The Best Assisted Living Communities in Charleston County, SC

"The staff at Stratford Place was interactive. The people were not just sitting in their wheelchairs. It was a clean facility. The staff was interacting with the people that were there, though not quite as interactive as you would see over at the other location. The good thing about it is it was a small facility. When we walked in the memory care unit, a lady was singing a gorgeous song, and they were all interactive and sitting around and listening to her. The director there knew the people's names. He was new, but he already knew them. We started with assisted living and then we went up to the memory care. You could probably go into assisted living and then later get to memory care because they had the capability to work on it because it's a small area. They had interactive games. They had an activities director who was very nice, and she had a family member that was there, so to bring your own family in there is a plus. They had activities to do on a routine basis. The residents were making door wreaths and stuff. They had a lady helping them with that activity. They were doing activities, which is good because with memory care you want them to be doing something, even if they can't do that, they can glue a flower to a wreath, and that's good. The rooms were nice, but not as nice as the other location."

"We have a place for my relative to stay. He is in Pinewood now. We visited a lot of facilities in the area and we like this one the best. He has been there for two months now. The staff seems great. They seem to care about their guests. It also seems like they are knowledgeable. We did have to furnish his room there but that wasn't really a problem. "

"It was an excellent place. The people were super friendly. It has everything there that we were looking for. Everything's kind of in the air at this minute, but it was a very nice facility. I liked it. I love the people. The staff has followed up with me a couple of times. They were super informative and super people. They told me they would send somebody out to visit with my mother a little bit to judge what level they thought she was going to need. The dining area was very nice. We didn't get to actually sample the food because it was in the afternoon, and it wasn't dinnertime yet. The rooms were very nice and spacious. It was a nice place. They had super attitudes all the way around. Everybody seemed to be in good spirits there. They had a game room and a TV room. They take them out for visits to places around town, as long as they're able to do that. I believe they have people come in and entertain them. The person during the tour was outstanding. I would be comfortable if my mom was there."

"My father was a resident at Daysprings for the last few years of his life. It is owned and staffed by the most genuine and loving people. He was receiving hospice care when he arrived, but because of the wonderful care he received was released from hospice care. I live almost 300 miles away and visited him every month. I was so warmly greeted every time and amazed at how much progress he had made. He was genuinely happy around these folks who treated him like family. They celebrated milestones and occasions with each resident making them feel so special. He loved the meals and the ones preparing them. Daddy enjoyed the various church groups that came and visited. I know without a doubt that he lived two months shy of his 101st birthday because of Daysprings! His last days were spent in a hospital and the Dayspring owners and staff all visited him. The owners were as greatly affected by his loss as we were. I just can’t say enough wonderful things about Daysprings except that I am so very grateful to them and for them and the care they provided. I would recommend Dayspring to ANYONE that is trying to find the “perfect” place for their loved one!"

"Dayspring is a wonderful place. The owners are very caring and loving people and treat the residents as family. The other staff members are very attentive. My family member was there for 9 years and was very happy here. She was previously at another facility for 2 years. Moving her to Dayspring was the best thing. She was so happy here. I recommend them to everyone that is looking for an assisted living facility."

"My husband is at Kempton of Charleston. He's been there for a year. Everybody has been great. My husband loves it there. It's a very nice place. They take good care of him, so I have no complaints. It's the most beautiful place in Charleston. It's like a five-star hotel. It's relatively new. The staff members are great. They have an activities director who takes them out to various places in Charleston, which is nice. One of the things I'm the happiest about is that they do a lot of activities. They're kept busy if they want to. She encourages everyone to participate. My husband gained 15 pounds, so he loves the food. It's a little bit more expensive."

"It was closer to the paper mill, and you could tell it was close, because of the residual from the doors being opened, but the facility itself was good. The lady that gave the tour was thorough, professional, and very nice. The rooms were adequate. They were nice, big enough, and clean. We visited all the different sized rooms and we were explained about the grounds, the activities, and different things like that. So, it was a very good tour."

"Wellmore Daniel Island is very nice and lovely. It was a beautiful building. There's a washer and dryer and walk-in shower. The staff was very nice and the fellow I talked to was terrific. The location was pretty good, and really close to Mount Pleasant. You also have the option for transportation. It's also expensive."

"We went to Palmettos of Charleston. It was even further away than the other community from where I live, and I just couldn’t fight the heavy traffic. I would describe it as very good. They were clean and seemed to have activities that kept the residents busy. The staff was wonderful and very good at showing us around and answering all of our questions. I didn’t eat the food, but the dining area was clean and looked inviting. Security was adequate. The amenities there were not as good as the amenities at the other community we saw, but they had exercises and lots of activities planned for the residents, so they had something to do just about all the time. "

"It was nice and clean, but it was just a smaller and older facility. The rooms did not seem as spacious, but it was fine. The people seemed very caring and very, very pleasant. The staff who assisted us during the tour was a nice lady."

"I'm very happy with Indigo Hall. My father is improving while my mother feels like she's on vacation. I compare it to the Ritz Carlton. The staff is lovely and very attentive. They know every single person there. I've spent a lot of time there and they just have been amazing. They're all kind and caring. I'm impressed with the intellectual level and the level of care demonstrated by everybody that I've encountered. The food is very good and I was impressed with the quality of wine they serve for happy hour. They have music therapy, guest speakers, a program on travel, exercise class, church services on Sunday, and a lot more. I think they're doing great. They have a quite nice room. It's beautiful. I'm very pleased with them."

"I went to look here, and I liked it very much. When I first got there, I was walking out of the lady's office that was showing me around, and a lot of different people came up to me and introduced themselves. They said, "Are you going to move here? You would love it here." I was really impressed with that. I thought the dining room was very nice, clean, spacious, and the tables were not too close together. The person who gave me the tour was very nice. She was always there and answered questions for me. She was very personable. They have an indoor swimming pool, a golf tee, a workout room, and a theater. I did not see a beauty salon, but I think they have one or two chairs where people can get a haircut. It was a beautiful place."

"Mom has been a resident of this community for awhile now. I just want to say Ashley Landing is great. All of the staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent and there is always something going on for the residents to do. What I have noticed most is that it feels like a big family. Based on the price and what I am hearing people pay at other places, this is the only assisted living I would consider. They are very honest and don't trick you by bringing you in on a deal and then increasing your fees. They tell you up front and, from my experience, they stick with it. I am very pleased."

"My 90 year old mother stays here when my Husband and I go out of town. She is very happy with the staff and services. We anticipate looking no further than Savannah Place when she requires more care and a permanent place to call home. "
