"Had my mom there for a year before we moved her to a memory care as her condition worsened.However it was the perfect place for her in this season of her life.We had a .Great experience-the staff was both professional and personable.The job these folks do day in and day out is admirable.They know the residents by name and provide a warm caring home community. "The lighting at Cedar Cove Assisted Living was very dim. The halls were not as wide and they would not allow my dad to have his scooter there, which would have been an issue with the length of walk that he had to do to get to the dining room. Other than that, they were all friendly and polite. I've had meals there and the food was good. The apartment we saw was just one big room with a bathroom. My dad was supposed to get a private room, which he wanted, but they didn't have one available (they have some private rooms, but most of them are semi-private). They have a nice dining room. I know someone that has been there for about three years. So, I've been out there many times to visit and most of the residents were very social."

"My Mother has been in the assisted living side for 4 months & she is doing very well. She has companionship she did not have at home alone. The staff are very good to her. There are alot of activities daily. This is a small community with works well for her. The staff is excellent & they keep you informed of any problems right away. Most of the staff are long term employees. "

"I like the fact that The Davis Community is a little bit lower in price than the other places we looked at. They have a really beautiful facility, and my dad is happy there. I had a meal there, and it was very good. They served salad like romaine lettuce with tomatoes and carrots and a lot of vegetables in it, and they served chicken meatloaf, and that was very good. They have a lot of crafting-type activities. They have bingo a lot. They have entertainment come in. My dad was telling me all about a man who came in and played the guitar and sang and stuff and how enjoyable it was. When we went there at the very beginning we were looking, it was near Christmas time, and they were having Christmas parties and stuff and it was very nice. The staff members there are wonderful."

"I don't think there was anything I liked about Champions Assisted Living. It was empty and dreary. There was nobody anywhere. It was a hodgepodge. There were three floors, but you couldn't get to the third floor unless you went down to the second floor and take another elevator up. It's too confusing for me, but I think part of it is because it's under construction and we also had a very new tour guide, which was horrible. He didn't know how to cater to our needs or our wants. We went here, there, and everywhere. When we went in there, everybody was very happy, very nice, and very helpful. We only waited a few minutes, but the lady that gave us the tour was not well-versed at all. We had friends there before and my father was in the other part of it one time and the food was quite good. I didn't get to see everything, but if you go online and look at it, it has everything you want, that's why I called it the Taj Mahal. The independent living is probably one of the best in this area and it's just rated very high. It was very expensive, but I was very disappointed with it. The facility itself was nice, but it's all over the place and I didn't like that. I don't have Alzheimer's yet and I have a hard time understanding it. I don't like the assisted living facility at all. A lot of it was under construction. It was bad timing on our side, too."

"Content: My husband and I moved here 3 years ago. We were first drawn to the gorgeous landscaping (ponds, trees, flowering bushes,) 3 miles of walking opportunities, diverse housing options (which makes it look like a village, not a campus). The staff are caring, friendly, helpful and just nice, likable people who want to serve and help us in any way they can. We have met so many interesting, friendly, and helpful people who are now our friends and neighbors. No one should be bored here - there are activities that challenge mind and body, including exercise classes at 8 a.m.! Followed by aqua exercises! We love not having to shop much for food, fix the food, clean up after the food! The continental breakfast and one delicious meal provided each day more than satisfies our taste buds, supplemented by a small plate of something from the refrigerator. I will admit that it was challenging to downsize from a very large home to 1450 sq. ft + wonderful, pretty private patio."

"My father is at Leland House. They seem to be a caring bunch of people. It's a smaller facility. The staff is very friendly. He's in the memory care locked down facility. There are two people to a room and they have their own bathroom and cable TV in their rooms. The menu looks good. They have a little courtyard they can go out to. The pricing is reasonable."

"My wife has been at the Landings for the past 10 months. And I have been there for hours almost every day during this period. As such, I've had a bird's eye view of the facility, the procedures and most importantly the care my wife has received from the staff. Without exception, I can say that the staff has been incredibly kind and supportive of my wife and all others in the memory care unit. Caring for those with dementia and related issues is not easy and not for everyone. During these past months I never saw a staff member criticize, scoff, roll one's eyes or otherwise show disdain to a resident. My wife's condition continues to decline, and the staff has adjusted nicely to these changes. in fact, they've been quite creative in addressing unanticipated issues. I wholeheartedly recommend the Landings to you if you're looking at assisted living facilities in this area. And by the way, the management is hands on, the facilities are outstanding and the food is surprisingly good."

"My husband is at The Laurels of Pender. It is close by. It's the only one in Burgaw, really. He's had several operations on his leg. His last one didn't take that well and I cannot wait on him at home. He also has to go dialysis three times a week, and I cannot get him in a car and get him on places. The staff are friendly, nice, and most of them do their job. Sometimes you have one or two that don't, but most of them do their job. The food is not too good. It is just plain old hospital food, and they don't have much to choose from. They need better food there. The rooms are pretty big and nice. The facility is pretty well, too. This is the closest one to home so that is why we picked it."
