The Best Assisted Living Communities in Georgetown County, SC

"My mother is at the assisted living level of Anderson Oaks. It's a very nice place. They take care of the seniors, they all seem to have fun, my mom has made friends, and is doing great. They have activities like sing-alongs, ice cream socials, they play card games, and stuff like that. It's an active community. The staff members that I met have been very nice, helpful, and cordial. The place itself is very nice and well-kept, and they offer free meals. Her room is nice and clean with a bed, a dresser, and a nice view out of the window."

"Indigo at Carolina Forest is a beautiful place. It looked like they were recently built. The aesthetic and the grounds were very nice and well-kept. They had a pool. It's very clean. The gym area had ample space to work out individually or in a group setting. The rec room was also quite ample. They had several games. The staff was very friendly, but it seemed like they had an older population in their staff."

"The food is fabulous!! And love the fact that families can join residents for dining anytime that they want. "

"I visited the independent living at Portside at Grande Dunes but was given information about the assisted living option. The person that showed us around did a great job. I was able to give her a heads up on the kinds of things that my dad could use extra information on, like kind of understanding the difference between independent living and assisted living. She did a great job of explaining that and how that works. One of the advantages of Portside is that people, depending on their needs, can start in one place like independent living, and then if the need arises, there is another level of care that they could move to within the complex. We met several people along the way, and they were very friendly and engaging. They seemed very nice during the time that we were visiting. My dad got a copy of the menus, but we did not stay for a meal. It's fairly new, so it's very beautiful inside. There were nice seating spaces on the first floor and there were residents that were seated there, kind of chatting. It seemed like people were very engaged. The nice thing about Portside is each of the independent living units has a small balcony off of the living room. It's got like a French door that goes out to a balcony and it's really nice that my dad could go out and have his cup of coffee outside without having to go down outside of the building. It's right off of his own living room if he chose to live there. They had a very nice courtyard off of their luncheon area. They have a heated pool that we were able to see. They had very nice amenities throughout."

"Everyone was extremely helpful and kind! The food was amazing and the facility was very comfortable! We had every question answered and every follow up phone call returned immediately. My elderly mom absolutely loved The Lakes at Litchfield and so did I!"

"We visited Arbor Landing in Pawleys Island, and it was very nice. The place is only two years old, so it was brand new, and everything there was in excellent condition. They had a lot of nice decorations. They had a lot of nice sitting areas for the guests and the residents. We were able to meet one person, and she's the director there. She was very nice and very helpful. We were going to move my dad there, but he went downhill very quickly and passed away. They had a nice outdoor area with a little putting green and sitting areas. Indoors they have games rooms and an activity area. It was very nice."

"We decided to pick here for my mom. At this point, she has been there for three months, and I absolutely have no problem with them. The staff is professional and they know what they're doing."

"Hope Arbor of Murrells Inlet was really nice. I would recommend them. They have different facilities for exercises. They have a lot of things that are really good for a person my age or a little bit older who can do different things for themselves. I liked the bedroom and the salon. I enjoyed all of that."

"Garden Manor had small apartments. There was a library and a small place in the back where you could plant flowers. They served one nice big meal a day. If you wanted something for later in the evening, you could get a box of food to take with you. They would come and clean once a week. They went on trips for shopping in a van. It was just what I needed. The people were very nice, very friendly, and outgoing. "

"The Palmettos of Garden City is wonderful. It's brand new, very clean, open, and airy. They have a lot of common areas to sit and socialize. Their staff is wonderful, I met their medical and nursing directors and activities director and they're all very caring and enthusiastic. It's conveniently located and the grounds are very nice, it's tucked away in a lot of trees. My father's room is a studio, it's a little smaller and pricier than some of the other places, but it's manageable. It has a large bathroom, with cable, Wi-Fi, and a telephone provided for free. All utilities are covered. In addition to three meals, they have unlimited snacks throughout the day. There's also a little bistro area where you can socialize and they have a happy hour every day."

"The owner is very attentive to clients needs. The staff is kind. The facility has activities such as bingo and chair exercise every morning form 9-11 am. Resident go out to eat as well as for holidays such as the 4th of July. Accompanied by staff to see fire works. Residents are provided with foot care and proper hair grooming such as cuts! This facility is small but I’d privately owned and is great I recommend this facility "

"We found a facility called South Island Assisted Living for my ex-husband. We chose this facility, for it fits as far as the budget that we can afford. The facility was very nice, and everyone was also very nice. He has a private room, and it’s very nice. The staff were very accommodating. They do play bingo and do puzzles, but he is not interested in any of those. The dining area is nice, and he said that the food is good. "

"Reflections Assisted Living was very nice. The people were very nice and helpful. The lady showed me around and explained how it works and how much it would cost. She was absolutely helpful and pleasant. The rooms were more like studios. They had a dining room and different activities. They had hairdressers come in also. I wouldn't mind my mother living there."

"My brother is staying in Sunny Pines Boarding Home. It's a nice place. I've been there before. It's a normal place for senior living. It is a group home where they have ten or more people there. They feed them and help with their medications and stuff like that. They have staff to help them with chores. They took my brother to the doctor. There are two people to a room. They have activities and then they take them to adult day care at certain hours of the day, I think about five hours a day or so. The staff are nice to deal with. I think it's a good price."
