"We went to Southern Pines Gracious Retirement Living and toured it. For the two-bedroom unit, it's nearly $6000, and that's not in our price range. We really like it, and so we're trying to figure out how to squeeze pennies out of lemonade, but that's just too pricey. The property where it is located is very, very nice. There are very luscious trees and all that, and it kind of sits up on a hill. I think the location is excellent. The two units that we looked at were very nice and well-kept. We had lunch there, and we met some people in the dining room area, and so forth, and it was a delightful conversation with everybody. Everybody seemed very happy there, but in the long run, it was not cost-effective for us. I was very impressed with it, but it was out of our price range, that's all. It was very clean, everybody was friendly, and it is a very nice upscale area there. The staff was very friendly and personable. I personally didn't like the food. There was nothing wrong with it. It was like some ravioli with red sauce on, but the sauce was so thick you couldn't even see the ravioli. I think they had cooked onions or something. It was a strange combo. You could get a hot dog, though, so I turned in pasta and got a hot dog. It was just too much, and that kind of food for lunch was way too heavy for me."

"We will be moving my mom to Pine Knoll within the month. I liked this community. All the employees were very friendly and it was a very welcoming facility. The room that I saw was very neat and clean, and we were happy with it. I liked their common areas. They had a sanctuary there that we liked, too. They had a library and it was nicely laid out with a couple of sitting areas. They also had outdoor spaces that allowed people to be able to walk the grounds. All of those things were very nice."

"We liked Belle Meade because of its location. Also, we've heard nothing but good things about the place. I knew a lot of people who've had their parents there, and everybody seems to like it. It's a nice place to be. The staff were real nice and accommodating. They have a pool, a library, a chapel, and an exercise area."

"I was at St. Joseph of the Pines for a tour. They offered everything that my mother needed and everything that she wanted. They would give her her own apartment, and it's nice. I think it's a beautiful place. I like it all. The staff was super helpful. They were very kind people. The staff gave me menus and stuff like that, and it was nice. The rooms were super nice. You could fit a king-sized bed in there and other things, too. The place was super clean as well."
