I visited this facility

Allay Senior Care of Meyers Lake wasn't what we were looking for. It wasn't that there weren't good things about it. They did seem clean. There was an outdoor patio, but I don't think they ate there. It was a very small facility. There were two next to each other, but there was definitely not enough space for Mom. Most of the people there were very much more needy than her, so she wouldn't have had people to talk with. I only met the administrator, and she did seem to be doing a good job.

Provider Response

Thank you for coming to visit Allay Senior Care! We are small community by design. We want to give our residents with dementia as much success with independence for as long as we can. The smaller environment is easier for them to navigate even with memory impairment. This is why we have two smaller buildings instead of one larger one that can be too confusing and overwhelming. We cater to all stages and forms of dementia and do not separate them by level, so there are some residents that are more progressed mixed in with higher functioning residents. The benefit is they don't have to keep moving due to a change in their level of care. We're sorry it wasn't a good fit for your mom, but we hope you find the one that is.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife is a resident of Allay Senior Care of Meyers Lake. They got stuff going on all the time. They have music therapy. The music therapy is fantastic. They have teams replacing games and different things. They clean the place every day. The staff were good, hard-working people. The food is not bad. They're good. It's not quite as expensive as a lot of the others. It's good value.

Provider Response

Thank you Darryl! We have enjoyed taking care of Lilly for the past 2 1/2 years and getting to know you! We're so glad you enjoy the music therapy! Music plays an important role for those with dementia and we are happy to have an excellent music therapist.

My mom was at Allay Senior Care of Meyers Lake. I like pretty much everything about this community. The facility was nice. There were just 16 rooms in the building she was in. There was a great community of caregivers. The nurses were all fantastic. For activities, they brought everybody out for bingo games. They took them outside and did a cookout. They had picnics on the patio outside. They had crafty things, too. My mom couldn't participate in too much in her condition, but they did a good job. Cleanliness was top-notch. Everything was always clean. She was always clean, and her room was clean. Everybody was just great. For what they provided, and everywhere we looked, they were kind of mid-range on the price. They weren't the cheapest ones we looked at, but they were very good.

Provider Response

Tim, Thank you! It was our pleasure to care for your mom. You and your family were wonderful to meet and get to know!

I visited this facility

Allay Senior Care of Meyers Lake was beautiful outside because it's Meyers Lake, but I wasn't impressed with the inside at all. It's not dirty, but when you walk in, there's a large room and all the residents were in there. There were not enough restrooms as well. It was a nice facility, but I didn't like the fact that it was so small, you had a lot of residents cramped into one area. To me, they're short-staffed for as many residents as I saw. When you look at the elderly with the conditions that they have, they need more people there to assist them. The room wasn't bad. It's not as large as the other place though and there's not as much to offer, but mom will have her own shower there. It's an older facility and not as updated and if it's gonna be that small a facility, they should have fewer residents. As far as the seating area, you can divide it up into areas for different activities and you can still have that big screen television up there for those that want to watch television. The staff that was there was friendly. The facility could've been better. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the greatest. One of the things I like about it was they have different people come. In the brochure, they had the sheriff's department come in with the K9s to visit with them, and they have field trips.

Provider Response

Justine, Thank you for your honest opinion. Allay has a smaller environment with an easy, open floor plan for our residents' needs. Too large of an environment for someone with dementia can be overwhelming and lead to increased confusion and agitation. Our most recent renovations were completed this year to update the building. We are fully staffed. Each resident has their own private bathroom and one off the dining room for easy access. We appreciate you stopping in and hope you and your mom found the perfect fit.

My aunt moved into Allay Senior Care of Meyers Lake. The staff needs to be a little bit cleaner at the dining room table. I know everybody is a bit short-handed. The average rating was because of the cleanliness after they had dinner, and we've had an incident where she was supposed to have a doctor's appointment and they were to have her ready and the staff didn't communicate with the other staff to let them be aware of that. So then she wasn't ready for her appointment. So they have a lack of communication with each other. She said the food is terrible. She doesn't seem to be very pleased with the food. I like the facility. That was one reason I chose it, the facility where she's at was very bright and just seemed more cheerful than the other building they had.

Provider Response

Kim, I do believe all your concerns have been addressed and resolved, per the Executive Director. She put a new communication system in place in regards to appointments and even had your Aunt waiting at the door for one of her appointments- ready to go. We also now have a designated cook and haven’t had any complaints about the food since adding this position. Thank you for your honest opinion and giving us the opportunity to make improvements.

We went to Allay Senior Care of Meyers Lake. It was very good, they were very helpful. She walked us through, took us to the room, and showed us around. We even communicated with some of the people that lived there, and that was pretty awesome. She got upset a little bit because they were interfering with the tour, and we told her it was fine because we understand that they're like that, and just want to know what's going on. She was fine with that, once we told her we didn't care about them walking around. She's been calling me, keeping in touch with me to find out if I've made up my mind yet. She said if there was any way she could help us to please let her know and she would do whatever she could. I appreciate all that kind of help. It's very helpful for me. I thought it was very nice. It was very clean. The rooms were very nice, but I just think they're a little bit small. They have a beautiful outside patio. They have gardens there that people can help with, and they're allowed to bring in the food and stuff from the gardenn, and I think that's great that they allow them to do that.

