"Capital Oaks is brand new. I met the staff and the residents, and everyone was congenial and friendly. I just like the place. What I like best is the attitude of the staff and management team. They are there to help us. Everyone is happy here. The food is good; they can make a sandwich, and they have a big salad bar. "

"We went to tour Whispering Pines Gracious Retirement Living and it was just a good experience. I thought it was really very pretty. There are old trees and the setting was very pretty. They had nice grounds. The residents had developed gardens in their front yards, which I thought looked nice. It felt very welcoming. We saw lots of interaction among people in the halls, people in the dining room, people doing all sorts of things, and sitting outside talking. It just felt like it promoted community living well. Their concept is you have an apartment there and as you age, you have care in your apartment. You don't have to move to another part of the facility as you need a higher level of care. We saw their library, the dining room, and the movie theater. The residents seemed happy and animated. It was appealing from my point of view. There's nobody to meet you at the front desk. There's no front desk. And so, I had to go look for people to talk to because there was nobody. They don't have a concierge or a central welcoming station. "

"Stoneridge Gracious Retirement Living was a very nice place. They had lots of activities. The problem is that I can't afford it. It's like $2900 a month. The staff were very nice and very helpful. I looked at a studio room. For activities, they have cornhole, billiards, and lots of games that they play. They take the people occasionally out, too. They had a salon where you could get haircuts and whatnot. They had three meals a day and snacks, but I didn't try their meals."

"Reserve at Mills Farm was like going into a five-star hotel resort. It's like you're on vacation, so if a person does that kind of lifestyle, likes to go on vacation or a luxury type stuff, that's where you'd go. It's a very nice, elaborate facility. It just did not fit my mother-in-law, because she'd rather be at home than to be on vacation all the time. Their rooms were single living and they have very nice furniture. Everything's included. They have an en suite type bathroom. In the open area, they have a living area with a fireplace, an activity area, kitchen, dining, and a nurse's station. In the middle, there's a courtyard that looks like a traditional English garden. They have it confined to where memory care residents could mingle with the ones that are on the other side. So, it's just like one little community where each of them have their own living space. The lady that took us around was very informative and very nice. She reached out several times to check on my mother-in-law and to see how we were."

"My Dad absolutely loved Woodland Terrace. The staff is friendly and truly cares about getting to know the residents on a personal level. The amenities offered to all residents are set up with care and safety for everyone. I have to say Dad’s favorite part was the amazing food. I think meals were the best part of his day. Daily activities and exercise were always planned with the residents ability in mind. From the entire staff knowing Dad’s name, the warm greetings he received all day, Dad was always treated with respect. When he fell I was contacted immediately and professional help was called in. My brothers and I were very comfortable with the care and safety that was provided. I highly recommend Woodland Terrace in Cary for your loved one. It was a wonderful experience. "

"My mother is at Brookdale. She has been there probably three and a half years to four years now. Brookdale is very nice. It is clean. The lobby is very nice. I've eaten there quite a bit, and the food is decent. The apartments are nice. They're average size. My mother has a one-bedroom, one-bath. It is adequate. It has a full kitchen. She is 90, so for her, it is just fine. The staff is very nice and very accommodating. They're really caring about the residents. They get involved with them. They do a lot of cook-offs -- e.g., like around the holidays, they'll do a pie contest and they'll do a chili cook-off. They do a lot of different things. The dining room is very clean and very spacious. The food is adequate. They have the beauty parlor. They have the in-house doctor that they can call and come in. I'm impressed by the general layout of the location. It is convenient to where my sister lives. Security seems adequate. "

"The rooms were large enough for my mother, and some apartments have porches which are very nice. The area behind the buildings has a pond and is beautiful. The dining is like a restaurant, and the staff was very accommodating. My picky mother loved the dining here. The staff was caring and helpful, even when my mother would be in one of her fits. I moved my mother because she wanted to be a little closer to her old neighborhood. Big mistake. Cambridge was a great value and mother was happy here. I did not realize how difficult to please she was until after she left Cambridge. The only minus I have is that they are only Independent Living and do not have Assisted to move to when the time comes. I have had parents at other facilities in the area and have visited almost all facilities in town. This one is a gem. "

"My aunt is at Jordan Oaks and so far, so good. They've been very patient. The food is good. Her room is nice and the grounds are nice. They have an activity room and a chapel, but nothing really outstanding."

"I moved into The Lodge at Wake Forest a week ago. The experience has been very, very good. The residents are very, very nice. The staff has been wonderful. I chose it because it was close to where my son lives, and I had heard real good reviews. Also, the price was a little bit lower than some of the others. The food is excellent. They're doing some renovations and updates right now. What they are doing is beautiful. They have activities and amenities every day. I have not been able yet to take part in any, but I plan to in the future. They have bingo and volleyball. They have the Wii. They have a chapel. They have services. They have movie nights. It's just a variety of things. Plus, they have their bus. They'll take you wherever you need to go. They have a day for shopping for all things that you need."

"What I like the best about The Joyce is the location. What I like the least is the outside noise level because the freeway is right outside my window. And I don't like the fact that there are amenities that they say we're supposed to have that we do not have access to. The residents do not have access to the media room and the community lounge. It is limited to when we can use it. It's not open on the weekends. It's not open unless the office is open. It's not even ours. It's basically for management to have meetings. Their meetings take priority over the residents. They have board games. At Thanksgiving, they had dinner, and at Christmas, they had a dinner, but that's it. The rooms are nice, roomy, and comfortable, but the noise problem is the problem. We're right across the street from the freeway. There's no dining area. The only dining area would be the community room where you can go in and have coffee and tea, but we're limited as to if and when we can even go in the room. We're told that we are monitored and if we go in too often, then our access will be taken away. Parking is another issue as well."
