"I visited Holiday Durham Regent, and I liked the options that they have. It's kind of like an apartment complex with one-level cottages right across their main building. You have an option to have your own home that is fully equipped with a kitchen, washer and dryer, and a refrigerator. It has everything that you would want in your home. It has a living area, two bedrooms, two baths, and large closets. They also have a similar setup right in the main building where you don't have a washer and dryer but they can do your laundry for free, and a kitchenette type of thing, but without a stove or anything that is flammable. The staff was nice, very kind, and had a great attitude"

"I really like the manager at Jordan Oaks, and I just like the community as a whole -- the size of it, the features, and the benefits that they offer. I really liked the size of their apartments. So far, it is good. It is the staff and the services there. Everyone has been great, and I love the on-site therapy that they offer. My mother complains about the food sometimes, but that may be just her and not necessarily the food. "

"My mother stays at Woodland Terrace in Cary. It is a large, beautiful retirement community. Her apartment is similar to a mini-house. Mom's apartment is spaciously designed with living room, bedroom, and kitchen with all appliances. Mom is served healthy meals by waitstaff in the dining room. I've eaten meals there and I can vouch for the quality of food served. However, mom sometimes complains that it would be nice to have more variety. Perhaps kitchen chefs could try changing the menu more frequently. Woodlance Terrace has 22 acres of land with a small pond, and they offer residents (and guests) the opportunity to play Putt-Putt golf on the grounds. Mom especially enjoys walking the paved trail around the community. She has made many friends, and it's not the typical retirement crowd of folks who sit around watching TV all day long. Residents are active with planned activities, social events, exercise, games and monthly outings. The employees seem to genuinely care about the residents, and I can highly recommend Woodland Terrace. "

"My sister was previously in Stoneridge Gracious Retirement Living. It seemed to be an excellent facility with a beautiful dining room, and lots of room for different activities. They played games, my sister had a great time in the evenings, the food was good, and the management was good. She had a single room to herself and didn't have any major complaints. She was able to do her laundry with the washing machines, everything was conveniently located for her throughout the facility. I found the staff to be perfectly professional at all times at any time I asked them a question. It was a lovely facility, but there were some questions about the food."

"I visited The Cambridge at Brier Creek. They are excellent. It was very high class and very nice. They're welcoming. The young lady who showed us around was just excellent and gave us all the time we needed. The building is a couple of years old, so basically it's new. The apartments have very nice touches to them, like wood floors and up-to-date appliances. It's nice, fresh, and light. They have amenities. They have an exercise person onsite every day, and they have health care. It's just very nice. They have movies and all kinds of things to do."

"The lady who gave me a tour of Independence Village Of Olde Raleigh was very knowledgeable about the property. It was clean. It seemed like they were keeping the people in a lot of activities, and I thought that was great. The rooms were good sized. They were not too big, but they had a couple of options. I feel like it was enough for what's needed. They also showed me a couple of courtyards. They had a hair salon, and they had a physical therapy room or workout room. They showed me the game room and the church or multimedia room for movies."

"I went to Capital Oaks yesterday. It was a nice environment. The room that I went into was perfectly big enough, clean, and provided all our needs. The dining area was perfect. It was a nice, friendly social atmosphere. Everything was clean. They have Zumba, exercise classes, a movie theater, group tours, games, and reading. They have a library for reading. Those are the things that I like. The staff that I met were friendly. They responded to my questions. The director was very friendly and very open."

"We enjoyed Cedar Ridge a whole lot and were impressed with it. The tour was very well done, and we were impressed with the person who took us on the tour. He was wonderful. The apartment we saw had been vacated and redone, and it was very nice. The facility was well-done and well-presented."

"My aunt lived here for almost fifteen years. She started in a assisted-living apartment and enjoyed her independence and freedom to move around and personalize her apartment. She could attend art classes, her own meals, and socialize with other apartment dwellers. After about nine years, and a series of blackouts (quickly tended to by the superb staff), she moved to the nursing home unit. She still had an individual private room, but much more monitored care. This was a superb facility, that allows seniors to adapt into a new environment. My parents and I really struggled with the decision and finding a home for her, but we ultimately decided on Abbottswood, because it was a great combination of retirement and nursing facilities. They have an onsite pharmacy, doctors of all specialities and even buses offsite to Walmart and Rite-Aid. All around, Abbottswood is a great facility that I would definitely recommend! "

"I went to Twin Rivers Independent Senior Community. It was nice, the apartments could be a little bigger, but it's alright. The staff was good. The outdoor area was nice, it's right downtown, and it's secure."

"I think Galloway Ridge has only been open for six years, and the facilities are beautiful. They have a movie theater, plays, and tons of things. The place was absolutely fabulous, and you can imagine that it's absolutely expensive. The room was beatuful. It was big and had everything you would want -- full kitchen and everything. The entry fee started at $285,000 and went to $1.1 million, and the monthly fees were from $3,500 to $5,300. They treated us well, and the sales person was very nice. He showed us lots of things and gave us lots of information. We had lunch, and it was nice. "

"I have been a resident of this fine community for seven years, and I welcome the opportunity to review it for interested retirees and their families. I truly believe that this facility is one of the best in the Southeast. It has a beautiful 160 acre campus, gracious and spacious villas and apartments, in addition to a beautifully decorated Assisted Living facility which offers apartments for singles or couples, and a nursing facility with excellent medical care for those who need skilled nursing. The food is outstanding, and the dining room immaculate, decorated charmingly and providing a lovely atmosphere for leisurely dining. The wellness program is outstandingl with many exercise classes, a large and well equipped fitness center, and a skilled and friendly staff. This not-for -profit community is owned by the residents, who take a very active role in program and committees. But the major joy of everyday life here is this: the residents themselves who are mostly highly educated, very sociable, and active in the community. There are varied and high-level cultural activities, including lectures, concerts, discussions and classes. All in all, the residents feel incredibly grateful to be living their later years in this wonderful community. "

"We chose The Cedars because it was brand new at that time and the nursing home was just in walking distance from us. When my husband was ill, I could walk or take the car and I could visit him every day. It was a wonderful place and it had a beautiful campus and a wonderful dining room. We bought a condo there. We had a two bedroom with a beautiful view of the pond and fountains. The Cedars has lots of walking areas. They had a lot of activities like free transportation within 12 miles into doctors’ offices or shopping malls. If you couldn’t make it to the dining room they would pick you up. The food was excellent. They have lectures, programs and exercise classes. I like best the residents, they were a highly educated group of people. The staff was also very helpful and very personable.