Provider Response

Lynn, Thank you for touring Allay and taking the time to review. I'm glad you enjoyed our beautiful outdoor area and gardens. We love making use of them. We are a small community. We do this to benefit our guests. It makes it more homelike for them and is easier to adjust and navigate, even with their memory impairment. I'm happy to be of assistance, that is what I am here for.

I visited this facility

I had a very good experience visiting the memory care area of Allay Senior Care of Meyers Lake. The staff was very knowledgeable, and the facility looked good. They had two buildings, and all the residents have memory issues or Alzheimer's. It's all in a fenced-in area, so it's secure. They've got a courtyard that the residents can go outside to when the weather's appropriate. I wasn't too impressed with the rooms. They were small, but they try to keep the residents out in the common area most of the day. They have someone that comes in to do haircuts, they do crafts, and they have activities going on throughout the day. It's a good location too.

Provider Response

Debbie, Thank you for visiting Allay Senior Care. I'm happy you had a good experience and took the time to give us your feedback.

We went to Allay Senior Care of Meyers and we liked it. It's a smaller place, but the rooms were awesome, Melissa was wonderful, and she couldn't have been nicer. The place was clean and the people were nice. She went out of her way to show us everything, even, all the amenities, and where they have arts and crafts and stuff like that and the rooms and the barbershop and whatever they have. She showed us and it was very nice. It was homier. They have a patio in the back. The residents were walking around. They talked to every nurse and person there. They all know him by name, and that was impressive too.

Provider Response

Bonnie, I’m so glad you came to visit! I appreciate your kind words. As you may have noticed, I am proud of our community and the service we provide. I love our smallness and that we are more like a home and family to each other. Come see us anytime!

My husband just moved into Allay Senior Care of Meyers Lake last week. He hasn't been there that long, but I think he is doing OK so far. I like the place because it's small. There's eight patients and they're all Alzheimer's and dementia people. They provide food and care for these people, like washing them, giving them their pills, and whatever they need. The manager and all the people there have been wonderful.

Provider Response

Thank you Eva! Your husband was a dear man. We enjoyed caring for him and getting to know both of you!

Allay Senior Care was such a blessing for my family. My mother was there for several years before she passed away from Alzheimer’s. The nurses were so kind to her and my family. They were so supportive and helpful especially to my father who visited daily. I honestly do not know what our family would have done without Allay. Our family will be forever grateful for Allay

Provider Response

Your expression of gratitude is heart warming! I am very thankful we could be there to support not just your mom, but the entire family. Unfortunately, this disease affects the whole family, and I'm so glad we could help!

I visited this facility

I liked the layout of Allay Senior Care. It looked more homey than other places, and less hospital-looking. I saw the residents playing cards, but I didn't see any structured activity at that time. They have areas inside and outside that they can go to.

Provider Response

I appreciate you stopping by to see us and taking the time to review our community. I love our home-like atmosphere! We do have structured activities. We have activities staff that assist with a variety of programs to meet the individual interests of our residents. We also have monthly family nights, which is a fun time for our residents and families to come together for entertainment, refreshments and a good time. And yes, we have a lovely courtyard for our residents to enjoy the outdoors and fresh air. I hope we can be of assistance to you in the future!

I visited this facility

Allay Senior Care of Meyers Lake was a really good place and nicely kept up. I was there at lunch time and the food looked appetizing. The staff was very nice and the director was wonderful. They were competent and very caring. They had a lot of residents on different levels of care. They could go out in the beautiful courtyard because it was gated with a fence all around. There were two buildings and any of the residents could walk outside. Each room had its own personal bathroom, which was a big plus for me.

Provider Response

Thank you for the review Clarissa! All our rooms are private, with their own bathrooms. It can be hard enough moving into a community. It helps to have your own personal space to retreat to, when needed. Our community also has a smaller, home-like feel with less residents that helps with this adjustment. Our manager has been with us for 14 years. I'm glad you met her on your visit! Our residents and families go through so much with this disease, they deserve well trained, compassionate staff for their loved one! Again, thank you for visiting and your kind words!

Allay Senior Care is a small place of two buildings with only 16 residents in each. I like that they specialize in Alzheimer’s and memory care. They have three meals with snacks and exercise. My husband takes long walks; they have a beautiful area in a park-like setting, which is very nice for them to get outside and exercise there. The staff is very polite and helpful. They have a doctor on call and doctors that come in at different periods.

Provider Response

Donna, Thank you for the review! We are one of the only communities in the Canton area solely dedicated to caring for those with Alzheimer's and related dementia's. Because these are the clients we serve, the design of our building, activities, and training for our staff- has all been designed and tailored to benefit those with memory impairment. And you see a difference! I think our courtyard is beautiful, too, and love seeing our residents and their families enjoying themselves out there.

I visited this facility

Allay Senior Care was very good, and I thought it was safe for someone with dementia. The caretaker came out on a Saturday and helped us. We liked it, but we're not ready yet. It was close to my home, so it would be easy for me to visit my mom. Some of the rooms were small, but they have bigger rooms too. People come in sometimes; they had a woman come in with a baby doll, they had a really nice lounge area where they could watch in a huge big screen, they had a little restaurant where food was served, and they had a schedule of activities. They had a nice outdoor area.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to give us a review on your first visit! I do hope you'll be back when the time is right and we can be here for you and your loved one.
