"My family lives in Burlington area and I don't want to move too far away, so the location of Village at Brookwood is quite convenient for me. My visit there was very informal but they were very courteous and showed me around the facility. The staff was very attentive to their residents. I only saw an apartment without furniture so it is hard to tell if the place is spacious enough, but I think it would do okay. They were also building some cottages. I looked at some of them and they were very nice. "

"Oak Creek Retirement wasn't really big of a facility. It was a little bit older though, but it was still nice. I thought it was a pretty nice place and very reasonable in its cost. It was definitely clean. It looked very good particularly around the cafeteria area. The cafeteria area was nice. We looked at one apartment and it was nice. It had a kitchen and everything that my mother would need. They were in the process of cleaning it for the next resident. It was already clean but they were repainting it and updating some of the fixtures and things in it. You could tell they were really doing a good maintenance on it. One of the problems with this facility though was that the laundry and all of that was on the level down from where all the apartments were. You would have to go downstairs to get to it but they don't have an elevator. However, the staff seemed very nice. The woman that we spoke to was very nice and answered all our questions. Also most of the residents there smiled and were very nice. They were talking and sitting together. They had a good group of activities at that time. "

"My mom was a resident for just over a year. Her room was quite nice and a good size, just having to share the bath with one roommate was really good. Mom loved the large window looking out to the trees where she loved bird watching most days. Felt like the number of residents was just right. The staff seemed to really care about the residents and worked well with our family. Nothing is perfect but felt like they did a great job! During this trying time of Covid, the residents were isolated and that did cause much stress on Mom, as she couldn't get out, but the staff really went out of their way to help us have video calls with mom. They seem to do a good job taking care of so many in their individual rooms. Mom enjoyed having her hair done at the on site shop. She seem to really enjoy the game times and other activities. The little garden area outside was a nice place to sit and enjoy the sunshine in the spring and fall."

"My Mom lived here for several years. This was the perfect place for her,as she was very independent and yet it still allowed her to feel safe and secure. She made some wonderful friends here,and enjoyed the daily socializing at meals. ( although the food could improve a bit,LOL!) . The Activity Director really strives to have a variety of activities available, and I think the residents have a lot of fun too! Overall, the staff was very kind, and responded quickly to requests. We would definitely recommend this to older adults looking for a nice place to live that they can also afford! "

"The care that you will receive at Twin Lakes is one of the best in the state of North Carolina and the best in the county. You couldn't ask for a better place for anybody to live. They also have an Alzheimer's unit and they have very good doctors. Some of the staff there had been there 15 or 20 years. They have a very stable staff. "

"I believe the top managers at the facility have little regard for the residents but are more concerned about the bottom line profits of the organization. They “nickel and dime” the residents for incidentals that drives up the cost of a residents stay. I don’t believe they build a relationship with the residents but only see them as paying customers. I wish they they had more compassion and concern for the people under their care. While the physical structure looks good there is an indifference of management that impacts the overall value of this place "

"Our experience having our father at The Carillon has been great. They have a lot of activities. They do bingo three days a week and it is staffed 24 hours a day at the front desk. They are very responsive and very personable. You can tell they put the residents as a priority. My father is in a one-bedroom unit with a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom, and a walk-in shower. So, it's roomy and just enough. They have different floor plans, but they are all the same price. There is no meal service, so it's all independent as far as cooking. If you choose to do Internet or cable, it's added to your bill through the property. You don't have to put it in your own name and go through all that, which is nice. All utilities are included, so nothing's in your name there. There is no laundry in each unit, but there is a central laundry room. On the second floor, there are elevators. The doors are locked from the outside at a certain time. So, you have to have a key fob to get in and out and visitors sign in and out at the front desk. They have someone who comes in and plays piano twice a week in the great room. Some different providers, like Humana or something like that, come in now and then and do either bingo with prizes or other things. They also have an exercise class by an outside provider twice a week that's included and there's no extra charge for any of that. The only thing that there's an extra charge for is if you take their van on an outing. They have outings to sign up for and you pay if you go on those."

"I'm currently at WhiteStone. I chose it because it's got a good reputation, it is very clean, very nice, modern, and they are supposed to take good care of people over here that are recovering. The staff is very good here. The food is good. There are a lot of activities here. The place is very nice looking aesthetically on the outside and the inside. The nurses are professional here and the aides are professional. They have a salon, PT, and a gym."

"I toured Well-Spring Retirement Community. It has everything you could want for all levels, and it is a large facility that would allow me to walk get my steps and get in shape. It has a gym. It has a swimming pool. It's hard to beat that. It was very clean. The cafeteria was very nice. It was very pleasant. Everybody there was pleasant and was very willing to talk and give me all the information I wanted."

"Carol Woods for me was a very nice place. The staff was wonderful. They had inside apartments and garden apartments and they were just beautiful. The dining room was very nice. I had not eaten there, but for what I had seen the meals were really healthy and delicious. It was close to a shopping area and not too far from a medical facility. They also had a bus that take people to where they wanted to go. "

"I looked at Azalea Estates Gracious Retirement Living. It is fairly new, it is very big, and it looks very homey. The person who accompanied me was very good and helpful. I wasn't too crazy about the apartment because it had a very small kitchenette, and there was no division between the kitchenette and the living room. They went to quite a bit of trouble about the food, but I didn't really like it that much, as it was kind of high in fat. It just wasn't to my taste. They have the usual amenities, but I just didn't think I would be comfortable there. They have an outdoor tennis court, an exercise room, a library, and a room where they show movies."
