty much everything about this community. The facility was nice. There were just 16 rooms in the building she was in. There was a great community of caregivers. The nurses were all fantastic. For activities, they brought everybody out for bingo games. They took them outside and did a cookout. They had picnics on the patio outside. They had crafty things, too. My mom couldn't participate in too much in her condition, but they did a good job. Cleanliness was top-notch. Everything was always clean. She was always clean, and her room was clean. Everybody was just great. For what they provided, and everywhere we looked, they were kind of mid-range on the price. They weren't the cheapest ones we looked at, but they were very good."

"My mother was at Danbury Brunswick. The entire facility, the staff, and the residents were all very friendly and accommodating. It's a very friendly place to be. The staff was sometimes a little hard to get in touch with, but when we did communicate, they were very accommodating. They were very good, answered all our questions, addressed all our concerns, and very professional. She was in a studio apartment. She started out in a one-bedroom, which was very nice. It was an excellent size then she moved to a studio department, which was a very nice size too. It was clean and accessible to all the amenities, the dining room and the activities. Everything was very good in the room. It did cost her less. The reason she moved was more of her mobility had changed. Her first room was on the second floor, and it was quite a distance from the elevator. Moving her downstairs gave her easier access to the dining room and such. They have busses, although we really didn't use those because I was there to help mom. They had a very nice dining room and a sitting area that was kind of like a living room when you walked in with couches and TV. There were activities daily throughout the day. They were two different rooms and one of the rooms we had used for family gatherings and people used it a lot. They had an outdoor patio space with umbrella tables. It was very nice. It was located off of a main busy road, however, it was down a side street and very park-like setting across the street from a lake. It was a beautiful setting. They had a gazebo. You'd never know you were that close to a main road. For residents who were more independent, there is a major grocery store and restaurant within walking distance. The location was very nice. The meals were good and portions were good considering the residents. Even the first time we walked in there, we felt very comfortable. It felt very welcoming. They really came up with some good ideas and a lot of participation in activities. It's pretty competitively priced. We just had some trouble sometimes with getting laundry done and stuff like that."
