"Abbotswood at Stonehenge is my mother's choice, but she hasn't moved in yet. It seems they have a very active program, and that interests her. She likes the look and feel of it, and also the apartment itself. Her's will have two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchenette. Their activities include bingo, puzzles, card games, trips to a lot of places, movie and a popcorn night. The other thing that was an interest to her is the religious services. "

"Capital Oaks was brand-new, it was very nice, and it was beautiful. There were a lot of people in the lobby, and they're all well-dressed and looked happy. It was more upscale, and out of my budget."

"My mother is at Whispering Pines. It is beautiful. It's spacious, brand new, and bright. Activities are just great. Food is great. Transportation is wonderful. I love the place. It's great. They would show current movies. The place is very current, and that's what I love about it. The artwork is beautiful. They have bright colors everywhere. It has pretty carpeting. It smells good. It really is a wonderful place. The management teams are great. They're very upbeat people. They're very easy to work with. I really like the management team too. My mother has been there for three weeks now. "

"My aunt has moved into Independence Village of Olde Raleigh. She got a studio apartment, which is very nice. It does not have an oven, but it has a refrigerator and stovetop, and she has the microwave that she took. It's not furnished, which is great, that way they take their own furniture. Lots of people have just retired there. They have studios, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedrooms. They have a washer and dryer that the residents can use, and there's a maid service once a week that changes and washes the sheets for the residents. They serve three meals a day down in the cafeteria. It's very nice, and they have activities during the week, and different things. I had a really good meal there, but I understand from the residents, some of the food they don't like at all, and some they do. The staff were very nice. They were playing a movie when I was there, in their theater room. They also have some church services and Bible study groups. There's a piano in the dining room, and sometimes someone comes in to play the piano and sing. They play cards, there are bridge clubs in there, and they have activities where they make things. It takes up almost all of her money, but I think it's well worth it. A person would need to pay for their own telephone or TV services."

"Stoneridge Gracious Retirement Living was a very nice place. They had lots of activities. The problem is that I can't afford it. It's like $2900 a month. The staff were very nice and very helpful. I looked at a studio room. For activities, they have cornhole, billiards, and lots of games that they play. They take the people occasionally out, too. They had a salon where you could get haircuts and whatnot. They had three meals a day and snacks, but I didn't try their meals."

"Reserve at Mills Farm was like going into a five-star hotel resort. It's like you're on vacation, so if a person does that kind of lifestyle, likes to go on vacation or a luxury type stuff, that's where you'd go. It's a very nice, elaborate facility. It just did not fit my mother-in-law, because she'd rather be at home than to be on vacation all the time. Their rooms were single living and they have very nice furniture. Everything's included. They have an en suite type bathroom. In the open area, they have a living area with a fireplace, an activity area, kitchen, dining, and a nurse's station. In the middle, there's a courtyard that looks like a traditional English garden. They have it confined to where memory care residents could mingle with the ones that are on the other side. So, it's just like one little community where each of them have their own living space. The lady that took us around was very informative and very nice. She reached out several times to check on my mother-in-law and to see how we were."

"My Dad absolutely loved Woodland Terrace. The staff is friendly and truly cares about getting to know the residents on a personal level. The amenities offered to all residents are set up with care and safety for everyone. I have to say Dad’s favorite part was the amazing food. I think meals were the best part of his day. Daily activities and exercise were always planned with the residents ability in mind. From the entire staff knowing Dad’s name, the warm greetings he received all day, Dad was always treated with respect. When he fell I was contacted immediately and professional help was called in. My brothers and I were very comfortable with the care and safety that was provided. I highly recommend Woodland Terrace in Cary for your loved one. It was a wonderful experience. "

"My mother is at Brookdale. She has been there probably three and a half years to four years now. Brookdale is very nice. It is clean. The lobby is very nice. I've eaten there quite a bit, and the food is decent. The apartments are nice. They're average size. My mother has a one-bedroom, one-bath. It is adequate. It has a full kitchen. She is 90, so for her, it is just fine. The staff is very nice and very accommodating. They're really caring about the residents. They get involved with them. They do a lot of cook-offs -- e.g., like around the holidays, they'll do a pie contest and they'll do a chili cook-off. They do a lot of different things. The dining room is very clean and very spacious. The food is adequate. They have the beauty parlor. They have the in-house doctor that they can call and come in. I'm impressed by the general layout of the location. It is convenient to where my sister lives. Security seems adequate. "

"Atria Oakridge has a more traditional style of decor. It's an older place but it was a cozy feeling. The apartment was very nice, it's pretty roomy with good storage. There were a lot of areas to go walking around there and there was medical stuff right across the place, so we like that. It wasn't located right on a busy road, it was a little bit set back. The staff there was very nice and very accommodating. They had all the appliances in the rooms already, washer and dryer hookups, refrigerator, and microwave. It seemed like the appliances in Atria were larger than the ones in the other place I toured. The person who gave the tour was wonderful. She was very, very nice, low-pressure, and very helpful, I couldn't say enough nice things about her. We had a meal there, it was very good. They also have staff 24/7 there."

"The Aspens at Bedford Falls is brand new and will offer the services we need at a price that we can afford. We'll have all the modern amenities like kitchen, dishwasher, and washing machines in the apartment, but they don't offer three meals a day. The staff has been very nice. It's right off of the Falls of Neuse Road. It's set back far enough that the traffic noise will be minimal, and the apartment locations that we can choose are in the rear of the building, which are even further away from the road."

"Cambridge Village of Apex's facilities are dependent on the care coming to the client. They don't move them to assisted living. I liked the apartments, and the place is updated. They have a wellness center and a heated pool. I liked the fact that they had a lot of classes, exercise, and water activities. I just wished their apartments were more open with a patio and more natural light. "

"My aunt is at Jordan Oaks and so far, so good. They've been very patient. The food is good. Her room is nice and the grounds are nice. They have an activity room and a chapel, but nothing really outstanding."

"I visited and it was a lovely place, but it's too far for my family. They got some nice staff and they have some nice rooms. The apartments have balcony. They are comfortable. They have transportation and exercise classes."
