"Cambridge Village of Apex was very clean, very modern, and very helpful. All our questions were answered. They were very transparent. The residents were very, very happy. Their rooms were gorgeous. The grounds were gorgeous, too. Everything about it was very nice and very new. We didn't interact with a lot of the general staff, but the young lady who took us around, the front desk, and then a couple of the folks there were very nice and very helpful."

"Woodland Terrace was great. The rooms were quite large. The facility was newer and kind of modern. It looked inviting. It had everything, from independent living to assisted living to memory care, which means that your loved one wouldn't have to be transferred to another place. The costs were also reasonable. They have a pool, a gym, and a hairdresser's place (that's for the independent living, but then it's for the assisted living people, too.) Their rooms were right near the nursing station and they were quite large, too. The people just seemed nice."

"My aunt was in Stoneridge Gracious Retirement Living. They were absolutely fantastic, and I hate that they didn't have one down here. It's just a few years old. The staff is phenomenal. They do bingo, and they do movie night, so I think they've quite a few, a decent amount. They're extremely responsive and caring. It's one of the most cost effective places around. There's a 3% increase in the rent."

"Jordan Oaks Gracious Retirement Living was very nice, but I don't think it was as nice as the other place. Everything was pretty close together. The apartments were nice as well, but you cannot have a stove in your apartment. The apartment has a small refrigerator, a sink, and a little kitchenette. The staff who toured us was nice, but I felt like there was a lot of interruption at that place. If the door had been shut, there wouldn't have been as much interruption, but she was good at explaining it and taking us around. They had patios. There's a very nice scenery as far as the way it looked in the back of it where you would lounge or whatever on the patio."

"My aunt lived here for almost fifteen years. She started in a assisted-living apartment and enjoyed her independence and freedom to move around and personalize her apartment. She could attend art classes, her own meals, and socialize with other apartment dwellers. After about nine years, and a series of blackouts (quickly tended to by the superb staff), she moved to the nursing home unit. She still had an individual private room, but much more monitored care. This was a superb facility, that allows seniors to adapt into a new environment. My parents and I really struggled with the decision and finding a home for her, but we ultimately decided on Abbottswood, because it was a great combination of retirement and nursing facilities. They have an onsite pharmacy, doctors of all specialities and even buses offsite to Walmart and Rite-Aid. All around, Abbottswood is a great facility that I would definitely recommend! "

"Whispering Pines Gracious Retirement Living was nice. Everything is included in one price. The food's very nice. The staff was also very nice. They gave me a proper tour and I enjoyed it. They had one bedroom, two bedrooms, and studios. They had quite a number of activities and of course, they all had gyms. They take some trips if you want to go to close facilities like grocery stores."

"We toured Holiday Cedar Ridge. We had a great visit. We met with Sienna. She was very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and very friendly. She answered all of our questions and took us around. She showed us the facilities which had just recently been completely remodeled and were beautiful. She listened to what exactly we were looking for, for our parents, and she said she had apartments that would be available in a month or so that would suit our needs. We went to it, and that was exactly what we were looking for. We were very impressed when she told us about the maintenance and the staff that has been there for ten-plus years. So maintenance turnover and staff turnover are very low which is very impressive. They had chair railings, which I thought were wonderful because we're surprised how many facilities don't have the handrails to hold on to. It was very clean and organized, and it was not cluttered with too many things. We're just very pleased with that."

"We like the quality of Cedars of Chapel Hill. The facility was large enough. We liked the larger size apartments. They have a theater, a chapel, and a banquet room. They have a lot of outside trips, and people come in and do shows or concerts. They have limited space for planning your vegetable garden and two ponds. They are going to have a bird area where you can do bird watching."

"We will be moving into Azalea Estates Gracious Retirement Living. We liked it a lot, and it's eight minutes from my son. The employees there were so very wonderful to us, helping us, staying in touch, and keeping us involved in what was going on. We had lunch there, and the food was great. I liked the fact that it's close to my son, it's close to the public library, and it's close to the Y. It's a very convenient location. Everything was clean and neat. They do your sheets, and they make your beds. Everything, as far as upkeep, looked wonderful. We didn't see any problems there. Most of their apartments are one-bedroom, but there are lots of different one-bedroom sizes. We took the first available one-bedroom, and if it turns out that we're not comfortable in that one-bedroom, they'll let us know when other things come up. They will move us, and we can change with no problem. The one we're moving into, I think, was a manager's apartment at one time. It has a full kitchen and a washer and dryer, but they have the community washer and dryer too. We're probably more likely to use the community washer and dryer because we can take two or three loads down there and get it all done at one time and be done with it. I'm sure there are others that have bigger gyms, but for what we would need, this is pretty good. The only thing my husband wishes they had was a swimming pool. They have outdoor gardens where you can have little gardening areas, and they have like a putting green. I thought the facilities were pretty good. We have our own kitchen, but if you want to go and cook something, they have a kitchen for you to do it in. The apartment we wanted was 932 square feet or something like that, and the one we actually got is 700. So, it's considerably smaller, but it's got a huge, beautiful porch where we can put a coffee table and some chairs, and it's covered, and it's bigger than anything I've seen in any of the other ones. It's on the third floor. It's just really nice. The staff has been great to us. I can't say anything bad about them whatsoever. We've only had one meal there, and my husband thought it was a five. I love liver and onions, and they had liver and onions, so I was happy. They had chicken for him, and he thought it was good."

"Overture Chapel Hill has a lot of activities almost every day, they have something all the time that's going on. It's about five floors, have three elevators there, a little community area, a swimming pool and they have a barbecue grill. As far as activity and things like that, their community room was a little smaller than the other places. They have different types of rooms, different layouts, and floor plans you can choose from. I like it very much. I toured different ones and this one is a little bit smaller than other places, it's more laid back."

"Overture Chapel Hill is a very friendly independent living community. The staff is also very good, and I don't have any complaints. From what I saw during my tour, the upkeep was good, and it looks brand new. The place was very clean."
