The Best Assisted Living Communities in Brunswick County, NC

"My mother was here. She was only there for two weeks and while she was there, I felt that they were caring, and kind, and they certainly took care of her needs. I don't have a long-term relationship with them, but for the two weeks, they were good. I could only look at her room from a window because we were in the middle of a pandemic, so I could not go in. Looking at it from outside, looking in, it looked clean. Communication was very good. There were no activities. They weren't able to do anything, and They were confined to their rooms. They ended up having a case of COVID, and they had not had any, and so that was the unfortunate part because that was beyond their control. However, my mother never got to meet any of the residents, and she never got to go to the dining hall because of COVID. As far as activities, they used to have them and they probably have them again, but while she was there, they were nonexistent. The resident nurse there was very efficient, caring, and kind to my mother. She was trying to make sure her needs were met."

"I highly recommend Arbor Landing at Ocean Isle for anyone in need of senior living. My mother has been a resident here for several months and during this time she and our family have been treated with nothing but respect, compassion, and warm smiles from every single staff member we've had the pleasure of working with. The marketing director, Stacey, goes above and beyond in making the transition of moving as smooth as possible. The nurse, Dawn, did a very thorough job during the move-in interview and continues to be involved in my mother's care. I have personally seen the kitchen and direct care staff members go above and beyond for the residents here. The office staff is always very friendly and easy to work with when it comes to the financial pieces. We regularly receive communication from the office staff and activity director to keep the families informed of goings on in the facility. This is one of the more established communities in this area and despite its age I would choose them again and again in lieu of the several new and shiny communities that have just been built around here. My mom is so happy here and looks forward to the many activities that are consistently planned for the residents. I couldn't be more thankful that we have found a place that she can call home in her golden years. We look forward to working with Arbor Landing for as long as we can and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Rooms are also very spacious for the monthly cost."

"My wife was at Spring Arbor of Wilmington. They were pretty good. She complained about some of the personnel not being very friendly with her, but at that time we thought she had dementia. Also my wife wasn't very cooperative. Some of the staff were friendly and some were not. I couldn't say about their accommodations. Because of COVID they wouldn't let me in the building. The surroundings were nice. No complaints. The location is convenient to where I live. It's very convenient to shopping and so forth if you can get out. However, if you get out, they would quarantine you for 14 days because of the coronavirus."

"The Landings of Oak Island assisted living and the facilities there were gorgeous. The director, as well as the marketing lady, were nice and we just felt comfortable with everybody that we interacted with when we went for our visit. Everybody interacted with my mom including the other residents. They greeted and visited with her. They offer some amenities like their own beauty salon with somebody that comes in to do hair and another person to do nails. That's kind of important to my mother. They have an in-room shower for her, but they also have their own spa area, which she has been looking forward to getting into because of the step-in bathtubs. We did not see the food, but we've heard from the people there that the food is very good. They have access to a coffee bar and snacks. They have areas where the residents can help themselves to coffee and snacks, all the time so we're hoping for the best when my mom moves there. The staff was super friendly and super upfront with the cost. The executive director met with us, Jaelyn is her name, and she did phenomenally well. She was very informative and very upfront too. She reassured us that medications are going to get passed at the correct times. We're very impressed with their med system. It's an electronic system where if the medicine was not opened up and delivered at the time it's supposed to be, the director as well as the nurses, get an immediate electronic notification that the med wasn't given."

"Shallotte Assisted Living is an old but nicely maintained facility. It's awesome and closest to where we live. My father-in-law is extremely satisfied with the food, and he’s picky. He’s in a private, adequate room. "

"My mother is in Coastal Pointe memory care unit. It's brand new and we're finding it very good. They do laundry, they have a salon, activities director, and an outdoor area that's secured, so we can go outside. They have physical therapy rooms and a movie cinema. At the moment, we're visiting outside, but we're gonna be starting visiting inside due to the cold weather. Some of the staff are new, and there are some visiting transitions. We had lunch with our mother one day, and the food was excellent. She's in a single room because there's not that many people there, but she's paying as if it's a double room, so it's a better value."
