"My mother has been at Spring Arbor since August, and so far, it has been really nice. They have very good food. I don't have any complaints. They have a lot of activities for the people there. They give her more hands-on care and they make sure she gets her meals. It is clean and doesn't stink. It is something within her price range. I would recommend this place. "

"The one that really stood out to me was Atria Southpoint Walk. The staff was very nice. The rooms were a nice size with a fully equipped kitchen and had a lot of storage including walk-in closets. What I found that I liked best was that it was called either a village or cottage that has a garage, and the community fee was reasonable. The food was very good, and the menu was good. Anything that you want to do is there. They have transportation to various places, housekeeping with linen washing and personal laundry, and they also have the washer and dryer hook-up in each room, so you don't have go down the hall. When they clean the room every two weeks, I think the help changes your bed and washes your linen. It was just very nice. They don't actually provide the washer and dryer, they have the hookup and you could provide your own washer and dryer. They have a full-size kitchen, plus you get two meals a day, and they have a salad bar. They provide flexible transportation, a doctor that makes house calls, and a front desk staffed 24 hours a day. They didn't have a pool, but they said that they could arrange for water aerobics. "

"TerraBella Hillsborough had very polite people, and the place was very clean. Everybody was glad to help me no matter what I was doing in any way they could. They were easy to talk with. They responded to my questions and my phone calls right away. They could take care of my father's needs. The room I went to had a bed, a real nice shower, and a big closet. It was more like a studio. They got music, religious stuff, bingo, a library, and a big dining room where people can sit at the tables and eat. They help bring them in if they need help to be brought in. They had their amenities and activities all posted on the bulletin. They've been very helpful. They said if I had any problems, to please contact them. I didn't go over the whole area, but the part I saw was laid out well."

"I went to Brookdale MacArthur Park for my mother. Right now, it would be the first on our list because of its proximity to our house. We thought it was very nice. The people there were very nice. It seemed to be very nice. All the residents were very friendly. The scale of the community was very nice. It was not overwhelming. It was just like walking into your living room. It was really nice that way. It seemed like the food was OK. The residents were active, and friendly. They were very nicely invested in the residents. The room was fine for my mother. Everything was small. "

"Reserve at Mills Farm is a brand-new facility, but a little more homey. It's rustic. The grounds have a pond nearby. It's very close to facilities like grocery stores and Costco. It's only three levels, and they move from independent living to memory care as well. I really liked their memory care concept, which is like cabins. You share a common area in a cabin with five other people, but you have individual rooms, so your staff ratio is very small. They have at least two to one person per patient or resident in the memory care. I really liked the staff ratio. I liked the pod concept instead of individual rooms down a long hallway. You're in a circular cabin, and you just come out into a common area when you want to be out and have your meals and so forth. It has a cozier effect. What I liked about these pods is that they are ranch-style with gardens around them, so they give you a feeling of safety without realizing that you can't wander out of the area. It's almost like a little home. They had a hairdresser onsite. They had a pharmacy onsite, so you could transfer all of your medicines to their pharmacy, and everything could be done in-house. All of the staff members were very caring, nice, and accommodating. They had a big community dining hall and a very nicely furnished ground floor, so you could walk out onto the patio."

"Home Place of Burlington is a well-run, excellent facility because of the quality of services that the staff exhibits, their professionalism, and the oversight by the executive director. The community is clean, well lit and upbeat. They have a social director that does a very good job with the residents. I have observed and even participated in some of their activities. "

"We had a good and informative visit to Brookdale Burlington. The lady who showed us some of the building was very, very nice. She offered a lot of information, was so friendly with the residents, and made us all welcome even though we were just looking. It has a full bathroom, and the one that we looked at was the medium size, which had two closets, because it could be a two-person bedroom. It had pull strings to alert the staff if there was a problem. They have two of those in the bedroom and one in the bathroom. It also has its own heating and air-conditioning unit. It was very nice, clean, and freshly painted, and you can hang your own pictures."

"Sunrise of Cary was a larger facility. They seemed to have a lot more activities going on and I felt they had a wider range to offer to me because there were like 33 residents from memory care. Price-wise, they were about the same as the others. The person that gave the tour was very informative and very engaging in trying to provide a solution. They seemed to have more options on a room setup, but on the downside, they only had two small patio areas."

"TerraBella Asheboro was beautiful and very clean. They were friendly, very informative, and compassionate because some of them had gone through the same thing. I got to meet the people who were staying there and they were very happy. The rooms were decorated nicely. Each person could decorate however they wanted their room to be decorated. It was very nice and clean. I loved the way the bathroom was set up. Each person has their own bathroom, which is nice. It gives them more privacy. I liked that, and the fact that it would be a private room instead of a semi-private. That makes a big deal, especially since my sister wants to bring her cats with her. That would make it a whole lot easier to have her cats with her."

"We are very satisfied with Spring Arbor of Cary. They were very responsive to our request for a tour to see the facilities and to meet with the staff, and they were able to get my mom in very quickly. They've been very responsive to our questions or phone calls about how she's doing on any particular day. They do music therapy, chair yoga, and they have a walking club there. They also went to a Cinco de Mayo event recently."

"I visited Heartfields at Cary. I am rating them highly because their back deck was closed, so my dad would not be able to wander off from it. They had lots of activities and great food as well. "

"It has great surroundings and a quiet neighborhood -- the place to go for walks -- and it is a clean place. The staff people were very friendly. It was spacious and very adequate for my wife. She has Alzheimer's, and in some places we visited, they group people together for slideshows and whatever like a bunch of cattle, and I don't think they do that at Woodland Terrace. "

"My mom moved into Brookdale Asheboro. She needs more help than what she's able to get there. She's not getting as much physical therapy as I would like, which is my only regret so far. They help her out, watch her closely, and are available when she needs them. They seem to be very knowledgeable and experienced. They offer happy hour a couple times a week. My mom's room is more of an apartment with no kitchen in it."
