The Best Independent Living Communities in Georgetown County, SC

"It was my mother's first choice because it had a living room area with a little dining area and a separate bedroom. You could even have a little balcony or a little patio. But it was a retirement home, so if you needed medical assistance or whatever, you contract that with an outside agency. They were having a Bingo game, they do exercises, and you could either watch or you could sit and participate. They had a couple of guests there, and they said, "If you have to be away from home, this is the place to be." Their dining room was gorgeous. "

"My mother is in independent living here. We are very happy with Indigo. Beautiful apartments, scheduled activities, nice pool and small exercise area. There is a card room, a craft room, a tv room and several small library type rooms scattered around. There is a bistro with happy hour before dinner. They do some trips to local productions and restaurants. There are a few kinks to be worked out as with any place that is so new. The food is above average but it not fine dining. There are always many choices which is a big plus. I think if they improved the food this place would be a solid A. The wait staff is excellent. "

"What a great place for Mom! The first thing I noticed was that not only did the folks working there seemed happy and liked their jobs, the residents all looked happy. There was always something to do and someone to do it with. Food transitioned a few times to better service and better meals. Management meets with the residents and even listens to how they can make it better. When Mom transitioned to assisted living, the process was seamless and painless. I always felt like Mom was safe and cared for. A resident isn’t just a room number. Administration, management, reception, maintenance and everyone else knew residents by name and what was going on with them. Terrific facility and staff."

"For ten years we have been residents. It took us only a couple of days to know we had made the right decision. A small community making it possible to know everyone, wonderful and interesting residents. a caring, friendly, capable staff, - what more could we ever have wished for? Last July a fall and fractured hip meant surgery followed some months later by a second surgery. Suddenly there was another plus for us as a couple. One could be in the Skilled Nursing Facility doing therapy and the other had only to jump into a golf cart so as to eat meals together and watch Sunday football! Living in a Continuing Care Facility paid off years before we thought we would ever need it. Now we both are at home once again enjoying the many activities and being back in the dining room enjoying the great food. "

"We toured the Magnolia Bridge at Murrells Inlet. The two people who took us on the tour were good. They were okay, but they were rushed. We didn't see much at all. We did see one apartment, but everything about that was older. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it's newer, but it didn't seem that way. We did not like it as much as the others. It was in a separate building. You go outside to that, and maybe there was nothing available inside the main building, but she'd told us beforehand that she just had a limited amount of time. So, we did not see as much as we saw at the other one. The atmosphere was okay. It was good. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't up to the quality and the atmosphere of others. The halls were narrow, whereas the others were wide and spacious."

"Garden Manor had small apartments. There was a library and a small place in the back where you could plant flowers. They served one nice big meal a day. If you wanted something for later in the evening, you could get a box of food to take with you. They would come and clean once a week. They went on trips for shopping in a van. It was just what I needed. The people were very nice, very friendly, and outgoing. "
