"My dad is here and it is a nice-looking place. There is a lake right behind it. The staff is really good. It’s independent living, and if my dad was able to take advantage of it, it would be wonderful for him. They have bingo just about everyday, and they have a card room. He has been there for about a year and a half now, and I have gotten to know a lot of the staff there. They’re really good folks. The food is good. The activities that they provide and the support for the residents are outstanding really. They are really top of the line. I wish my dad was able to take advantage of the many things there. For my dad, it is not just a good fit, but they provide so much there."

"My mom has been in independent living at Cambridge Village of Wilmington for three years now. Her overall experience here has been very good. The community offers a lot of amenities, and you could take part in all of them. There's something here for everybody. Her room is beautiful. It's a very large one-bedroom with a balcony. For the most part, the pandemic has put a strain on everything. Maintenance maybe is not as quick as it used to be or housekeeping. It's just because of hiring and people being available for the jobs, but I wouldn't blame on Cambridge Village. I think everything is suffering from that. When I've eaten there, I've had a good experience. Sometimes, the food isn't served as hot as it could be or it's a little too salty or spicy. It's an aging community, so it might be too much for them, but they try. They are willing to listen and make adjustments. They have an indoor pool, everyday constant activities, games, bingo, they have a bus that will take them to the store or the beach, or they'll have social nights out. There's a lot. The calendar is full. You could go from morning till night. They have a movie theater and religious services. You can partake in a lot here. The staff members are all very nice. They're stressed a little bit sometimes and understaffed a little bit sometimes, but that's just the current situation right now. They're trying their best. It's quite expensive here."

"Arbor Landing at Compass Pointe was a beautiful and brand-new facility. They have a very large apartment. It's very impressive. The dining area was substantial and it felt like an upscale hotel. I had nothing negative to say about it. It's just the price. It was out of our budget. Libby was the one that gave us the tour and she was great. She knew all the residents' names as they passed by. They were very social and very kind."

"Arbor Landing at Hampstead was wonderful and had a wonderful staff. It was rather expensive and they had no pool and we do cardio in a pool, so that was one of our requisites. They have cards, the usual board games, and a lovely dining room. They have a studio, 1- and 2-bedrooms, and they're gorgeous. The studio was just very tiny. The 1-bedroom was lovely, had a great size closet, and the bathrooms were senior-operated. All these things were great and beautiful. The greetings were always there, and you weren't ignored. When we got there, they were having lunch, and it was lovely the way it was served and was presented. The staff also interacted with the people, which was nice."

"I toured Trinity Landing for independent living. The apartments are absolutely stunning and spacious. It's fairly new. It only opened a few years ago. It has quite a lengthy waiting list. It's near the coast, and you can drive to a separate parking area and view the water. It's not ocean side; it's a river inlet. They have everything with the independent living contained in one building. They have a central courtyard. Down the road, they have two-story homes. There are people in their 60s when they move there. All their activities and amenities are contained within the building. It's a four-square with the courtyard in the middle. We did not see a pool, but that doesn't mean they didn't have one. I have friends who live there, so they actually gave us the tour. We also spoke with the financial person before we left. It's a pricier area to move into. It takes a larger entrance fee, and the monthly rent is in the $6,000 range, depending on the apartment. We ate with our friends, and they took us to one of the on-campus dining areas. They have an interesting meal plan. You can cook some of your own, you can dine out at one of the eateries on the campus, and then you use your vouchers. They give you meal vouchers. You can pick and choose how you use your voucher. It's interesting. You get a new allotment every month. They sometimes save up their vouchers and cash them in at the end of the month for various items. By the way, the food was excellent. We had a sandwich and a salad. It was restaurant-style service."
