"We toured Spring Arbor of Apex. It's a little older, but they have a nursing staff. Their program is good. It's a clean facility, and the staff was very pleasant. When I toured some of the things were getting renovated. People over there are happy. I have talked to some of the residents who were there a long time. They were sitting down in the front entrance. They sit there when it's nice and sunny, and they get together to see outside activities."

"I went to Heartfields, but it’s not within my price range. They had very nice rooms, and the memory care area was very nice. It had a homey feel, even though it had a modern exterior. Everyone was friendly; I could tell the marketing representative actually knew the patients and the employees. It’s a very close knit place. "

"Sunrise of Raleigh was beautiful. The girl who gave us the tour was very helpful, friendly, and warm. I was a little bit disappointed that we weren't able to see the memory care section, and it wasn't clear exactly why we weren't, but the rooms had plenty of space for one person. The other public areas were very inviting too, like where they eat or where they gather for activities. They had a very friendly resident dog, which was kind of nice, and there were protocols for checking our temperatures and asking us screening questions. That was all very thoroughly done. When you walk into the place, it's very grand. It didn't feel like a nursing home or a hospital setting. There are many small gathering areas. There was one area with a piano that residents can play. The dining room was big, it was comfortable, and it had a restaurant style to it."

"Just moved my mom into Atria so very new, but her apartment is wonderful - really fresh, clean and spacious and the staff and residents are so welcoming! We’re very excited to join the Atria community. "

"I placed my mother here almost a year ago and its been the best decision I have ever made. The staff are friendly and always helpful I can not say enough good things about them. It was hard to get my mother to leave her home but once she came to Morningside she adapted very easily. I love to visit her there everyone is always so happy to see me and if I need to speak to someone they are very quick to respond. I would recommend Morningside to anyone who is seeking a place for their Mom or Dad. "

"Springdaile Assisted Living was great. It was quiet and mostly clean. The people looked nice. The staff was nice. They have people that have Medicaid that they can come to. It was just a four-bedroom house. The room was nice, too. They had a deck that you could sit on and a ramp if you had a wheelchair."

"Carolina Reserve of Durham was a very nice community. The staff engaged with the residents. I like the activities that they have. During the time of my tour, they weren't doing any activities, but I saw different videos. The staff member who gave me the tour, she showed me videos of their different activities. I just liked that it was a more brighter type facility. They had it decorated very nicely for the holiday. It was a much brighter experience than the other facility. They weren't eating at the time, but the dining facility looked fine. Everything looked nice. The staff member was a very excited person. She really enjoyed her job. I really valued her opinion and her passion for being a caregiver. I liked her energy, and she had a lot of answers, and a lot of examples, and just showed me a lot. She was great."

"We toured Wynwood of Chapel Hill and we find the place beautiful. They have a classy and medieval look. We love the place. They have all the things that you will need. The residents look really happy and I had a chance to speak with one of the residents. She's been there for almost 10 years now. She said she really love living in Wynwood. It shows with all the people who live there. This is one of the greatest assisted living facilities that we visited. "

"We visited Sunrise at North Hills and that was our first choice, but because of some of my mother-in-law's medical conditions they were unable to admit her. The reason for our choice was the size of the room. She could have gotten a one-bedroom unit, which was much closer to what she had at home. Sunrise is a terrific facility; they're first class. I've had follow up phone calls from Jaime who's the director of admissions there just to find out how my mother-in-law was doing, and that's pretty extraordinary. It's an urban setting, and depending on the room locations there are trees and some natural surroundings there that are pleasant. It's convenient, centrally located, it's an updated facility, and it's a multi-story building with elevators. However, if there's an emergency, the elevator situation is a drawback I would consider. You walk in the door, the people greet you in a friendly fashion, they have a nice living room area with a fireplace, they have an open area for all types of drinks, and the rooms are well kept. They have several dining areas and that was a nice add-on also."

"I went to look at Brookdale Meadowmont. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The facility looked clean. It is an older building, so it could use some updating. The food was OK. They gave me a handout stating the activities of the day, but I didn't actually see any going on when I was there. The rooms are a pretty good size. The showers are not handicapped accessible. You couldn't drive a wheelchair in there because the showers were small."

"My father is in the memory care unit at Cadence North Raleigh. It was great and very helpful. I haven't tried the food. They had a couple of people who tested positive for Covid, and they put them in quarantine. They locked down the facility to visitors, so I wasn't allowed to go inside the facility. They were able to do admissions and discharges; but as far as visitation, I wasn't able to do that inside. Outside, I've been able to visit him a couple of times, so they brought him out of the facility. They made the admission so easy, smooth, and relatively quick. That was very impressive and very empathetic with the situation. I can't say enough good things about their staff. They're excellent, especially for memory care folks. They actually have a schedule, so that they have a consistent routine day after day. They take them out for activities and stuff. Of course, when they're on lockdown, they limit the activities until they lift it. They go into their rooms every day to do activities with them and talk to them. I asked him about the food, and he thought the food was very good. I worked with the director of customer relations the most in getting him into the facility."
